The branching point of the side‐chain of naphthalenediimide (NDI)‐based conjugated polymers is systematically controlled by incorporating four different side‐chains, i.e., 2‐hexyloctyl (P(NDI1‐T)), 3‐hexylnonyl (P(NDI2‐T)), 4‐hexyldecyl (P(NDI3‐T)), and 5‐hexylundecyl (P(NDI4‐T)). When the branching point is located farther away from the conjugated backbones, steric hindrance around the backbone is relaxed and the intermolecular interactions between the polymer chains become stronger, which promotes the formation of crystalline structures in thin film state. In particular, thermally annealed films of P(NDI3‐T) and P(NDI4‐T), which have branching points far away from the backbone, possess more‐developed bimodal structure along both the face‐on and edge‐on orientations. Consequently, the field‐effect electron mobilities of P(NDIm‐T) polymers are monotonically increased from 0.03 cm2 V−1 s−1 in P(NDI1‐T) to 0.22 cm2 V−1 s−1 in P(NDI4‐T), accompanied by reduced activation energy and contact resistance of the thin films. In addition, when the series of P(NDIm‐T) polymers is applied in all‐polymer solar cells (all‐PSCs) as electron acceptor, remarkably high‐power conversion efficiency of 7.1% is achieved along with enhanced current density in P(NDI3‐T)‐based all‐PSCs, which is mainly attributed to red‐shifted light absorption and enhanced electron‐transporting ability.  相似文献

A high‐performance naphthalene diimide (NDI)‐based conjugated polymer for use as the active layer of n‐channel organic field‐effect transistors (OFETs) is reported. The solution‐processable n‐channel polymer is systematically designed and synthesized with an alternating structure of long alkyl substituted‐NDI and thienylene–vinylene–thienylene units (PNDI‐TVT). The material has a well‐controlled molecular structure with an extended π‐conjugated backbone, with no increase in the LUMO level, achieving a high mobility and highly ambient stable n‐type OFET. The top‐gate, bottom‐contact device shows remarkably high electron charge‐carrier mobility of up to 1.8 cm2 V?1 s?1 (Ion/Ioff = 106) with the commonly used polymer dielectric, poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). Moreover, PNDI‐TVT OFETs exhibit excellent air and operation stability. Such high device performance is attributed to improved π–π intermolecular interactions owing to the extended π‐conjugation, apart from the improved crystallinity and highly interdigitated lamellar structure caused by the extended π–π backbone and long alkyl groups.  相似文献

A new small‐molecule nonfullerene acceptor based on the benzo[1,2‐b:4,5‐b′]dithiophene (BDT) fused central core with asymmetrical alkoxy and thienyl side chains, namely TOBDT , is designed and synthesized. The alkoxy unit helps narrow the bandgap, and thienyl side chain helps enhance the intermolecular interaction. As a result, TOBDT is suitable to match the deep‐lying highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) of polymer donor PM6 . Then, a strong crystalline acceptor IDIC is introduced as the third component to fabricate as‐cast nonfullerene ternary devices to achieve absorption and morphology control. Addition of IDIC not only mixes well with TOBDT but modulates the morphology of the blend film, which helps to balance the charge transport properties and reduce the photovoltage loss of ternary devices. All these contribute to synergetic improvement of Jsc, Voc, and fill factor parameters, leading to a power conversion efficiency of 14.0% for the as‐cast fullerene‐free ternary device.  相似文献

Conjugated polymer semiconductors P1 and P2 with bithienopyrroledione (bi‐TPD) as acceptor unit are synthesized. Their transistor and photovoltaic performances are investigated. Both polymers display high and balanced ambipolar transport behaviors in thin‐film transistors. P1‐ based devices show an electron mobility of 1.02 cm2 V?1 s?1 and a hole mobility of 0.33 cm2 V?1 s?1, one of the highest performance reported for ambipolar polymer transistors. The electron and hole mobilities of P2 transistors are 0.36 and 0.16 cm2 V?1 s?1, respectively. The solar cells with PC71BM as the electron acceptor and P1/P2 as the donor exhibit a high V oc about 1.0 V, and a power conversion efficiency of 6.46% is observed for P1‐ based devices without any additives and/or post treatment. The high performance of P1 and P2 is attributed to their crystalline films and short π–π stacking distance (<3.5 Å). These results demonstrate (1) bi‐TPD is an excellent versatile electron‐deficient unit for polymer semiconductors and (2) bi‐TPD‐based polymer semiconductors have potential applications in organic transistors and organic solar cells.  相似文献

