Global mobility network (GLOMONET) provides global roaming service to ensure ubiquitous connectivity for users traveling from one network to another. It is very crucial not only to authenticate roaming users, but to protect the privacy of users. However, due to the broadcast nature of wireless channel and resource limitations of terminals, providing efficient user authentication with privacy preservation is challenging. Recently, He et al. proposed a secure and lightweight user authentication scheme with anonymity for roaming service in GLOMONETs. However, in this paper, we identify that the scheme fails to achieve strong two-factor security, and suffers from domino effect, privileged insider attack and no password change option, etc. Then we propose an enhanced authentication scheme with privacy preservation based on quadratic residue assumption. Our improved scheme enhances security strength of He et al.’s protocol while inheriting its merits of low communication and computation cost. Specifically, our enhanced scheme achieves two-factor security and user untraceability.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a novel privacy‐preserving registration protocol that combines the verifier local revocation group signature with mobile IP. The protocol could achieve strong security guarantee, such as user anonymity via a robust temporary identity, local user revocation with untraceability support, and secure key establishment against home server and eavesdroppers. Various kinds of adversary attacks can be prevented by the proposed protocol, especially that deposit‐case attack does not work here. Meanwhile, a concurrent mechanism and a dynamical revocation method are designed to minimize the handover authentication delay and the home registration signals. The theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed scheme could provide high security level besides lightweight computational cost and efficient communication performance. For instance, compared with Yang's scheme, the proposed protocol could decrease the falling speed of handover authentication delay up to about 40% with privacy being preserved. Machine‐type communication (MTC) is defined as an automatic aggregation, processing, and exchange of information among intelligent devices without humans intervention. With the development of immense embedded devices, MTC is emerging as the leading communication technology for a wide range of applications and services in the Internet of Things (IoT). For achieving the reliability and to fulfill the security requirements of IoT‐based applications, researchers have proposed some group‐based handover authentication and key agreement (AKA) protocols for mass MTCDs in LTE‐A networks. However, the realization of secure handover authentication for the group of MTCDs in IoT enabled LTE‐A network is an imminent issue. Whenever mass MTCDs enter into the coverage area of target base‐station simultaneously, the protocols incur high signaling congestion. In addition, the existing group‐based handover protocols suffer from the huge network overhead and numerous identified problems such as lack of key forward/backward secrecy, privacy‐preservation. Moreover, the protocols fail to avoid the key escrow problem and vulnerable to malicious attacks. To overcome these issues, we propose a secure and robust group‐based handover (SRGH) AKA protocol for mass MTCDs in LTE‐A network. The protocol establishes the group key update mechanism with forward/backward secrecy. The formal security proof demonstrates that the protocol achieves all the security properties including session key secrecy and data integrity. Furthermore, the formal verification using the AVISPA tool shows the correctness and informal analysis discusses the resistance from various security problems. The performance evaluation illustrates that the proposed protocol obtains substantial efficiency compared with the existing group‐based handover AKA protocols.  相似文献

To provide mutual authentication and communication confidentiality between mobile clients and servers, numerous identity‐based authenticated key agreement (ID‐AKA) protocols were proposed to authenticate each other while constructing a common session key. In most of the existing ID‐AKA protocols, ephemeral secrets (random values) are involved in the computations of the common session key between mobile client and server. Thus, these ID‐AKA protocols might become vulnerable because of the ephemeral‐secret‐leakage (ESL) attacks in the sense that if the involved ephemeral secrets are compromised, an adversary could compute session keys and reveal the private keys of participants in an AKA protocol. Very recently, 2 ID‐AKA protocols were proposed to withstand the ESL attacks. One of them is suitable for single server environment and requires no pairing operations on the mobile client side. The other one fits multi‐server environments, but requires 2 expensive pairing operations. In this article, we present a strongly secure ID‐AKA protocol resisting ESL attacks under mobile multi‐server environments. By performance analysis and comparisons, we demonstrate that our protocol requires the lowest communication overhead, does not require any pairing operations, and is well suitable for mobile devices with limited computing capability. For security analysis, our protocol is provably secure under the computational Diffie‐Hellman assumption in the random oracle model.  相似文献

