Operational retrieval of cloud-top heights using MISR data   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Due to its unique nine-angle configuration, the Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR) can retrieve cloud parameters such as cloud-motion vectors and cloud-top heights using a purely geometrical technique that involves locating the same cloud features at different viewing angles. The geometrical nature of this technique means that the retrievals are relatively insensitive to the absolute instrument calibration. Fast stereo-matching algorithms have been developed to perform this image matching automatically on an operational basis. Preliminary results are shown of the operational retrievals together with comparisons against other data. Cloud-top height is generally obtained on a 1.1-km grid with an accuracy of /spl plusmn/ 562 m, even over snow and ice. The limitations of the technique, resulting at times in height blunders, noisy retrievals, and discrete effects of wind correction, are discussed.  相似文献

The Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR) consists of nine cameras pointing from nadir to an extreme of 70.5/spl deg/ in the view angle. It is a pushbroom imager with four spectral bands per camera. Instrument specifications call for each camera to be calibrated to an absolute uncertainty of 3% and to within 1% relative to the other cameras. To accomplish this, the MISR instrument utilizes an on-board calibrator (OBC) to provide updates to the instrument gain coefficients on a bimonthly basis (i.e. once every two months). Spectralon diffuse panels are used in the OBC to provide a uniform target for the nine MISR cameras to view. The radiometric scale of the OBC is established through the use of photodiodes. The stability of the MISR OBC system and its in-flight calibration are discussed.  相似文献

Radiometric measurements of the microwave emissivity of foam were conducted during May 2000 at the Naval Research Laboratory's Chesapeake Bay Detachment using radiometers operating at 10.8 and 36.5 GHz. Horizontal and vertical polarization measurements were performed at 36.5 GHz; horizontal, vertical, +45/spl deg/, -45/spl deg/, left-circular, and right-circular polarization measurements were obtained at 10.8 GHz. These measurements were carried out over a range of incidence angles from 30/spl deg/ to 60/spl deg/. Surface foam was generated by blowing compressed air through a matrix of gas-permeable tubing supported by an aluminum frame and floats. Video micrographs of the foam were used to measure bubble size distribution and foam layer thickness. A video camera was boresighted with the radiometers to determine the beam-fill fraction of the foam generator. Results show emissivities that were greater than 0.9 and approximately constant in value over the range of incidence angles for vertically polarized radiation at both 10.8 and 36.5 GHz, while emissivities of horizontally polarized radiation showed a gradual decrease in value as incidence angle increased. Emissivities at +45/spl deg/, -45/spl deg/, left-circular, and right-circular polarizations were all very nearly equal to each other and were in turn approximately equal to the average values of the horizontal and vertical emissivities in each case.  相似文献

A chopped Hall sensor for camshaft applications is presented which provides a programmable "True Power-on" switching level effective after the power-up phase. The proposed chopping technique and self-compensation methods for temperature drift and technology spread provide a correct output state immediately after power-on even at zero speed of the target wheel. The circuits improve the magnetic offsets from 5 to 10 mT to below 200 /spl mu/T in a bandwidth of 30 kHz and stabilize the spread of the magnetic switching points from 20% to <2% in a temperature range from -40/spl deg/C to 175/spl deg/C. The novel combination of chopping and enhanced digital self-calibration algorithm adjusts the magnetic switching point and improves phase accuracy to <0.5/spl deg/, independent of air gap variations between sensor and wheel. An end-of-line calibration for the customer is implemented using surface micromachined cavity fuses which offer a reliable function higher than 195/spl deg/C.  相似文献

Subharmonically pumped frequency down- and upconversion circuits are implemented in 0.18-/spl mu/m mixed-mode CMOS technology for 2-GHz direct-conversion WCDMA transceiver applications. These circuits operate in quadrature double-balanced mode and a required octet-phases (0/spl deg/, 45/spl deg/, 90/spl deg/, 135/spl deg/, 180/spl deg/, 225/spl deg/, 270/spl deg/, and 315/spl deg/) local oscillator (LO) signal comes from an active multiphases LO generator composed of a polyphase filter and active 45/spl deg/ phase shifting circuits. For linearity improvement, predistortion compensation and negative feedback schemes are used in the frequency down- and upconversion circuits, respectively. The downconverter achieves a conversion voltage gain of 20 dB (to 1-M/spl Omega/ load), 4-dBm IIP3 (18-dBm OIP3 to 50-/spl Omega/ load), 41-dBm IIP2 and 8.5-dB DSB NF at 1-MHz IF frequency, consuming 13.4 mA from 1.8-V supply, in the WCDMA Rx band (2110-2170 MHz). The upconverter, operating as two switched gain modes in the WCDMA Tx band (1920-1980 MHz), consumes 19.4 mA from 1.8-V supply and shows 14.5-dB conversion power gain, 15 -dBm OIP3 (0.5-dBm IIP3) and -11 dBm P/sub 1dB/ at maximum gain mode. At minimum gain mode, it realizes -0.3-dB conversion loss, 10.7-dBm OIP3 (11-dBm IIP3) and 0-dBm P/sub 1dB/, respectively. 3GPP WCDMA modulation tests are performed for both up- and downconversion circuits and the results are discussed in this paper.  相似文献