A synergetic effect of molecular weight (Mn) and fluorine (F) on the performance of all‐polymer solar cells (all‐PSCs) is comprehensively investigated by tuning the Mn of the acceptor polymer poly((N,N′‐bis(2‐octyldodecyl)‐naphthalene‐1,4,5,8‐bis(dicarboximide)‐2,6‐diyl)‐alt‐5,5′‐(2,2′‐bithiophene)) (P(NDI2OD‐T2)) and the F content of donor polymer poly(2,3‐bis‐(3‐octyloxyphenyl)quinoxaline‐5,8‐dyl‐alt‐thiophene‐2,5‐diyl). Both Mn and F variations strongly influence the charge transport properties and morphology of the blend films, which have a significant impact on the photovoltaic performance of all‐PSCs. In particular, the effectiveness of high Mn in increasing power conversion efficiency (PCE) can be greatly improved by the devices based on optimum F content, reaching a PCE of 7.31% from the best all‐PSC combination. These findings enable us to further understand the working principles of all‐PSCs with a view on achieving even higher power conversion efficiency in the future.  相似文献

Tuning the side chains of conjugated polymers is a simple, yet effective strategy for modulating their structural and electrical properties, but their impact on n‐type conjugated polymers has not been studied extensively, particularly in the area of all‐polymer solar cells (all‐PSCs). Herein, the effects of side chain engineering of P(NDI2OD‐T2) polymer (also known as Polyera Activink N2200) are investigated, which is the most widely used n‐type polymer in all‐PSCs and organic field‐effect transistors (OFETs), on their structural and electronic properties. A series of naphthalenediimide‐bithiophene‐based copolymers (P(NDIR‐T2)) is synthesized, with different side chains (R) of 2‐hexyldecyl (2‐HD), 2‐octyldodecyl (2‐OD), and 2‐decyltetradecyl (2‐DT). The P(NDI2HD‐T2) exhibits more noticeable crystalline behaviors than P(NDI2OD‐T2) and P(NDI2DT‐T2), thereby facilitating superior 3D charge transport. For example, the P(NDI2HD‐T2) shows the highest OFET electron mobility (1.90 cm2 V?1 s?1). Also, a series of all‐PSCs is produced using different electron donors of PTB7‐Th, PTB7, and PPDT2FBT. The P(NDI2HD‐T2) based all‐PSCs produce much higher power conversion efficiency (PCE) irrespective of the electron donors. In particular, the PTB7‐Th:P(NDI2HD‐T2) forms highly ordered, strong face‐on interchain stackings, and has better intermixed bulk‐heterojunction morphology, producing the highest PCE of 6.11% that has been obtained by P(NDIR‐T2) based all‐PSCs to date.  相似文献

The fluorobenzotriazole (FTAZ)‐based copolymer donors are promising candidates for nonfullerene polymer solar cells (PSCs), but suffer from relatively low photovoltaic performance due to their unsuitable energy levels and unfavorable morphology. Herein, three polymer donors, L24 , L68 , and L810 , based on a chlorinated‐thienyl benzodithiophene (BDT‐2Cl) unit and FTAZ with different branched alkyl side chain, are synthesized. Incorporation of a chlorine (Cl) atom into the BDT unit is found to distinctly optimize the molecular planarity, energy levels, and improve the polymerization activity. Impressively, subtle side chain length of FTAZ realizes a dramatic improvement in all the device parameters, as revealed by the short‐current density (Jsc) improved from 7.41 to 20.76 mA cm?2, fill‐factor from 36.3 to 73.5%, and even the open‐circuit voltage (Voc) from 0.495 to 0.790 V. The best power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 12.1% is obtained from the L810‐based device, which is one of the highest values reported for FTAZ‐based PSCs so far. Notably, the corresponding external quantum efficiency curve keeps a very prominent value up to 80% from 500 to 800 nm. The notable performance is discovered from the reduced energy loss, improved molecular face‐on orientation, the down‐shifted energy levels, and optimized absorption coefficient regulated by side‐chain engineering.  相似文献

