简单地给出了脉冲超宽带(IR-UWB)TH-PPM多址通信方式在信道加性白高斯噪声(AWGN)与多址用户干扰高斯近似条件下的误比特率推导过程。从接收端相关检测时多址用户信号与本地模板信号相互作用产生误相关输出的平均出发,假定多址用户干扰是零均值的高斯过程,分析计算多用户干扰的方差,通过数值计算与系统仿真比较了所得到的结果。  相似文献

In this work we study ultra wideband (UWB) communications over dense multipath channels using orthogonal pulse position modulation (PPM) for data modulation and time-hopping (TH) for code modulation. We consider the effects of the multiple access interference (MUI) in asynchronous spread spectrum multiple access (SSMA) based on random TH codes. We use a realistic multipath channel to analyze the effects of the transmission rate in the number of users for different bit error rate (BER) values.  相似文献

The multiple-user interference (MUI) in time-hopped impulse-radio ultrawide bandwidth (UWB) systems is impulse-like and poorly approximated by a Gaussian distribution. Therefore, conventional matched filter receiver designs, which are optimal for Gaussian noise, are not fully efficient for UWB applications. Several alternative distributions for approximating the MUI process and the MUI-plus-noise process in UWB systems are motivated and compared. These distributions have in common that they are more impulsive than the Gaussian approximation, with a greater area in the tails of the probability density function (pdf) compared to a Gaussian pdf. The improved MUI and MUI-plus-noise models are utilized to derive new receiver designs for UWB applications, which are shown to be superior to the conventional matched filter receiver. Multipath propagation is abundant in UWB channels and is exploited by a Rake receiver. A Rake receiver uses multiple fingers to comb the multipath rays with a conventional matched filter implemented in each finger. Rake structures utilizing the new receiver designs that are suitable for reception of UWB signals in multipath fading channels are provided. An optimal performance benchmark, based on an accurate theoretical model for the interference that fully explains the features of the MUI pdf, is also presented. Analysis and simulation results are shown for the novel receivers, which demonstrate that the new designs have superior performance compared to the conventional linear receiver when MUI is significant. Several adaptive receivers are shown to always match or exceed the performance of the conventional linear receiver in all MUI-plus-noise environments. Parameter estimation for the new receivers also is discussed.   相似文献

A single-chip ultra-wideband (UWB) receiver was developed using 0.18 mum CMOS technology, and inter-chip wireless data communication by integrated antennas was confirmed. Timing pulse and data pulse with on-off keying were alternately sent from a transmitting antenna. Double Gaussian monocycle pulse (GMP) template generators performed detections of timing and data pulses. A single GMP template, whose probability distribution of the pulse repetition cycle is given by Gaussian, showed a random jitter of 4.87 ps. Dual-Dirac model could explain the probability distribution of the cycle of double GMP template. Obtained random jitter and deterministic jitter were 4.6 ps and 14.4 ps, respectively. The receiver successfully recovered 200 Mbps data at the distance of 0.5 mm.  相似文献

由于收发信机之间的不同步、定时追踪及收发间的相对速率等因素所引起的时间抖动在超宽带通信中是不可避免的.详细推导出在单链路及多用户环境中时间抖动对高斯脉冲的跳时脉位调制超宽带系统的性能影响的数学表达式,并作了相应的仿真分析.结果表明,系统的抗时间抖动性能主要取决于单脉冲信号的自相关特性及引入时间抖动的严重程度.  相似文献

We study pulse-based ultra wideband (UWB) communications over multipath channels using asynchronous spread spectrum (SS) multiple access (MA) based on time-hopping (TH) and pulse position modulated (PPM) signals. More specifically, we analyze the signal-to-interference (SIR) degradation in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), multi-user interference (MUI), and dense multipath effects (DME) with line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS). In particular, we define a degradation margin factor for the combined MUI and multipath effects and also find an expression for the maximum number of simultaneous radio links Nu in terms of the operating SIR, the SS processing gain, and the bit transmission rate Rb. Ultra-wideband (UWB) impulse radio (IR) systems are currently being considered for several applications due to their attractive features that include low-power carrierless and ample multipath diversity. Among the various modulation and multiple-access schemes, time-hopping (TH) pulse position modulation (PPM) is a popular technique in application. Most past works rely on strict power control and perform single-user detection (matched filtering) on the desired signal. This paper aims to apply multiuser detection techniques in binary PPM (BPPM) UWB IR multiple-access systems. Moreover, we consider frequency-selective multipath fading channels to account for the wireless cellular environment. A class of linear multiuser detectors (LMDs) is applied to extract the information bits while eliminating multiuser interference (MUI) in the presence of multipath fading. Simulation results are provided to compare the performance of different LMDs.  相似文献