Experimental investigations were conducted to examine the effect of dielectric loading on a ferrite loaded waveguide radiator (notch antenna). The antenna was made by symmetrically tapering an X-band waveguide. A cylindrical ferrite post was disposed at the apex of the notch and it was biased with a dc magnetic field. The antenna was tested for several notch angles namely 140/spl deg/, 120/spl deg/, 90/spl deg/, 80/spl deg/, 60/spl deg/ while ferrite was loaded with several dielectric sleeves, such as wood, polymer, pyrex. The dielectric loading with high permittivity material is found to give better radiation and scanning characteristics. The radial thickness of the dielectric ring is observed to affect the radiation.  相似文献

A 16-element two-dimensional (2-D) retrodirective array using self-oscillating mixers (SOMs) is presented. SOMs allow for easier implementation of larger 2-D arrays by eliminating the complex local-oscillator (LO) feed structure. A 4 /spl times/ 4 element retrodirective array using SOMs is demonstrated at an LO frequency of 7.68 GHz. Each element is phased locked at the LO frequency with an accompanying RF frequency isolation of 17.9 dB between adjacent horizontal elements and 22.2 dB between adjacent vertical elements. A -10-dBm external injection-locking signal is applied to reduce the phase noise of the 16-element array to -68.2 dBc/Hz at 10-kHz offset. Retrodirectivity is observed in the /spl phi/=0/spl deg/, /spl phi/=-45/spl deg/, and /spl phi/=-90 plane for scattering angles of /spl theta/=-15/spl deg/, /spl theta/=0/spl deg/, and /spl theta/=+30/spl deg/.  相似文献

The scientific objectives, instrument concept, and data plan for the multiangle imaging spectroradiometer (MISR), an experiment proposed for the Eos (Earth Observing System) mission, are described. MISR is a pushbroom imaging system designed to obtain continuous imagery of the sunlit Earth at four different view angles (25.8°, 45.6°, 60.0°, and 72.5° relative to the vertical at the Earth's surface), in both the forward and aftward directions relative to nadir, using eight separate cameras. Observations will be acquired in four spectral bands, centered at 440, 550, 670, and 860 nm. Data analysis algorithms will be applied to MISR imagery to retrieve the optical, geometric, and radiative properties of complex, three-dimensional scenes, such as aerosol-laden atmospheres above a heterogeneously reflecting surface, nonstratified cloud systems, and vegetation canopies. The MISR investigation will address a number of scientific questions concerning the climatic and ecological consequences of many natural and anthropogenic processes, and will furnish the aerosol information necessary  相似文献

In order to achieve small self-refresh current (ICC/sub 6/), the first 256-Mb SDRAM with an on-chip thermometer in the DRAM industry is implemented with a new self-refresh scheme. In addition, the biased reference line (BRL) sensing scheme improving refresh characteristics is proposed to increase refresh period and reduce ICC/sub 6/. The on-chip thermometer is characterized by a small area of 0.43 mm/sup 2/, low power consumption with less than 1-/spl mu/A average current, and good accuracy of 5.85/spl deg/C in the worst case. Good accuracy is achieved by incorporating many generic design techniques, including offset-free operational amplifiers and the chopping method, and small area is achieved by applying DRAM cell technology to integrating analog-digital converter. A 75% reduction in ICC/sub 6/ at 60/spl deg/C is achieved with on-chip thermometer and BRL sensing scheme improving 30% of refresh characteristic.  相似文献

