根据联邦通信委员会关于超宽带辐射功率谱的限制以及适用于多址方式的窄脉冲要求,设计了一组基于Hermite函数的超宽带脉冲波形。所设计的脉冲波形具有正交性和不随阶数变化的恒定脉宽两个重要特性,从而提供了良好的防时间抖动性能并有效降低符号间干扰;为了评估相关接收机的性能,对设计脉冲信号的自相关和互相关函数的闭合表达式进行了推导;分析了跳时脉位调制超宽带系统中脉冲波形在加性高斯白噪声、多址干扰、多径衰落信道等多种环境下的误码率性能,探讨了时间抖动对系统性能的影响,并将仿真结果与高斯单周期脉冲进行比较。分析结果表明该脉冲设计方案提供了一种灵活而系统的超宽带脉冲设计方法,所设计脉冲既满足辐射功率谱限制又提供良好的系统误码性能。  相似文献

The generalized Gaussian probability density function is shown to better approximate the probability density function of the multiple access interference in ultra-wide bandwidth systems than the Gaussian approximation and the Laplacian density approximation. Two ultra-wide bandwidth receiver structures based on this new approximation using a p-order metric receiver decision statistic are investigated for the detection of time-hopping ultra-wide bandwidth wireless signals in multiple access interference channels. The first receiver outperforms both the conventional matched filter ultra-wide bandwidth receiver and the soft-limiting ultra-wide bandwidth receiver when only multiple access interference is present in UWB channels. The second new receiver with adaptive limiting threshold outperforms the conventional matched filter ultra-wide bandwidth receiver, the soft-limiting ultra-wide bandwidth receiver, and the adaptive threshold soft limiting ultra-wide bandwidth receiver in all multiple access interference-plus-noise environments. In multipath channels, a new Rake receiver based on the p-order metric receiver is proposed for signal detection. Mathematical analysis and numerical results show that this new Rake receiver can achieve larger signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio than the standard matched filter Rake receiver when multipath components are resolvable in UWB channels.  相似文献

This letter presents an analysis of the effect of narrowband interference (NBI) on ultrawideband (UWB) time-hopping (TH) systems in the presence of multipath fading using both analytical derivations and simulations. Our analysis demonstrates that NBI may be an issue in some instances. In addition, we suggest three NBI suppression schemes for combating NBI in UWB TH systems. Single-link performance of these schemes in conjunction with a Rake-type receiver structure is estimated for both the ideal all-Rake receiver and the simpler partial-Rake receiver in an indoor environment. Two UWB pulse shapes that meet the Federal Communications Commission rules for UWB communications are considered in the investigation.  相似文献

A discrete-time equivalent system model is derived for differential and transmitted reference (TR) ultra-wideband (UWB) impulse radio (IR) systems, operating under heavy intersymbol-interference (ISI) caused by multipath propagation. In the systems discussed, data is transmitted using differential modulation on a frame-level, i.e., among UWB pulses. Multiple pulses (frames) are used to convey a single bit. Time hopping and amplitude codes are applied for multi user communications, employing a receiver front-end that consists of a bank of pulse-pair correlators. It is shown that these UWB systems are accurately modeled by second-order discrete-time Volterra systems. This proposed nonlinear equivalent system model is the basis for developing optimal and suboptimal receivers for differential UWB communications systems under ISI. As an example, we describe a maximum likelihood sequence detector with decision feedback, to be applied at the output of the receiver front-end sampled at symbol rate, and an adaptive inverse modeling equalizer. Both methods significantly increase the robustness in presence of multipath interference at tractable complexity.  相似文献

We study pulse-based ultra wideband (UWB) communications over multipath channels using asynchronous spread spectrum (SS) multiple access (MA) based on time-hopping (TH) and pulse position modulated (PPM) signals. More specifically, we analyze the signal-to-interference (SIR) degradation in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), multi-user interference (MUI), and dense multipath effects (DME) with line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS). In particular, we define a degradation margin factor for the combined MUI and multipath effects and also find an expression for the maximum number of simultaneous radio links Nu in terms of the operating SIR, the SS processing gain, and the bit transmission rate Rb. 该文在超宽带传统发射参考接收机的基础上,对时分多址方唏下諘数据传输速率时参考接收脉冲与数据接收脉冲波形都受到脉冲间干扰污染的相关接收机进行了分析,在此模型的基础上利用超宽带室内信道慢衰落的特点,采用少量无重叠的导频脉冲对模型系数进行估计,并用Volterr系统下的LMS箕法进行跟踪.采用求根法对存在二阶符号间干扰的系统辛行非线性均衡.用IEEE802.15.3a的室内多径信道模型仿真结果蠨明,采用该非线性均衡算法下接收机比线性均衡能更有效地克服符号间干扰.  相似文献

