This paper introduces a parallel iterated tabu search heuristic for solving four different routing problems: the classical vehicle routing problem (VRP), the periodic VRP, the multi-depot VRP, and the site-dependent VRP. In addition, it is applicable to the time-window constrained variant of these problems. Using the iterated local search framework, the heuristic combines tabu search with a simple perturbation mechanism to ensure a broad exploration of the search space. We also describe a parallel implementation of the heuristic to take advantage of multiple-core processors. Extensive computational results show that the proposed heuristic outperforms tabu search alone and is competitive with recent heuristics designed for each particular problem.  相似文献

Two new construction heuristics and a tabu search heuristic are presented for the truck and trailer routing problem, a variant of the vehicle routing problem. Computational results indicate that the heuristics are competitive to the existing approaches. The tabu search algorithm obtained better solutions for each of 21 benchmark problems.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop an extended guided tabu search (EGTS) and a new heuristic packing algorithm for the two-dimensional loading vehicle routing problem (2L-CVRP). The 2L-CVRP is a combination of two well-known NP-hard problems, the capacitated vehicle routing problem, and the two-dimensional bin packing problem. It is very difficult to get a good performance solution in practice for these problems. We propose a meta-heuristic methodology EGTS which incorporates theories of tabu search and extended guided local search (EGLS). It has been proved that tabu search is a very good approach for the CVRP, and the guiding mechanism of the EGLS can help tabu search to escape effectively from local optimum. Furthermore, we have modified a collection of packing heuristics by adding a new packing heuristic to solve the loading constraints in 2L-CVRP, in order to improve the cost function significantly. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is tested, and proven by extensive computational experiments on benchmark instances.  相似文献

This paper deals with a location routing problem with multiple capacitated depots and one uncapacitated vehicle per depot. We seek for new methods to make location and routing decisions simultaneously and efficiently. For that purpose, we describe a genetic algorithm (GA) combined with an iterative local search (ILS). The main idea behind our hybridization is to improve the solutions generated by the GA using a ILS to intensify the search space. Numerical experiments show that our hybrid algorithm improves, for all instances, the best known solutions previously obtained by the tabu search heuristic.  相似文献

The vehicle routing problem with simultaneous pick-up and delivery is the problem of optimally integrating goods distribution and waste collection, when no precedence constraints are imposed on the order in which the operations must be performed. The purpose of this paper is to present heuristic algorithms to solve this problem approximately in a small amount of computing time. We present and compare constructive algorithms, local search algorithms and tabu search algorithms, reporting on our computational experience with all of them. In particular we address the issue of applying the tabu search paradigm to algorithms based on complex and variable neighborhoods. For this purpose we combine arc-exchange-based and node-exchange-based neighborhoods, employing different and interacting tabu lists. All the algorithms presented in this paper are applicable to problems in which each customer may have either a pick-up demand or a delivery demand as well as to problems in which each customer may require both kinds of operation.  相似文献

This paper raises a novel two-phase heuristic method to solve vehicle routing problems with backhauls. Differing from other vehicle routing problems, we consider the travel speed of vehicle to be time dependent, which will be used for the model of rush hour in an urban city. In the first phase, the original solution is generated by extending traditional heuristic methods and in the second phase, the reactive tabu search algorithm is used to optimize the original solution. We verified that this algorithm is efficient in a number of standard test cases. After comparison with the closest neighboring search algorithm, we found that the results of two-phase heuristic methods are more reasonable.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to determine the route of the vehicle routing problem with backhauls (VRPB), delivering new items and picking up the reused items or wastes, and resolve the inventory control decision problem simultaneously since the regular VRPB does not. Both the vehicle routing decision for delivery and pickup, and the inventory control decision affect each other and must be considered together. Hence, a mathematical model of vehicle routing problem with backhauls and inventory (VRPBI) is proposed. Since finding the optimal solution(s) for VRPBI is a NP-hard problem, this paper proposes a heuristic method, variable neighborhood tabu search (VNTS), adopting six neighborhood searching approaches to obtain the optimal solution. Moreover, this paper compares the proposed heuristic method with two other existing heuristic methods. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method is better than the two other methods in terms of average logistic cost (transportation cost and inventory cost).  相似文献