Nowadays, authentication protocols are essential for secure communications specially for roaming networks, distributed computer networks, and remote wireless communication. The numerous users in these networks rise vulnerabilities. Thus, privacy‐preserving methods have to be run to provide more reliable services and sustain privacy. Anonymous authentication is a method to remotely authenticate users with no revelation about their identity. In this paper, we analyze 2 smart card–based protocols that the user's identity is anonymous. However, we represent that they are vulnerable to privileged insider attack. It means that the servers can compromise the users' identity for breaking their privacy. Also, we highlight that the Wen et al protocol has flaws in both stolen smart card and stolen server attacks and the Odelu et al protocol is traceable. Then, we propose 2 modified anonymous authentication protocols. Finally, we analyze our improved protocols with both heuristic and formal methods.  相似文献

In the past decades, the demand for remote mutual authentication and key agreement (MAKA) scheme with privacy preserving grows rapidly with the rise of the right to privacy and the development of wireless networks and Internet of Things (IoT). Numerous remote MAKA schemes are proposed for various purposes, and they have different properties. In this paper, we survey 49 three‐factor–based remote MAKA schemes with privacy preserving from 2013 to 2019. None of them can simultaneously achieve security, suitability for multiserver environments, user anonymity, user untraceability, table free, public key management free, and independent authentication. Therefore, we propose an efficient three‐factor MAKA scheme, which achieves all the properties. We propose a security model of a three‐factor–based MAKA scheme with user anonymity for multiserver environments and formally prove that our scheme is secure under the elliptic curve computational Diffie‐Hellman problem assumption, decisional bilinear Diffie‐Hellman problem assumption, and hash function assumption. We compare the proposed scheme to relevant schemes to show our contribution and also show that our scheme is sufficiently efficient for low‐power portable mobile devices.  相似文献

Secure Handover Authentication Protocol Based on Bilinear Pairings   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Handover authentication protocol enables a mobile node to switch from one base station to another without loss or interruption of service when the node exits the transmission area of his or her current base station. This paper proposes a secure prime-order handover authentication protocol based on bilinear pairings. The proposed protocol adapts the concept of pseudonyms to provide user anonymity and user unlinkability. It withstands well-known security threats and achieves mutual authentication, user unlinkability. A batch signature verification mechanism to verify a mass of signatures is presented in our scheme. We also prove that our scheme is secure under random oracle.  相似文献

In the last decade, the number of web‐based applications is increasing rapidly, which leads to high demand for user authentication protocol for multiserver environment. Many user‐authentication protocols have been proposed for different applications. Unfortunately, most of them either have some security weaknesses or suffer from unsatisfactory performance. Recently, Ali and Pal proposed a three‐factor user‐authentication protocol for multiserver environment. They claimed that their protocol can provide mutual authentication and is secure against many kinds of attacks. However, we find that Ali and Pal's protocol cannot provide user anonymity and is vulnerable to 4 kinds of attacks. To enhance security, we propose a new user‐authentication protocol for multiserver environment. Then, we provide a formal security analysis and a security discussion, which indicate our protocol is provably secure and can withstand various attacks. Besides, we present a performance analysis to show that our protocol is efficient and practical for real industrial environment.  相似文献