Transmitting digital information using ultra-short pulses, impulse radio (IR) has received increasing interest for multiple access (MA). When IRMA systems have to operate in dense multipath environments, the multiple user interference (MUI) and intersymbol interference (ISI) induced, adversely affect system capacity and performance. Analog IRMA utilizes pulse position modulation (PPM) and random time-hopping codes to mitigate ISI and suppress MUI statistically. We develop an all-digital IRMA scheme that relies on multistage block-spreading (MS-BS), and judiciously designed transceiver pairs to eliminate MUI deterministically, and regardless of ISI multipath effects. Our proposed MS-BS-IRMA system can accommodate a large number of users and is capable of providing different users with variable transmission rates, which is important for multimedia applications. Unlike conventional IRMA systems, MS-BS-IRMA exhibits no degradation in bit-error rate performance, as the number of users increases.  相似文献

Interference from IEEE 802.11a systems affects ultra‐wideband (UWB) systems significantly. In this letter, we suggest a novel narrow‐band interference (NBI) suppression technique based on the singular value decomposition (SVD) algorithm in time‐hopping pulse amplitude modulation (TH‐PAM) UWB systems. The SVD algorithm is used to approximate the interference which then is subtracted from the received signals. In contrast to the conventional notch filter and rake receiver, our method is more effective and the receiver complexity can be greatly reduced.  相似文献

根据联邦通信委员会关于超宽带辐射功率谱的限制以及适用于多址方式的窄脉冲要求,设计了一组基于Hermite函数的超宽带脉冲波形。所设计的脉冲波形具有正交性和不随阶数变化的恒定脉宽两个重要特性,从而提供了良好的防时间抖动性能并有效降低符号间干扰;为了评估相关接收机的性能,对设计脉冲信号的自相关和互相关函数的闭合表达式进行了推导;分析了跳时脉位调制超宽带系统中脉冲波形在加性高斯白噪声、多址干扰、多径衰落信道等多种环境下的误码率性能,探讨了时间抖动对系统性能的影响,并将仿真结果与高斯单周期脉冲进行比较。分析结果表明该脉冲设计方案提供了一种灵活而系统的超宽带脉冲设计方法,所设计脉冲既满足辐射功率谱限制又提供良好的系统误码性能。  相似文献

A characteristic function method is proposed for precisely calculating the bit-error probability of time-hopping (TH) ultra-wideband (UWB) systems with multiple-access interference in an additive white Gaussian noise environment. The analytical expressions are validated by simulation and used to assess the accuracy of the Gaussian approximation. The Gaussian approximation is shown to be inaccurate for predicting bit-error rates (BERs) for medium and large signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values. The performances of TH pulse position modulation (PPM) and binary phase-shift keying (BPSK) modulation schemes are accurately compared in terms of the BER. It is shown that the BPSK system outperforms the binary PPM system for all values of SNR. The sensitivity of the performance of the modulation schemes to the system parameters is also addressed through numerical examples.  相似文献

In this paper, the error performance of an ultra-wideband (UWB) system with a hybrid pulse amplitude and position modulation (PAPM) scheme over indoor lognormal fading channels is analyzed. In the PAPM UWB system, input data is modulated onto both the pulse amplitudes and pulse positions. The receiver employs a RAKE to combine energy contained in the resolvable multipath components. Derivation of closed-form error rate expressions of the system in lognormal fading channels is based on approximating a sum of independent lognormal random variables (RV) as another lognormal RV using the Wilkinson method. Given the same delay spread of the channel, the proposed PAPM scheme can provide a higher throughput than the binary pulse amplitude or pulse position modulation scheme.  相似文献

A Gaussian code division multiple access (CDMA) channel is shared by K active users who transmit asynchronously with BPSK modulation by independent binary data streams. A conventional direct sequence CDMA receiver has only limited capability for suppressing cochannel multiple user interference (MUI) from the K-1 other CDMA signals while attempting to receive and demodulate each CDMA signal. A new and efficient feedback receiver structure is described for coherent demodulation of the K asynchronous CDMA signals. By incorporating adaptive cancellation of the cochannel MUI in a feedback structure, the new design offers the following advantages: protection of the receiver's synchronization loops as well as its data demodulators against MUI; lower bit error rate (BER) than the conventional receiver for equal-strength as well as near-far MUI; and implementation simplicity close to that of the conventional CDMA receiver. It is shown that all the CDMA signals are canceled to a common level determined by N0, the one-sided power spectral density of the input AWGN; the bandwidth spreading ratio N; and K. The BER for any signal may be computed as if the N0 matched filter input were multiplied by the factor (6N/π)(1.5 N+1-K) for K⩽1.5 N. Computer simulations corroborate this result. A straightforward enhancement to the receiver structure is shown to allow it to overcome the deleterious affects of multipath propagation  相似文献