The capacitated arc routing problem (CARP) is a difficult optimisation problem in vehicle routing with applications where a service must be provided by a set of vehicles on specified roads. A heuristic algorithm based on tabu search is proposed and tested on various sets of benchmark instances. The computational results show that the proposed algorithm produces high quality results within a reasonable computing time. Some new best solutions are reported for a set of test problems used in the literature.  相似文献

In this study, we consider the application of a simulated annealing (SA) heuristic to the truck and trailer routing problem (TTRP), a variant of the vehicle routing problem (VRP). In the TTRP, some customers can be serviced by either a complete vehicle (that is, a truck pulling a trailer) or a single truck, while others can only be serviced by a single truck for various reasons. SA has seen widespread applications to various combinatorial optimization problems, including the VRP. However, to our best knowledge, it has not been applied to the TTRP. So far, all the best known results for benchmark TTRP instances were obtained using tabu search (TS). We applied SA to the TTRP and obtained 17 best solutions to the 21 benchmark TTRP benchmark problems, including 11 new best solutions. Moreover, the computational time required by the proposed SA heuristic is less than those reported in prior studies. The results suggest that SA is competitive with TS on solving the TTRP.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider an operational routing problem to decide the daily routes of logging trucks in forestry. This industrial problem is difficult and includes aspects such as pickup and delivery with split pickups, multiple products, time windows, several time periods, multiple depots, driver changes and a heterogeneous truck fleet. In addition, the problem size is large and the solution time limited. We describe a two-phase solution approach which transforms the problem into a standard vehicle routing problem with time windows. In the first phase, we solve an LP problem in order to find a destination of flow from supply points to demand points. Based on this solution, we create transport nodes which each defines the origin(s) and destination for a full truckload. In phase two, we make use of a standard tabu search method to combine these transport nodes, which can be considered to be customers in vehicle routing problems, into actual routes. The tabu search method is extended to consider some new features. The solution approach is tested on a set of industrial cases from major forest companies in Sweden.  相似文献

The static bike rebalancing problem (SBRP) concerns the task of repositioning bikes among stations in self-service bike-sharing systems. This problem can be seen as a variant of the one-commodity pickup and delivery vehicle routing problem, where multiple visits are allowed to be performed at each station, i.e., the demand of a station is allowed to be split. Moreover, a vehicle may temporarily drop its load at a station, leaving it in excess or, alternatively, collect more bikes from a station (even all of them), thus leaving it in default. Both cases require further visits in order to meet the actual demands of such station. This paper deals with a particular case of the SBRP, in which only a single vehicle is available and the objective is to find a least-cost route that meets the demand of all stations and does not violate the minimum (zero) and maximum (vehicle capacity) load limits along the tour. Therefore, the number of bikes to be collected or delivered at each station must be appropriately determined in order to respect such constraints. We propose an iterated local search (ILS) based heuristic to solve the problem. The ILS algorithm was tested on 980 benchmark instances from the literature and the results obtained are competitive when compared to other existing methods. Moreover, our heuristic was capable of finding most of the known optimal solutions and also of improving the results on a number of open instances.  相似文献

This paper proposes a tabu search heuristic for the Quay Crane Scheduling Problem (QCSP), the problem of scheduling a fixed number of quay cranes in order to load and unload containers into and from a ship. The optimality criterion considered is the minimum completion time. Precedence and non-simultaneity constraints between tasks are taken into account. The former originate from the different kind of operations that each crane has to perform; the latter are needed in order to avoid interferences between the cranes. The QCSP is decomposed into a routing problem and a scheduling problem. The routing problem is solved by a tabu search heuristic, while a local search technique is used to generate the solution of the scheduling problem. This is done by minimizing the longest path length in a disjunctive graph. The effectiveness of our algorithm is assessed by comparing it to a branch-and-cut algorithm and to a Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedure (GRASP).  相似文献