The performance of a single-user ultra-wideband (UWB) communication system employing binary block-coded pulse-position modulation (PPM) and suboptimal receivers in multipath channels is considered. The receivers examined include a RAKE receiver with various diversity combining schemes and an autocorrelation receiver, which is used in conjunction with transmitted reference (TR) signaling. A general framework is provided for deriving the performance of these receivers in multipath channels corrupted by additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). By employing previous measurements of indoor UWB channels, we obtain numerical results for several cases which illustrate the tradeoff between performance and receiver complexity.  相似文献

Recently, a novel balanced transmitted-reference (TR) system has been proposed for UWB communications. This TR system is capable of properly eliminating the inter-pulse interference (IPI) between the reference and data pulses in a single user multipath environment. In this paper, we investigate its multiple access (MA) performance by evaluating the second- order moments of noise and interference terms. The analytical framework developed here can also be used to accurately evaluate the MA performance of conventional TR system. It is shown that the proposed balanced TR system can achieve comparable MA capacity as conventional TR, while operating at higher information rate. On the other hand, given a target information rate, the balanced TR system in conjunction with M-ary signaling offers higher MA capacity than conventional TR system. The performance results suggest there exists a trade-off between the inter-pulse distance, thus the achievable information rate, and the MA capacity.  相似文献

Impulse radio (IR) is a promising ultra-wideband technique for tactical military communications. A key feature of time-hopping IR are the very narrow pulses used to convey information. Analysis of such time-hopping schemes under a variety of assumptions have been reported in the literature. However, none of these studies to date consider the effects of timing jitter and tracking on time-hopping in a ultra-wideband (UWB) setting. We consider the effects of timing jitter and tracking on the performance of binary and 4-ary UWB communications. We find that the performance of IR is very sensitive to timing jitter and tracking, at least in part due to the very narrow pulses. We also find that in the presence of timing jitter and tracking, orthogonal 4-ary pulse position modulation (PPM) out performs binary offset PPM at all jitter levels in thermal and pulse noise. Simulation results are presented that quantify the sensitivity of binary and 4-ary IR to timing jitter and tracking error.  相似文献

针对有码间干扰的跳时脉冲脉位调制超宽带(PPM-TH-UWB)通信系统,为了在不增加系统复杂度的前提下,提高系统抗码间干扰的性能,研究了基于平衡Gold码的Rake接收机的性能,并在IEEE 15.3a UWB信道下对采用平衡Gold码作为跳时序列的Rake接收机和采用传统伪随机序列的Rake接收机的误比特率进行计算机仿真比较,结果表明:采用平衡Gold码作为跳时序列,Rake接收机得到明显改善,而且码间干扰越严重,性能提升越显著。  相似文献

分析了超宽带传输参考(TR)接收机的原理和优势,针对UWB通信应用在多个比特传输中信道基本不变的特点,将TR信号集合扩展为一帧几个参考信号和多个数据信号,提出了一种改进TR接收机。文中对基本TR接收机和改进TR接收机的性能进行了理论分析,并采用IEEE的CM1、CM2多径信道模型进行了性能仿真,结果表明,综合考虑性能、传输效率和成本,改进TR接收机优于基本TR接收机。  相似文献

A new M-ary orthogonal coded signaling is introduced to avoid the inter-frame interference that is especially detrimental to realizing high rate ultra-wideband (UWB) transmitted-reference (TR) systems. To further increase the information rate, the inter-pulse interference by an overlap of multipath-delayed pulses is controlled by integrating the signaling and a pair of balanced matched Alters in a joint manner, so as to permit a shorter time delay between the reference and data pulses in TR systems. To evaluate an achievable information rate increase relative to conventional TR, the symbol error probability (SEP) is theoretically derived for the proposed M-ary orthogonal coded/balanced TR system, considering the realistic IEEE standard UWB channel models. In addition, we consider the issue of receiver complexity and present two alternative low- complexity receiver implementations for the proposed TR system.  相似文献