One of the main challenges in designing high-data-rate ultrawideband impulse radio (UWB-IR) systems is their sensitivity to intersymbol and interpulse interferences, which may significantly degrade the performance. This paper deals with new methods of protection against errors for UWB-IR systems operating in severe multipath interference-prone environments. The proposed and investigated techniques include interleaved coding modulation and polarity randomization applied in combination with superorthogonal convolutional coding or frame repetition. The performance of high-data-rate (125 Mb/s) coded UWB-IR systems is evaluated on the additive white Gaussian noise and realistic UWB channels that have recently been proposed by the IEEE. Our UWB-IR system incorporates a differential autocorrelation receiver, allowing for a simple hardware architecture. Through theoretical analysis of the bit error rate (BER) and the use of Monte Carlo simulations, we demonstrate that the application of the proposed methods may lead to significant performance improvements.   相似文献

Low duty-cycle (LDC) algorithm is interference mitigation technique, which can reduce the average interference to the existing radio systems by lowering pulse repetition interval or pulse occupation time. In this paper, the coexistence environment between low data rate ultra wideband (UWB) communication system such as wireless sensor network and the existing wideband system using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) such as 4th generation mobile cellular system (4G), worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX), and field pickup unit (FPU) is considered. In order to analyze the interference mitigation capability of LDC algorithm with impulse based UWB (LDC-UWB) system, the frame error rate (FER) of wideband OFDM system is examined for two types of LDC-UWB system: the signal with random polarity such as binary pole signals and without random polarity such as mono pole signals. We present that LDC algorithm is an efficient interference mitigation technique for low data rate UWB communication via computer simulations regardless of definitions of transmitted energy of UWB communication system, and also that the signal with random polarity is suitable for LDC-UWB system to mitigate interference to the other radio systems. We further investigate the adequate duty-cycle of LDC-UWB system for each definition of transmitted power of UWB communication.  相似文献

This paper proposes a simple delay-line (DL) downlink beamformer for pulsed ultra-wideband (UWB) systems to compensate for propagation delay, which is detrimental to UWB signals. Moreover, we propose a prefiltering-based transmission scheme at the fixed access point (i.e., base station) by shifting the signal processing needs from the receiver at the mobile unit to the transmitter where power and computational resources are plentiful. The DL transmitter array can steer signals to the direction of the desired mobile user such that the desired signals stemming from each antenna are coherently combined and the multiuser interference (MUI) is averaged out. Furthermore, the prefiltering scheme is composed of a set of time-reversed matched filters (TR MFs) subject to multiple-input single-output (MISO) finite impulse response (FIR) channels. A simple correlation receiver is proposed at the mobile unit to extract the information of the time-hopping (TH) UWB signal. This letter presents an analysis of the effect of narrowband interference (NBI) on ultrawideband (UWB) time-hopping (TH) systems in the presence of multipath fading using both analytical derivations and simulations. Our analysis demonstrates that NBI may be an issue in some instances. In addition, we suggest three NBI suppression schemes for combating NBI in UWB TH systems. Single-link performance of these schemes in conjunction with a Rake-type receiver structure is estimated for both the ideal all-Rake receiver and the simpler partial-Rake receiver in an indoor environment. Two UWB pulse shapes that meet the Federal Communications Commission rules for UWB communications are considered in the investigation.  相似文献

An integrated pulse based ultra-wide-band (UWB) transceiver front-end is presented in this paper. The pulse generator produces Gaussian modulated pulses satisfying Federal Communication Commission spectral mask with possibility for binary-phase shift keying modulation. The generated pulses have a bandwidth of 2 GHz from 3.1 to 5.1 GHz. The receiver front-end consists of an UWB low-noise amplifier (LNA). The transmit and receive paths are chosen by a transmit/receive (T/R) switch. The pulse generator, T/R switch and the LNA are integrated on a single chip and fabricated using 0.25-mum SiGe:C BiCMOS technology. The integrated circuit components are designed fully differential.