Recently, an expression for the equivalent admittance of symmetrical three-port circulators has been derived on the basis of symmetry considerations. In this paper, the same technique is extended to the symmetrical four-port circulator. It is shown that a simple relationship must be satisfied by the eigenadmittances jY/sub 0/, jY/sub -1/, jY/sub 1/, and jY/sub 2/ if perfect circulation is to be obtainable by matching alone. This relationship also applies to recriprocal four-port devices with 2-fold symmetry about two perpendicular axes which are required to be 90/spl deg/ hybrids upon matching, provided that the eigenadmittances jY/sub 1/, jY/sub 2/, jY/sub 3/, and jY/sub 4/ are used. An interesting application of this relation to the construction of a compact stripline hybrid is given.  相似文献

A full-duplex dual-frequency self-steering array using phase detection and phase shifting is presented. By RF decoupling the transmitter and receiver arrays, the proposed system promises greater system efficiency by ensuring a constant transmit power. This also allows for a separate low-frequency interrogating signal capable of various modulation schemes. A two-element prototype is demonstrated with interrogating and retrodirective frequencies of 1.425 and 2.85 GHz, respectively. Retrodirectivity is reported for angles of 0/spl deg/, -15/spl deg/, and +25/spl deg/. The power of the received signal is improved by up to 12 dB for -60/spl deg//spl les//spl theta//spl les/60/spl deg/ when compared to a conventional two-element array.  相似文献

A simple and low-cost multiple beam phased array is designed using a microstrip Rotman lens and multi-line phase shifter controlled by a piezoelectric transducer (PET) at Ka-band. A microstrip Rotman lens with five beam ports and nine array ports is used as a feed for a multiple beam antenna array to generate five beams centered at the angles of 0/spl deg/, /spl plusmn/15/spl deg/, and /spl plusmn/30/spl deg/. The lens fed nine-element patch array shows the antenna gain of 10 dBi and sidelobe suppression of 10 dB. Each beam is steered over /spl plusmn/8/spl deg/ using two PET-controlled phase shifters, and the five beams cover /spl plusmn/38/spl deg/ from the broadside.  相似文献

SiC thin-film Fabry-Perot interferometer for fiber-optic temperature sensor   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Polycrystalline SiC grown on single-crystal sapphire substrates have been investigated as thin-film Fabry-Perot interferometers for fiber-optic temperature measurements in harsh temperatures. SiC-based temperature sensors are compact in size, robust, and stable at high temperatures, making them one of the best choices for high temperature applications. SiC films with thickness of about 0.5-2.0 /spl mu/m were grown at 1100/spl deg/C by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) with trimethylsilane. The effect of operating temperature on the shifts in resonance minima, /spl Delta//spl lambda//sub m/, of the SiC/sapphire substrate has been measured in the visible-infrared wavelength range. A temperature sensitivity of 1.9/spl times/10/sup -5///spl deg/C is calculated using the minimum at /spl sim/700 nm. Using a white, broadband light source, a temperature accuracy of /spl plusmn/3.5/spl deg/C is obtained over the temperature range of 22/spl deg/C to 540/spl deg/C.  相似文献

A 1.2-V 72-Mb double data rate 3 (DDR3) SRAM achieves a data rate of 1.5 Gb/s using dynamic self-resetting circuits. Single-ended main data lines halve the data line precharging power dissipation and the number of data lines. Clocks phase shifted by 0/spl deg/, 90/spl deg/, and 270/spl deg/ are generated through the proposed clock adjustment circuits. The latter circuits make input data sampled with an optimized setup/hold window. On-chip input termination with a linearity error of /spl plusmn/4.1% is developed to improve signal integrity at higher data rates. A 1.2-V 1.5-Gb/s 72-Mb DDR3 SRAM is fabricated in a 0.10-/spl mu/m CMOS process with five metals. The cell size and the chip size are 0.845 /spl mu/m/sup 2/ and 151.1 mm/sup 2/, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, a broadband 180/spl deg/ bit phase shifter using a new switched-network was presented. The new network is composed of a /spl lambda//2 coupled line and parallel /spl lambda//8 open and short stubs, which are shunted at the edge points of a coupled line, respectively. According to a desired phase shift, it provides a controllable phase dispersive characteristic by the proper determination of Z/sub m/,Z/sub s/, and R values. The 180/spl deg/ bit phase shifter operated at 3 GHz was fabricated and experimented using design graphs which provide the required Z/sub m/,Z/sub s/ values, and I/O match and phase bandwidths. Variations in wind forcing over summer first-year sea ice (FYI) melt ponds occur at hourly to weekly scales and are a significant contributor to microwave backscatter (/spl sigma//spl deg/) variability observed from spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) platforms (e.g., ENVISAT-ASAR and RADARSAT-1). This variability impairs our ability to use SAR to derive information on summer sea ice thermodynamic state and energy balance parameters such as albedo and melt pond fraction. The surface roughness contribution of FYI melt ponds in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago to like-polarized, C-band /spl sigma//spl deg/ estimates is analyzed through a spectral and statistical analysis of surface wave height profiles for varying wind speeds, upwind fetch lengths, and melt pond depths. A unique derivation of melt pond surface wave height spectra is presented based on digital video of melt pond surface wave trains. Significant scale surface roughness was observed even at wind speeds of 3 m/spl middot/s/sup -1/, resulting in small perturbation model estimates of /spl sigma//spl deg/ (HH) ranging from -5 dB at 20/spl deg/ incidence to -22 dB at 50/spl deg/ incidence. Results from a multivariate linear regression analysis show that 53.5% of observed variance in /spl sigma//spl deg/ (HH or VV) can be explained by wind speed, upwind fetch from melt pond edges, and melt pond depth, with no appreciable difference in the relative contribution of explanatory variables. Modeled omnidirectional /spl sigma//spl deg/ as a function of wind speed and incidence angle for 100-m transects collected throughout the melt pond season act to elaborate the role of fetch and depth, as well as the modulating effect of hummocks, on /spl sigma//spl deg/.  相似文献

