Examining and manipulating the large volumetric data attract great interest for various applications. For such purpose, we first extend the 2D moving least squares (MLS) technique into 3D, and propose a texture-guided deformation technique for creating visualization styles through interactive manipulations of volumetric models using 3D MLS. Our framework includes focus+context (F+C) visualization for simultaneously showing the entire model after magnification, and the cut-away or illustrative visualization for providing a better understanding of anatomical and biological structures. Both visualization styles are widely applied in the graphics areas. We present a mechanism for defining features using high-dimensional texture information, and design an interface for visualizing, selecting and extracting features/objects of interest. Methods of the interactive or automatic generation of 3D control points are proposed for the flexible and plausible deformation. We describe a GPU-based implementation to achieve real-time performance of the deformation techniques and the manipulation operators. Different from physical deformation models, our framework is goal-oriented and user-guided. We demonstrate the robustness and efficiency of our framework using various volumetric datasets.  相似文献

With increasing numbers of flights worldwide and a continuing rise in airport traffic, air-traffic management is faced with a number of challenges. These include monitoring, reporting, planning, and problem analysis of past and current air traffic, e.g., to identify hotspots, minimize delays, or to optimize sector assignments to air-traffic controllers. To cope with these challenges, cyber worlds can be used for interactive visual analysis and analytical reasoning based on aircraft trajectory data. However, with growing data size and complexity, visualization requires high computational efficiency to process that data within real-time constraints. This paper presents a technique for real-time animated visualization of massive trajectory data. It enables (1) interactive spatio-temporal filtering, (2) generic mapping of trajectory attributes to geometric representations and appearance, and (3) real-time rendering within 3D virtual environments such as virtual 3D airport or 3D city models. Different visualization metaphors can be efficiently built upon this technique such as temporal focus+context, density maps, or overview+detail methods. As a general-purpose visualization technique, it can be applied to general 3D and 3+1D trajectory data, e.g., traffic movement data, geo-referenced networks, or spatio-temporal data, and it supports related visual analytics and data mining tasks within cyber worlds.  相似文献

This paper describes an immersive system,called 3DIVE,for interactive volume data visualization and exploration inside the CAVE virtual environment.Combining interactive volume rendering and virtual reality provides a netural immersive environment for volumetric data visualization.More advanced data exploration operations,such as object level data manipulation,simulation and analysis ,are supported in 3DIVE by several new techniques,In particular,volume primitives and texture regions ae used for the rendering,manipulation,and collision detection of volumetric objects;and the region-based rendering pipeline is integrated with 3D image filters to provide an image-based mechanism for interactive transfer function design.The system has been recently released as public domain software for CAVE/ImmersaDesk users,and is currently being actively used by various scientific and biomedical visualization projects.  相似文献

Analyzing molecular dynamics (MD) simulations is a key aspect to understand protein dynamics and function. With increasing computational power, it is now possible to generate very long and complex simulations, which are cumbersome to explore using traditional 3D animations of protein movements. Guided by requirements derived from multiple focus groups with protein engineering experts, we designed and developed a novel interactive visual analysis approach for long and crowded MD simulations. In this approach, we link a dynamic 3D focus+context visualization with a 2D chart of time series data to guide the detection and navigation towards important spatio‐temporal events. The 3D visualization renders elements of interest in more detail and increases the temporal resolution dependent on the time series data or the spatial region of interest. In case studies with different MD simulation data sets and research questions, we found that the proposed visual analysis approach facilitates exploratory analysis to generate, confirm, or reject hypotheses about causalities. Finally, we derived design guidelines for interactive visual analysis of complex MD simulation data.  相似文献

针对目前电机CAD软件直观性和交互性不强,本文设计了一个无刷直流电机(BLDCM)虚拟设计平台,将三维虚拟电机系统动态仿真引入到电机设计中。本系统采用3ds Max三维建模软件建立无刷直流电机系统仿真的虚拟场景,将电机系统虚拟仿真所需的数据存储在Microsoft SQL Server2005中以实现数据的共享,并使用OpenGL图形库对电机系统的三维模型进行重绘并控制以反映电机的实际运行状况。该软件提供了一个可视化的电机系统仿真环境,为电机设计的可靠性提供直观有效的依据。  相似文献

We present four studies investigating tools and methodologies for artist-scientist-technologist collaboration in designing multivariate, virtual reality (VR) visualizations. Design study 1 identifies the promise of 3D drawing-style interfaces for VR design and also establishes limitations of these tools with respect to precision and support for animation. Design study 2 explores animating artist-created visualization designs with scientific 3D fluid flow data. While results captured an accurate sense of flow that was advantageous as compared to the results of study 1, the potential for visual exploration using the design tools tested was limited. Design study 3 reveals the importance of a new 3D interface that overcomes the precision limitation found in study 1 while remaining accessible to artist collaborators. Drawing upon previous results, design study 4 engages collaborative teams in a design process that begins with traditional paper sketching and moves to animated, interactive, VR prototypes "sketched" by designers in VR using interactive 3D tools. Conclusions from these four studies identify important characteristics of effective artist-accessible VR visualization design tools and lead to a proposed formalized methodology for successful collaborative design that we expect to be useful in guiding future collaborations.
