In this work, we build upon the observation that offline reinforcement learning (RL) is synergistic with task hierarchies that decompose large Markov decision processes (MDPs). Task hierarchies can allow more efficient sample collection from large MDPs, while offline algorithms can learn better policies than the so-called “recursively optimal” or even hierarchically optimal policies learned by standard hierarchical RL algorithms. To enable this synergy, we study sample collection strategies for offline RL that are consistent with a provided task hierarchy while still providing good exploration of the state-action space. We show that naïve extensions of uniform random sampling do not work well in this case and design a strategy that has provably good convergence properties. We also augment the initial set of samples using additional information from the task hierarchy, such as state abstraction. We use the augmented set of samples to learn a policy offline. Given a capable offline RL algorithm, this policy is then guaranteed to have a value greater than or equal to the value of the hierarchically optimal policy. We evaluate our approach on several domains and show that samples generated using a task hierarchy with a suitable strategy allow significantly more sample-efficient convergence than standard offline RL. Further, our approach also shows more sample-efficient convergence to policies with value greater than or equal to hierarchically optimal policies found through an online hierarchical RL approach.  相似文献

An approach to customizing the data acquisition and interpretation process of liquid chromatography electrospray mass spectrometry (LC-MS) analysis of compound libraries is presented. Macro programs, using Microsoft Visual Basic, were applied to allow the seamless flow of data from the sample synthesis stage through data acquisition/interpretation and reporting, with minimum user interaction. Logical functions were also incorporated into the macros to allow automated actions to be performed based on experimental results. The application of this approach as a universal method for supplementing the automation process of other instruments controlled by the Microsoft Windows PC platform is also discussed.  相似文献

Visual interfaces are very important for human interactions in cyberworlds. Visual spatio-temporal querying should be one of the basic tools for data mining and retrieval in cyberworlds. In this paper, we propose a novel function-based query model for arbitrary shape spatio-temporal querying. The queries are defined as geometric shapes changing over time. In our model, data are interpreted geometrically as multidimensional points with time dimension or as moving points. The queries are formulated with geometric objects and operations over them to form the query solid changing over time. The proposed query model allows us to pose arbitrary shape spatio-temporal range queries. With the uniform geometric model we integrate visual mining and querying of time-dependent data employing 3D visualization tools. It allows for creating an intuitive visual interface using 2D projections of 3D query shapes. Our approach combines visualization of spatio-temporal data with visualization of the range query formulation employing very compact function-based query model. The implemented visual query system and its visual interface are proposed and described. An example of application of the system in analysis of simulation results in molecular dynamics is considered.  相似文献

Segmentation of medical images is a prerequisite in clinical practice. Many segmentation algorithms use statistical shape models. Due to the lack of tools providing prior information on the data, standard models are frequently used. However, they do not necessarily describe the data in an optimal way. Model-based segmentation can be supported by Visual Analytics tools, which give the user a deeper insight into the correspondence between data and model result. Combining both approaches, better models for segmentation of organs in medical images are created.In this work, we identify the main tasks and problems in model-based image segmentation. As a proof of concept, we show that already small visual-interactive extensions can be very beneficial. Based on these results, we present research challenges for Visual Analytics in this area.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of path planning for sample collection using single or multiple mobile robots such as Mars rovers is formulated as a mathematical optimization problem involving a performance metric based on the scientific values of the collected rock and soil samples. The posed optimization problem is NP‐hard and more complex than the well‐known Traveling Salesman Problem. Algorithms are proposed for obtaining near‐optimal solutions for both single and multiple robots. Their application is illustrated using real Mars surface data. The dependence of the optimal performance on the number of mobile robots is studied numerically. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献