This paper introduces a cooperative parallel metaheuristic for the capacitated vehicle routing problem. The proposed metaheuristic consists of multiple parallel tabu search threads that cooperate by asynchronously exchanging best-found solutions through a common solution pool. The solutions sent to the pool are clustered according to their similarities. The search history information identified from the solution clusters is applied to guide the intensification or diversification of the tabu search threads. Computational experiments on two sets of large-scale benchmark instance sets from the literature demonstrate that the suggested metaheuristic is highly competitive, providing new best solutions to ten of those well-studied instances.  相似文献

In this paper, we present an electric vehicles battery swap stations location routing problem (BSS–EV–LRP), which aims to determine the location strategy of battery swap stations (BSSs) and the routing plan of a fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) simultaneously under battery driving range limitation. The problem is formulated as an integer programming model under the basic and extended scenarios. A four-phase heuristic called SIGALNS and a two-phase Tabu Search-modified Clarke and Wright Savings heuristic (TS-MCWS) are proposed to solve the problem. In the proposed SIGALNS, the BSSs location stage and the vehicle routing stage are alternated iteratively, which considers the information from the routing plan while improving the location strategy. In the first phase, an initial routing plan is generated with a modified sweep algorithm, leading to the BSSs location subproblem, which is then solved by using an iterated greedy heuristic. In the third phase, the vehicle routes resulting from the location subproblem are determined by applying an adaptive large neighborhood search heuristic with several new neighborhood structures. At the end of SIGALNS, the solution is further improved by a split procedure. Compared with the MIP solver of CPLEX and TS-MCWS over three sets of instances, SIGALNS searches the solution space more efficiently, thus producing good solutions without excessive computation on the medium and large instances. Furthermore, we systematically conduct economic and environmental analysis including the comparison between basic and extended scenarios, sensitivity analysis on battery driving range and efficiency analysis about the vehicle emissions reduction when EVs are used in the logistics practice.  相似文献

In this paper we propose various neighborhood search heuristics (VNS) for solving the location routing problem with multiple capacitated depots and one uncapacitated vehicle per depot. The objective is to find depot locations and to design least cost routes for vehicles. We integrate a variable neighborhood descent as the local search in the general variable neighborhood heuristic framework to solve this problem. We propose five neighborhood structures which are either of routing or location type and use them in both shaking and local search steps. The proposed three VNS methods are tested on benchmark instances and successfully compared with other two state-of-the-art heuristics.  相似文献

The multi-depot split delivery vehicle routing problem combines the split delivery vehicle routing problem and the multiple depot vehicle routing problem. We define this new problem and develop an integer programming-based heuristic for it. We apply our heuristic to 30 instances to determine the reduction in distance traveled that can be achieved by allowing split deliveries among vehicles based at the same depot and vehicles based at different depots. We generate new test instances with high-quality, visually estimated solutions and report results on these instances.  相似文献

The single vehicle routing problem with deliveries and selective pickups (SVRPDSP) is defined on a graph in which pickup and delivery demands are associated with customer vertices. The difference between this problem and the single vehicle routing problem with pickups and deliveries (SVRPPD) lies in the fact that it is no longer necessary to satisfy all pickup demands. In the SVRPDSP a pickup revenue is associated with each vertex, and the pickup demand at that vertex will be collected only if it is profitable to do so. The net cost of a route is equal to the sum of routing costs, minus the total collected revenue. The aim is to design a vehicle route of minimum net cost, visiting each customer, performing all deliveries, and a subset of the pickups. A mixed integer linear programming formulation is proposed for the SVRPDSP. Classical construction and improvement heuristics, as well as a tabu search heuristic (TS), are developed and tested on a number of instances derived from VRPLIB. Computational results show that the solutions produced by the proposed heuristics are near-optimal. There is also some evidence that the best solutions identified by the heuristics are frequently non-Hamiltonian and may contain one or two customers visited twice.  相似文献