The multiple-user interference (MUI) in time-hopped impulse-radio ultrawide bandwidth (UWB) systems is impulse-like and poorly approximated by a Gaussian distribution. Therefore, conventional matched filter receiver designs, which are optimal for Gaussian noise, are not fully efficient for UWB applications. Several alternative distributions for approximating the MUI process and the MUI-plus-noise process in UWB systems are motivated and compared. These distributions have in common that they are more impulsive than the Gaussian approximation, with a greater area in the tails of the probability density function (pdf) compared to a Gaussian pdf. The improved MUI and MUI-plus-noise models are utilized to derive new receiver designs for UWB applications, which are shown to be superior to the conventional matched filter receiver. Multipath propagation is abundant in UWB channels and is exploited by a Rake receiver. A Rake receiver uses multiple fingers to comb the multipath rays with a conventional matched filter implemented in each finger. Rake structures utilizing the new receiver designs that are suitable for reception of UWB signals in multipath fading channels are provided. An optimal performance benchmark, based on an accurate theoretical model for the interference that fully explains the features of the MUI pdf, is also presented. Analysis and simulation results are shown for the novel receivers, which demonstrate that the new designs have superior performance compared to the conventional linear receiver when MUI is significant. Several adaptive receivers are shown to always match or exceed the performance of the conventional linear receiver in all MUI-plus-noise environments. Parameter estimation for the new receivers also is discussed.   相似文献

A novel receiver structure based on soft-limiting is proposed for detecting a time-hopping ultrawide-bandwidth (UWB) signal in the presence of multiple-access interference (MAI). The proposed structure contains a nonlinear limiter for suppressing the MAI. Simulation results show that the proposed receiver achieves better bit-error-rate performance than the conventional matched receiver when operating in MAI. When operating in an MAI-plus-Gaussian-noise environment, the receiver structure outperforms the conventional matched-filter receiver for moderate to large values of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). A receiver structure with adaptive limiting threshold is further proposed to ensure that the performance of the soft-limiting receiver always meets or surpasses the performance of the conventional UWB receiver for all values of SNR. Application of the soft-limiting structure in the fingers of a rake receiver is shown to enhance the signal-to-noise-plus-interference ratio.  相似文献

The performance of asynchronous time-hopping ultra-wideband (TH-UWB) multiple access spread spectrum is analytically investigated in a UWB realistic multipath channel and in the presence of narrowband interference (NBI). In particular, an interference suppression receiver for TH-UWB wireless systems is proposed. It consists of selecting the first strongest multipath components using an appropriate Rake receiver with the path diversity combining being based on the minimum mean square error criterion. Pulse position modulation and pulse amplitude modulation schemes are considered. The expressions of the signal-to-interference and noise ratio at the output of the selective Rake combiner, the system multi-access data rate as well as the conditional bit error rate are also derived. The impact of different parameters, such as the number of selected dominant paths, the NBI power as well as the time hopping sequence code on the system performance are studied. Results reveal that the proposed receiver can almost completely eliminate the effect of NBI.  相似文献

Ultra-wideband (UWB) impulse radio (IR) systems are currently being considered for several applications due to their attractive features that include low-power carrierless and ample multipath diversity. Among the various modulation and multiple-access schemes, time-hopping (TH) pulse position modulation (PPM) is a popular technique in application. Most past works rely on strict power control and perform single-user detection (matched filtering) on the desired signal. This paper aims to apply multiuser detection techniques in binary PPM (BPPM) UWB IR multiple-access systems. Moreover, we consider frequency-selective multipath fading channels to account for the wireless cellular environment. A class of linear multiuser detectors (LMDs) is applied to extract the information bits while eliminating multiuser interference (MUI) in the presence of multipath fading. Simulation results are provided to compare the performance of different LMDs.  相似文献

The novel pulses, which not only meet the power spectral mask of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) but also preserve orthonormality at the correlation receiver, have been proposed by Kim for high data rate communications in indoor ultra-wideband (UWB) systems. The proposed multiple orthonormal pulses comply with the FCC spectral mask without additional frequency shifting or bandpass filters, and furthermore, provide enhanced bit-error rate (BER) performance, compared with a well-known Gaussian monocycle and modified Hermite pulses. This paper analyzes the impact of the proposed pulses' properties, such as their auto- and cross-correlations, on the correlation receiver of the UWB system based on the pulse position modulation. The performance of the proposed pulses are compared with different waveforms under various conditions, such as multipath fading, timing mismatch, and multiuser interference. We also discuss a modulation scheme using the multiple orthogonal pulses to achieve the enhancement of data rate and the impact of the correlation characteristics of the proposed waveforms on the BER performance. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed orthonormal pulses in various conditions, comparing with different waveforms  相似文献

In this work we study ultra wideband (UWB) communications over dense multipath channels using orthogonal pulse position modulation (PPM) for data modulation and time-hopping (TH) for code modulation. We consider the effects of the multiple access interference (MUI) in asynchronous spread spectrum multiple access (SSMA) based on random TH codes.
