An important principle in managing any business is ‘What can't be measured, can't be managed’. The complexity of businesses today means that in order to measure business performance one needs to perform considerable analysis of data gathered in vast quantities on a regular basis. Therefore data analysis is at the heart of decision making in all business applications. There is, however, a significant degree of manual intervention in preparing, presenting and analysing business data. Recent advances in intelligent software technology have produced a number of novel techniques to model the human decision-making process. Data analysis tools have in the past been used by businesses mainly as a reactive tool. The pace of change and increased competition means that those businesses that can turn data into information and then into action quickly will have a better chance to survive and out-manoeuvre their rivals. This requires a fundamental change in the way data is used in the enterprise, from a reactive manner to a proactive one. The implications of recent changes can be significant on the level of skilled resources required as well as the cost of such operations. Intelligent software can play an important role in automating the analysis process and up-skill the business users. In this paper we will describe the intelligent business analytics (IBA) platform and two applications developed using it. The paper will focus on soft computing as an emerging technology suitable for incorporation into business analytics applications to model hidden patterns in data and to explain such patterns automatically. Apache Spark programming framework provides an effective and vigorous open-source solution for Big data testing and management. It offers a rich set of big data applications through a programming interface. Testing procedures deliver optimum solutions to complex business problems like analyzing large data volumes. A typical test engineer demands manual to automatic testing which assists the testing strategy with minimal effort. Big data testing means, verification, and validation of data while storing and processing it. This research paper demonstrates the challenges with new high-performance analytics for simpler and faster testing processing of relevant data. It enables, timely and accurate insights using Big data testing predict analytics and can manage large quantities of Structured, Semi-structured, and Unstructured data forms with spark analysis. These methods are evaluated using Extract, Transformation, Loading, and Apache spark procedures. The proposed Big data testing method has statistically outperformed conventional procedures.

The emergence of the internet of things (IoT) has drastically influenced and shaped the world of technology in the contexts of connectivity, interconnectivity, and interoperability with smart connected sensors, objects, devices, data, and applications. In fact, IoT has brought notable impacts on the global economy and human experience that span from industry to industry in a variety of application domains, including healthcare. With IoT, it is expected to facilitate a seamless interaction and communication of objects (devices) with humans in the environment. Therefore, it is imperative to embrace the potentials and benefits of IoT technology in healthcare delivery to ensure saving lives and to improve the quality of life using smart connected devices. In this paper, we focus on the IoT based healthcare system for cancer care services and business analytics/cloud services and also propose the adoption and implementation of IoT/WSN technology to augment the existing treatment options to deliver healthcare solution. Here, the business analytics/cloud services constitute the enablers for actionable insights, decision making, data transmission and reporting for enhancing cancer treatments. Furthermore, we propose a variety of frameworks and architectures to illustrate and support the functional IoT-based solution that is being considered or utilized in our proposed smart healthcare solution for cancer care services. Finally, it will be important to understand and discuss some security issues and operational challenges that have characterized the IoT-enabled healthcare system.

Many organisations use decision models in their processes such as tables or trees to provide decision support to their operational divisions. For example, in fault management, customer contact centre operators usually use a decision model in the form of prescribed interviews. Based on the answers given by customers, the operator navigates through the decision model to reach an assessment of the problem. In order to achieve customer satisfaction and operational excellence, it is very important to constantly monitor the performance of a decision model not only on an overall level, but also on the level of individual decisions. In this paper we present a configurable business process analytics tool, known as the intelligent Universal Service Management System, that constantly monitors decision data and is capable of optimising the decisions based on high-level business objectives. We explain the various features of the software and show how it can be used to optimise decision processes. We also show how we can easily provide a customised version to monitor the performance of provision processes.  相似文献

The authors present a strategy for systematically allocating resources to competing independent research and development (IR&D) projects in a company building systems for the US Department of Defense. The approach is less mathematically complex than many techniques reported in the literature, utilizing the judgement of key business and technical elements in the organization. The authors first give a taxonomy characterizing various approaches and briefly review R&D selection methods reported in literature. Then they describe an interactive process that they have developed for selecting IR&D projects which, rather than substituting complex calculations for good technical and material judgement, facilitates better utilization of the expertise of various organizational elements within the context of corporate strategic planning. 为了提高企业对客户信息化服务水平和整体运作效率,减轻工作人员的劳动强度,提升服务品质,全面降低企业运作成本,设计了一种基于Web的客户服务平台。重点研究了Seam的系统模型以及其总体架构、业务流程、功能模块和物理结构。应用结果表明,该方案可有效地集成和管理实现企业客户服务信息管理系统的网络化,系统实施之后,企业客户服务的工作效率得到了明显的提高。  相似文献