When one considers the broad range of wirelessly connected mobile devices used today, it is clear that integrating such network‐enabled devices into secure roaming over wireless networks is of essential importance. Over the years, many authentication protocols have been suggested to address this issue. Among these protocols, the recently proposed privacy‐preserving universal authentication protocol, Priauth, exceeds the security and efficiency of other authentication techniques. This paper studies the existing roaming authentication protocols and shows that they are not strong enough to provide secure roaming services in three aspects. Further, using Priauth as an example, we propose efficient remedies that fix the weaknesses. The experimental results show that the proposed approaches are feasible in practice. Because of the requirements of stringent latency, high‐connection density, and massive devices concurrent connection, the design of the security and efficient access authentication for massive devices is the key point to guarantee the application security under the future fifth Generation (5G) systems. The current access authentication mechanism proposed by 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) requires each device to execute the full access authentication process, which can not only incur a lot of protocol attacks but also result in signaling congestion on key nodes in 5G core networks when sea of devices concurrently request to access into the networks. In this paper, we design an efficient and secure privacy‐preservation access authentication scheme for massive devices in 5G wireless networks based on aggregation message authentication code (AMAC) technique. Our proposed scheme can accomplish the access authentication between massive devices and the network at the same time negotiate a distinct secret key between each device and the network. In addition, our proposed scheme can withstand a lot of protocol attacks including interior forgery attacks and DoS attacks and achieve identity privacy protection and group member update without sacrificing the efficiency. The Burrows Abadi Needham (BAN) logic and the formal verification tool: Automated Validation of Internet Security Protocols and Applications (AVISPA) and Security Protocol ANimator for AVISPA (SPAN) are employed to demonstrate the security of our proposed scheme.  相似文献

In order to ensure that the Mesh network mobile client video, voice and other real-time strong applications without interruption,a secure and efficient handover authentication was very important. To protect the privacy of mobile nodes,an anonymity handover authentication protocol was proposed based on group signature for wireless mesh network.Compared with other handover authentication protocols based on group signature, the proposed scheme did not involve the group signature correlation operation, and the group signature algorithm was only carried out on the router. The pro-posed protocol not only enhances the security but also performs well in authentication efficiency and privacy-preserving.  相似文献

Internet of Vehicles (IoV), as the next generation of transportation systems, tries to make highway and public transportation more secure than used to be. In this system, users use public channels for their communication so they can be the victims of passive or active attacks. Therefore, a secure authentication protocol is essential for IoV; consequently, many protocols are presented to provide secure authentication for IoV. In 2018, Yu et al proposed a secure authentication protocol for WSNs in vehicular communications and claimed that their protocol could satisfy all crucial security features of a secure authentication protocol. Unfortunately, we found that their protocol is susceptible to sensor capture attack, user traceability attack, user impersonation attack, and offline sink node's secret key guessing attack. In this paper, we propose a new authentication protocol for IoV which can solve the weaknesses of Yu et al's protocol. Our protocol not only provides anonymous user registration phase and revocation smart card phase but also uses the biometric template in place of the password. We use both Burrow‐Abadi‐Needham (BAN) logic and real‐or‐random (ROR) model to present the formal analysis of our protocol. Finally, we compare our protocol with other existing related protocols in terms of security features and computation overhead. The results prove that our protocol can provide more security features and it is usable for IoV system.  相似文献

Wearable devices, which provide the services of collecting personal data, monitoring health conditions, and so on, are widely used in many fields, ranging from sports to healthcare. Although wearable devices bring convenience to people's lives, they bring about significant security concerns, such as personal privacy disclosure and unauthorized access to wearable devices. To ensure the privacy and security of the sensitive data, it is critical to design an efficient authentication protocol suitable for wearable devices. Recently, Das et al proposed a lightweight authentication protocol, which achieves secure communication between the wearable device and the mobile terminal. However, we find that their protocol is vulnerable to offline password guessing attack and desynchronization attack. Therefore, we put forward a user centric three‐factor authentication scheme for wearable devices assisted by cloud server. Informal security analysis and formal analysis using ProVerif is executed to demonstrate that our protocol not only remedies the flaws of the protocol of Das et al but also meets desired security properties. Comparison with related schemes shows that our protocol satisfies security and usability simultaneously.  相似文献