A low-cost temperature sensor with on-chip sigma-delta ADC and digital bus interface was realized in a 0.5 /spl mu/m CMOS process. Substrate PNP transistors are used for temperature sensing and for generating the ADC's reference voltage. To obtain a high initial accuracy in the readout circuitry, chopper amplifiers and dynamic element matching are used. High linearity is obtained by using second-order curvature correction. With these measures, the sensor's temperature error is dominated by spread on the base-emitter voltage of the PNP transistors. This is trimmed after packaging by comparing the sensor's output with the die temperature measured using an extra on-chip calibration transistor. Compared to traditional calibration techniques, this procedure is much faster and therefore reduces production costs. The sensor is accurate to within /spl plusmn/0.5/spl deg/C (3/spl sigma/) from -50/spl deg/C to 120/spl deg/C.  相似文献

Emphasis has been placed on the quality of a metrology antenna system that allows it to be represented accurately using analytical or numerical models. Central to this capability is the efficacy of the balancing networks, sometimes referred to as balanced to unbalanced transformers (baluns). In this paper, we classify three fundamental types of baluns and show that all three can be derived from the 180/spl deg/, four-port hybrid network. Balanced antennas driven from coaxial feed lines and operated in the presence of an asymmetric scatterer present an intrinsically unbalanced load to the balun. We show that in such situations the current balun is the only appropriate balun to employ. For numerous antenna metrology applications, in particular, site attenuation measurements, 180/spl deg/, four-port hybrid networks have been employed as baluns. Network relations are derived relating the so-called voltage and current baluns to the 180/spl deg/, four-port hybrid network. It is shown that, in addition to acting as a 0/spl deg/ or 180/spl deg/ power divider, the hybrid network can serve as either a voltage or a current balun depending on the termination at the isolated port. In contrast to the traditional approach, it is shown that when using a 180/spl deg/ hybrid as a balun, the isolated port should be terminated in such a way that the hybrid behaves as a current balun as opposed to a 180/spl deg/ power divider. This will yield experimental results that can be more readily reconciled with models.  相似文献

A rotary ultrasonic motor, including a disk-shaped ultrasonic actuator and a rotor, is developed, and the characteristics of the motor, including speeds, torques, output powers, and efficiencies, against various preload forces, voltages, and frequencies are investigated. The actuator is developed on a thin piezoelectric buzzer with three fixed screws and driven by a single-phase electrical power source. Here, the buzzer is composed of a nickel-alloy disk and a piezoceramic disk, and the screws are individually arranged at 90/spl deg/, 120/spl deg/, and 150/spl deg/ arc locations on the nickel-alloy disk. An optimal driving point of the actuator for driving the rotor in both clockwise (CW) and counterclockwise (CCW) directions is located at a point on the 90/spl deg/ arc edge region, and the CW and CCW directions are controlled by the frequency of the electrical power source. In doing so, the principle, construction, and driving mechanism of the actuator are first expressed. Then, the principle is verified according to vibration mode analysis with ANSYS simulation. The ANSYS simulation concerns the numerical model, structure, and mesh analysis as well. Moreover, a driving and measuring system, including an ac power supply system and a system that measures speed and twist forces, is constructed to evaluate the performance of the actuator and motor.  相似文献