The independent not-for-profit, research & development (R&D) organization can contribute materially to the welfare and security of our populace. It is like a for-profit organization in the sense that it must operate in an effective mode and therefore has many similar operational characteristics. This paper succinctly summarizes important general operational elements, such as, income streams, principal business concerns, return-on-investment, business cycle, and principal tools. Other aspects given may be somewhat different from the norm. The operational needs may contain a different element that is termed staff technical advisory group. A key issue in enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation is how to find a match between the ERP system and an organization's business processes by appropriately customizing both the system and the organization. In this paper, we advance a framework for supporting management decision-making about customization choices and the capabilities required to accomplish them. In this framework, we identify various customization possibilities for business processes as well as ERP systems. We also identify technical and process change capabilities required for system and process customization. Combining customization options with change capabilities, we present a useful way for managers to identify feasible customization options for their particular organization. Such a framework also helps managers to recognize the gap between desired customization options and change capabilities. A case study is used to illustrate the application of the framework.  相似文献

Operational risk is a function of the complexity of the business and the environment that the business operates in. Such complexities increase as the business or the environment become more dynamic, i.e. where change is a permanent feature and a factor to build into the management of the business. The key question that arises is how do businesses respond to such changes today and, if the nature of the business and the environment is becoming more and more dynamic, what actions can businesses take to predict and prepare for change. Viewed in this manner, operational risk becomes very closely related to the operational performance of the enterprise because it can be considered as dealing with changes that have a negative impact on the operational objectives. It is vital for enterprises to understand in real time how they are performing, and where on the spectrum of operational risk they are positioned. To accomplish this, it is essential to have a system for establishing the status of a business at any moment in time in relation to its performance objectives. This is the role of real-time business intelligence (RTBI), without which operational risk management could be out of date, or in some cases out of synchronisation with the business cycle, with serious consequences. This paper discusses the cornerstones of RTBI and demonstrates how these are also essential elements of an effective operational risk management framework.  相似文献

Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) provides opportunities for lowering sustainment costs, improving maintenance decision-making, and providing product usage feedback into the product design and validation process. However, support for PHM is predicated on the articulation of clear business cases that quantify the expected cost and benefits of its implementation. The realization of PHM requires implementation at different levels of scale, and complexity. The maturity, robustness, and applicability of the underlying predictive algorithms impact the overall efficacy of PHM within an enterprise. The utility of PHM to inform decision-makers within tight scheduling constraints, and under different operational profiles likewise affects the cost avoidance that can be realized. This paper discusses the calculation of Return on Investment (ROI) for PHM activities, and presents a study conducted using a stochastic discrete event simulation model to determine the potential ROI offered by electronics PHM. The case study of a multifunctional display in a Boeing 737 compares the life cycle costs of a system employing unscheduled maintenance to the same system using a precursor to failure PHM approach.   相似文献

Business process reengineering (BPR) has made a significant impact on managers and academics. Despite the rhetoric surrounding BPR, articulated mechanisms, which support reasoning on the effect of the redesign activities to the performance of the business model, are still emerging. This paper describes an attempt to build and operate such a reasoning mechanism as a novel supplement to performance-driven change (PDC) exercises. This new approach proposes the utilization of the fuzzy causal characteristics of fuzzy cognitive maps (FCMs) as the underlying methodology in order to generate a hierarchical and dynamic network of interconnected performance indicators. By using FCMs, the proposed mechanism aims at simulating the operational efficiency of complex process models with imprecise relationships to quantify the impact of performance-driven reengineering activities. This research also establishes generic maps that supplement the strategic planning and business analysis phases of typical redesign projects in order to implement the integration of hierarchical FCMs into PDC activities. Finally, this paper discusses experiments with the proposed mechanism and comments on its usability.  相似文献