High charge carrier mobility solution‐processed n‐channel organic thin‐film transistors (OTFTs) based on core‐chlorinated naphthalene tetracarboxylic diimides (NDIs) with fluoroalkyl chains are demonstrated. These OTFTs were prepared through a solution shearing method. Core‐chlorination of NDIs not only increases the electron mobilities of OTFTs, but also enhances their air stability, since the chlorination in the NDI core lowers the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) levels. The air‐stability of dichlorinated NDI was better than that of the tetrachlorinated NDIs, presumably due to the fact that dichlorinated NDIs have a denser packing of the fluoroalkyl chains and less grain boundaries on the surface, reducing the invasion pathway of ambient oxygen and moisture. The devices of dichlorinated NDIs exhibit good OTFT performance, even after storage in air for one and a half months. Charge transport anisotropy is observed from the dichlorinated NDI. A dichlorinated NDI with ?CH2C3F7 side chains reveals high mobilities of up to 0.22 and 0.57 cm2 V?1 s?1 in parallel and perpendicular direction, respectively, with regard to the shearing direction. This mobility anisotropy is related to the grain morphology. In addition, we find that the solution‐shearing deposition affects the molecular orientation in the crystalline thin films and lowers the d(001)‐spacing (the out‐of‐plane interlayer spacing), compared to the vapor‐deposited thin films. Core‐chlorinated NDI derivatives are found to be highly suitable for n‐channel active materials in low‐cost solution‐processed organic electronics.  相似文献

Organic solar cells utilizing the small molecule donor 7,7′‐(4,4‐bis(2‐ethylhexyl)‐4H‐silolo[3,2‐b:4,5‐b′]dithiophene‐2,6‐diyl)bis(6‐fluoro‐4‐(5′‐hexyl‐[2,2′‐bithiophen]‐5‐yl)benzo[c][1,2,5] thiadiazole) (p‐DTS(FBTTh2)2 and the polymer acceptor poly{[N,N′‐bis(2‐octyldodecyl)‐1,4,5,8‐naphthalenedicarboximide‐2,6‐diyl]‐alt‐5,5′‐(2,2′‐bithiophene)}(P(NDI2OD‐T2)) are investigated and a power conversion efficiency of 2.1% is achieved. By systematic study of bulk heterojunction (BHJ) organic photovoltaic (OPV) quantum efficiency, film morphology, charge transport and extraction and exciton diffusion, the loss processes in this blend is revealed compared to the blend of [6,6]‐phenyl‐C71‐butyric acid methyl ester (PC71BM) and the same donor. An exciton diffussion study using Förster resonant energy transfer (FRET) shows the upper limit of the P(NDI2OD‐T2) exciton diffusion length to be only 1.1 nm. The extremely low exciton diffusion length of P(NDI2OD‐T2), in combination with the overlap in donor and acceptor absorption, is then found to significantly limit device performance. These results suggest that BHJ OPV devices utilizing P(NDI2OD‐T2) as an acceptor material will likely be limited by its low exciton diffusion length compared to devices utilizing functionalized fullerene acceptors, especially when P(NDI2OD‐T2) significantly competes with the donor molecule for photon absorption.  相似文献

One of the most promising approaches to achieve high‐performance polymer solar cells (PSCs) is to develop nonfullerene small molecule acceptors (SMAs) with an absorption extending to the near‐infrared (NIR) region. In this work, two novel SMAs, namely, BTTIC and BTOIC, are designed and synthesized, with optical bandgaps (Egopt) of 1.47 and 1.39 eV, respectively. Desipte the narrow Egopt, the PBDB‐T:BTTIC‐ and PBDB‐T:BTOIC‐based PSCs can maintain high VOCs of over 0.90 and 0.86 V, respectively, with low energy losses (Eloss) < 0.6 eV. Meanwhile, due to the favorable morphology of the PBDB‐T:BTTIC blend, balanced carrier mobilities are achieved. The high external quantum efficiencies enable a high power conversion efficiency (PCE) up to 13.18% for the PBDB‐T:BTTIC‐based PSCs. In comparison, BTOIC shows an excessive crystallization propensity owing to its oxyalkyl side groups, which eventually leads to a relatively low PCE for the PBDB‐T:BTOIC‐based PSCs. Overall, this work provides insights into the design of novel NIR‐absorbing SMAs for nonfullerene PSCs.  相似文献