To ensure the intactness of the stored data in cloud, numerous data public auditing mechanisms have been presented. However, most of these existing solutions suffer from several flaws: (a) identity privacy and data privacy of data owner are inevitably revealed to the auditor in the auditing process; (b) the existing public auditing mechanisms with resisting key exposure are only proved in the random oracle model. To address the problems above, in this paper, we propose an achieving identity‐and‐data privacy public auditing protocol with forward security in the standard model by incorporating knowledge proof signature, ring signature, and forward security technique. And then, we formalize the security model of forward security and anonymity of identity, in which the adversary is allowed to query private keys of some ring members. It can provide stronger security. Thus, our proposed scheme can not only achieve data owner's identity privacy and data privacy but also provide forward security for data owner's secret key. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first preserving privacy of identity‐and‐data public auditing scheme with forward security that is provably secure in the standard model. The security of the scheme is related to the computational Diffie–Hellman (CDH) problem and the subgroup decision problem. Finally, our scheme is simulatively tested; experimental results demonstrate that our mechanism is very efficient in terms of overall performance.  相似文献

Seamless roaming in the global mobility network (GLOMONET) is highly desirable for mobile users, although their proper authentication is challenging. This is because not only are wireless networks susceptible to attacks, but also mobile terminals have limited computational power. Recently, some authentication schemes with anonymity for the GLOMONET have been proposed. This paper shows some security weaknesses in those schemes. Furthermore, a lightweight and provably secure user authentication scheme with anonymity for the GLOMONET is proposed. It uses only symmetric cryptographic and hash operation primitives for secure authentication. Besides, it takes only four message exchanges among the user, foreign agent and home agent. We also demonstrate that this protocol enjoys important security attributes including prevention of various attacks, single registration, user anonymity, user friendly, no password/verifier table, and use of one‐time session key between mobile user and foreign agent. The security properties of the proposed protocol are formally validated by a model checking tool called AVISPA. Furthermore, as one of the new features in our protocol, it can defend smart card security breaches.

The fifth generation (5G) networks are characterized with ultra-dense deployment of base stations with limited footprint. Consequently, user equipment’s handover frequently as they move within 5G networks. In addition, 5G requirements of ultra-low latencies imply that handovers should be executed swiftly to minimize service disruptions. To preserve security and privacy while at the same time maintaining optimal performance during handovers, numerous schemes have been developed. However, majority of these techniques are either limited to security and privacy or address only performance aspect of the handover mechanism. As such, there is need for a novel handover authentication protocol that addresses security, privacy and performance simultaneously. This paper presents a machine learning protocol that not only facilitates optimal selection of target cell but also upholds both security and privacy during handovers. Formal security analysis using the widely adopted Burrows–Abadi–Needham (BAN) logic shows that the proposed protocol achieves all the six formulated under this proof. As such, the proposed protocol facilitates strong and secure mutual authentication among the communicating entities before generating the shares session key. The derived session key protected the exchanged packets to avert attacks such as forgery. In addition, informal security evaluation of the proposed protocol shows that it offers perfect forward key secrecy, mutual authentication any user anonymity. It is also demonstrated to be robust against attacks such as denial of service (DoS), man-in-the-middle (MitM), masquerade, packet replays and forgery. In terms of performance, simulation results shows that it has lower packets drop rate and ping–pong rate, with higher ratio of packets received compared with improved 5G authentication and key agreement (5G AKA’) protocol. Specifically, using 5G AKA’ as the basis, the proposed protocol reduces the handover rate by 94.4%, hence the resulting handover signaling is greatly minimized.

To ensure the security and privacy of patients’ health data in wireless body area network (WBAN),communication parties must be mutual authenticated. Now some bilinear pairings led to a larger computation cost for users and tree structure revocation would lead to larger user storage cost.In order to achieve revocation and reduce the cost of the user side,a novel revocable certificate less remote anonymous authentication protocol for WBAN was proposed by using elliptic curve cryptography and revoke algorithm that could revoke users by updating their time-private-keys.Security requirements including anonymity, mutual authentication and session key establishment were satisfied in proposed scheme.Compared with the existing schemes, the experimental analysis shows that the computation cost and storage cost of the authentication protocol are greatly reduced, which is more suitable for resource-constrained WBAN.Security analysis also shows that the protocol is secure in the random oracle model.  相似文献