[6, 6]‐Phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PC60BM) is the widely used acceptor material in polymer solar cells (PSCs). Nevertheless, the low LUMO energy level and weak absorption in visible region are its two weak points. For enhancing the solar light harvest, the soluble C70 derivative PC70BM has been used as acceptor instead of PC60BM in high efficiency PSCs in recent years. But, the LUMO level of PC70BM is the same as that of PC60BM, which is too low for the PSCs based on the polymer donors with higher HOMO level, such as poly (3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT). Here, a new soluble C70 derivative, indene‐C70 bisadduct (IC70BA), is synthesized with high yield of 58% by a one‐pot reaction of indene and C70 at 180 °C for 72 h. The electrochemical properties and electronic energy levels of the fullerene derivatives are measured by cyclic voltammetry. The LUMO energy level of IC70BA is 0.19 eV higher than that of PC70BM. The PSC based on P3HT with IC70BA as acceptor shows a higher Voc of 0.84 V and higher power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 5.64%, while the PSC based on P3HT/PC60BM and P3HT/PC70BM displays Voc of 0.59 V and 0.58 V, and PCE of 3.55% and 3.96%, respectively, under the illumination of AM1.5G, 100 mW cm?2. The results indicate that IC70BA is an excellent acceptor for the P3HT‐based PSCs and could be a promising new acceptor instead of PC70BM for the high performance PSCs based on narrow bandgap conjugated polymer donor.  相似文献

The considerable improvement on the power conversion efficiency (PCE) for emerging nonfullerene polymer solar cells is still limited by considerable voltage losses that have become one of the most significant obstacles in further boosting desired photovoltaic performance. Here, a comprehensive study is reported to understand the impacts of charge transport, energetic disorder, and charge transfer states (CTS) on the losses in open‐circuit voltage (Voc) based on three high performing bulk heterojunction solar cells with the best PCE exceeding 11%. It is found that the champion poly[(2,6‐(4,8‐bis(5‐(2‐ethylhexyl)thiophen‐2‐yl)benzo[1,2‐b:4,5‐b′]dithiophene)‐co‐(1,3‐di(5‐thiophene‐2‐yl)‐5,7‐bis(2‐ethylhexyl)‐benzo[1,2‐c:4,5‐c′]dithiophene‐4,8‐dione))] (PBDB‐T):IT‐M solar cell (PCE = 11.5%) is associated with the least disorder. The determined energetic disorder in part reconciles the difference in Voc between the solar cells. A reduction is observed in the nonradiative losses (ΔVnonrad) coupled with the increase of energy of CTS for the PBDB‐T:IT‐M device, which may be related to the improved balance in carrier mobilities, and partially can explain the gain in Voc. The determined radiative limit for Voc combined with the ΔVnonrad generates an excellent agreement for the Voc with the experimental values. The results suggest that minimizing the energetic disorder related to transport and CTS is critical for the mitigation of Voc losses and improvements on the device performance.  相似文献

An ambipolar conjugated polymer CF3‐PBTV, poly(2,2′‐bis(trifluoromethyl)biphenyl‐alt‐2,5‐divinylthiophene), consisting of thienylenevinylene as the donor and trifluoromethyl‐substituted biphenyl as the acceptor has been successfully synthesized. CF3‐PBTV shows solution‐processability without electrically insulating long alkyl side chains. Grazing incidence X‐ray diffraction results suggest a nearly equal population of flat‐on and end‐on domains in CF3‐PBTV thin film. The excellent ambipolarity of CF3‐PBTV is demonstrated by well‐equivalent charge mobilities of 0.065 and 0.078 cm2 V?1 s?1 for p‐ and n‐channel, respectively. The organic field‐effect transistors (OFET) also shows very high on/off ratio (≈107) which is attributed to the relatively large bandgap and low‐lying highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) of CF3‐PBTV. The OFET performance barely changes after the device is stored in ambient conditions for 90 days. The ambient‐stability is attributed to the enhanced oxidative stability from its low‐lying HOMO and the better moisture resistance from its fluorine contents. The performance of CF3‐PBTV based OFET is annealing independent. It is noteworthy that the solution‐processable, ambipolar, and thienylenevinylene‐containing conjugated polymer without any long alkyl side chains is reported for the first time. And to the best of our knowledge, it is the first ambient‐stable, annealing‐free OFET with well‐equivalent ambipolarity.  相似文献

This study reports a new nonfullerene electron transporting material (ETM) based on naphthalene diimide (NDI) small molecules for use in high‐performance perovskite solar cells (PSCs). These solar cells simultaneously achieve high power conversion efficiency (PCE) of over 20% and long‐term stability. New NDI‐ID (N,N′‐Bis(1‐indanyl)naphthalene‐1,4,5,8‐tetracarboxylic diimide) consisting of an N‐substituted indane group having simultaneous alicyclic and aromatic characteristics is synthesized by a low‐cost, one‐step reaction, and facile purification method. The partially flexible characteristics of an alicyclic cyclopentene group on indane groups open the possibility of low‐temperature solution processing. The conformational rigidity and aromaticity of phenyl and alicyclic groups contribute to high temporal stability by strong secondary bonds. NDI‐ID has herringbone packed semiconducting NDI cores that exhibit up to 0.2 cm2 V?1 s?1 electron mobility in field effect transistors. The inverted PSCs based on CH(NH2)2PbI3–xBrx with NDI‐ID ETM exhibit very high PCEs of up to 20.2%, which is better than that of widely used PCBM (phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester) ETM‐based PSCs. Moreover, NDI‐ID‐based PSCs exhibit very high long‐term temporal stability, retaining 90% of the initial PCE after 500 h at 100 °C with 1 sun illumination without encapsulation. Therefore, NDI‐ID is a promising ETM for highly efficient, stable PSCs.  相似文献

Unipolar n‐type semiconducting polymers based on the benzobisthiadiazole (BBT) unit and its heteroatom‐substituted derivatives are for the first time synthesized by the D‐A1‐D‐A2 polymer‐backbone design strategy. Selenium (Se) substitution is a very effective molecular design, but it has been seldom studied in n‐type polymers. In this study, within the similar conjugated framework, the Se substitution effects on the optical, electrochemical, solid‐state polymer packing, electron mobility, and air‐stability of the target unipolar n‐type polymers are unraveled. Replacing the sulfur (S) atom in the thiadiazole heterocycles with the Se atom leads to narrower bandgaps and deeper lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) levels of the n‐type polymers. Furthermore, the Se‐substituted polymer (pSeN‐NDI) shows shorter lamellar packing distances and stronger edge‐on π–π stacking interactions than its S‐counterpart (pSN‐NDI), as observed by the two‐dimensional grazing‐incidence wide‐angle X‐ray scattering (GIWAXS) patterns. With the deeper LUMO level and thin‐film microstructures suitable for transistors, pSeN‐NDI exhibits four‐fold higher electron mobilities (μe) than pSN‐NDI. However, the other Se‐containing polymer, pSeS‐NDI, forms rather amorphous film structures, which is caused by its limited thermal stability and decomposition during the thermal annealing processes, thus giving rise to a lower μe than its S‐counterpart (pBBT‐NDI). Most importantly, pBBT‐NDI demonstrates an electron mobility of 0.039 cm2 V?1 s?1, which is noticeable among the unipolar n‐type polymers based on the BBT and its analogs.  相似文献

Interdependence of chemical structure, thin‐film morphology, and transport properties is a key, yet often elusive aspect characterizing the design and development of high‐mobility, solution‐processed polymers for large‐area and flexible electronics applications. There is a specific need to achieve >1 cm2 V?1 s?1 field‐effect mobilities (μ) at low processing temperatures in combination with environmental stability, especially in the case of electron‐transporting polymers, which are still lagging behind hole transporting materials. Here, the synthesis of a naphthalene‐diimide based donor–acceptor copolymer characterized by a selenophene vinylene selenophene donor moiety is reported. Optimized field‐effect transistors show maximum μ of 2.4 cm2 V?1 s?1 and promising ambient stability. A very marked film structural evolution is revealed with increasing annealing temperature, with evidence of a remarkable 3D crystallinity above 180 °C. Conversely, transport properties are found to be substantially optimized at 150 °C, with limited gain at higher temperature. This discrepancy is rationalized by the presence of a surface‐segregated prevalently edge‐on packed polymer phase, dominating the device accumulated channel. This study therefore serves the purpose of presenting a promising, high‐electron‐mobility copolymer that is processable at relatively low temperatures, and of clearly highlighting the necessity of specifically investigating channel morphology in assessing the structure–property nexus in semiconducting polymer thin films.  相似文献

The vast majority of ternary organic solar cells are obtained by simply fabricating bulk heterojunction (BHJ) active layers. Due to the inappropriate distribution of donors and acceptors in the vertical direction, a new method by fabricating pseudoplanar heterojunction (PPHJ) ternary organic solar cells is proposed to better modulate the morphology of active layer. The pseudoplanar heterojunction ternary organic solar cells (P‐ternary) are fabricated by a sequential solution treatment technique, in which the donor and acceptor mixture blends are sequentially spin‐coated. As a consequence, a higher power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 14.2% is achieved with a Voc of 0.79 V, Jsc of 25.6 mA cm?2, and fill factor (FF) of 69.8% compared with the ternary BHJ system of 13.8%. At the same time, the alloyed acceptor is likely formed between two the acceptors through a series of in‐depth explorations. This work suggests that nonfullerene alloyed acceptor may have great potential to realize effective P‐ternary organic solar cells.  相似文献

The photovoltaic performance and optoelectronic properties of a donor–acceptor copolymer are reported based on indacenodithienothiophene (IDTT) and 2,3‐bis(3‐(octyloxy)phenyl)quinoxaline moieties (PIDTTQ) as a function of the number‐average molecular weight (Mn). Current–voltage measurements and photoinduced charge carrier extraction by linear increasing voltage (photo‐CELIV) reveal improved charge generation and charge transport properties in these high band gap systems with increasing Mn, while polymers with low molecular weight suffer from diminished charge carrier extraction because of low mobility–lifetime (μτ) product. By combining Fourier‐transform photocurrent spectroscopy (FTPS) with electroluminscence spectroscopy, it is demonstrate that increasing Mn reduces the nonradiative recombination losses. Solar cells based on PIDTTQ with Mn = 58 kD feature a power conversion efficiency of 6.0% and a charge carrier mobility of 2.1 × 10?4 cm2 V?1 s?1 when doctor bladed in air, without the need for thermal treatment. This study exhibits the strong correlations between polymer fractionation and its optoelectronics characteristics, which informs the polymer design rules toward highly efficient organic solar cells.  相似文献

Optimization and analysis of conjugated polymer side chains for high‐performance organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs) reveal a critical relationship between the chemical structure of the side chains and photovoltaic properties of polymer‐based bulk heterojunction OPVs. In particular, the impact of the alkyl side chain length on the π‐bridging (thienothiophene, TT) unit is considered by designing and synthesizing a series of benzodithiophene derivatives (BDT(T)) and thieno[3,2‐b]thiophene‐π‐bridged thieno[3,4‐c]pyrrole‐4,6(5H)‐dione (ttTPD) alternating copolymers, PBDT(T)‐(R2)ttTPD, with alkyl chains of varying length on the TT unit. Using a combination of 2D X‐ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and electrical device characterization, it is elucidated in detail how these subtle changes to the chemical structure affect the molecular conformation, thin film molecular packing, blend film morphology, optoelectronic properties, and hence overall photovoltaic performance. For copolymers employing both the alkoxy or alkylthienyl‐substituted BDT motifs, it is found that octyl side chains on TT unit yield the maximum degree of molecular backbone coplanarity and result in the highest quality of molecular packing and optimized hole mobility. Inverted devices fabricated using this PBDTT‐8ttTPD: polymer/[6,6]‐phenyl‐C71‐butylic acid methyl ester active layer show a maximum power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 8.7% with large area cells (0.64 cm2) maintaining a PCE of 7.5%.  相似文献

A simple and effective modification of phenyl‐C70‐butyric acid methyl ester (PC70BM) is carried out in a single step after which the material is used as electron acceptor for bulk heterojunction polymer solar cells (PSCs). The modified PC70BM, namely CN‐PC70BM, showed broader and stronger absorption in the visible region (350–550 nm) of the solar spectrum than PC70BM because of the presence of a cyanovinylene 4‐nitrophenyl segment. The lowest unoccupied molecular energy level (LUMO) of CN‐PC70BM is higher than that of PC70BM by 0.15 eV. The PSC based on the blend (cast from tetrahydrofuran (THF) solution) consists of P3HT as the electron donor and CN‐PC70BM as the electron acceptor and shows a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 4.88%, which is higher than that of devices based on PC70BM as the electron acceptor (3.23%). The higher PCE of the solar cell based on P3HT:CN‐PC70BM is related to the increase in both the short circuit current (Jsc) and the open circuit voltage (Voc). The increase in Jsc is related to the stronger light absorption of CN‐PC70BM in the visible region of the solar spectrum as compared to that of PC70BM. In other words, more excitons are generated in the bulk heterojunction (BHJ) active layer. On the other hand, the higher difference between the LUMO of CN‐PC70BM and the HOMO of P3HT causes an enhancement in the Voc. The addition of 2% (v/v) 1‐chloronapthalene (CN) to the THF solvent during film deposition results in an overall improvement of the PCE up to 5.83%. This improvement in PCE can be attributed to the enhanced crystallinity of the blend (particularly of P3HT) and more balanced charge transport in the device.  相似文献
