To describe the work hardening process of polycrystals processed using various thermomechanical cycles with isochronal annealing from 500 to 900 °C, a dislocation based strain hardening model constructed in the basis of the so-called Kocks–Mecking model is proposed. The time and temperature dependence of flow stress is accounted via grain boundary migration, and the migration is related to annihilation of extrinsic grain boundary dislocations (EGBD’s) by climb via lattice diffusion of vacancies at the triple points. Recovery of yield stress is associated with changes in the total dislocation density term ρT. A sequence of deformation and annealing steps generally result in reduction of flow stress via the annihilation of the total dislocation density ρT defined as the sum of geometrically necessary dislocations ρG and statistically stored dislocations ρS. The predicted variation of yield stress with annealing temperature and cold working stages is in agreement with experimental observations. An attempt is made to determine the mathematical expressions which best describe the deformation behaviour of polycrystals in uniaxial deformation.  相似文献

A basic theorem for representing the Airy stress function for two perfectly bonded semi-infinite planes in terms of the corresponding Airy function for the unbounded homogeneous plane is applied in a systematic stepwise fashion to generate the corresponding Airy stress function for a three-phase composite comprising two semi-infinite planes separated by a thick layer. The loading of the three-phase composite is arbitrary, and may be in or near the interface layer. The basic theorem is first illustrated by applying it to an elastic medium which is bounded by two unloaded straight edges which intersect at an angle π/n, where n is a positive integer. This example illustrates a case of a finite system of images, while the plane-layered medium problem leads to an infinite series of images.  相似文献

Suitable macroscopic quantities beyond effective elastic properties are used to assess the distribution of stress within a composite. The composite is composed of N anisotropic linearly elastic materials and the length scale of the microstructure relative to the loading is denoted by ε. The stress distribution function inside the composite λε(t) gives the volume of the set where the norm of the stress exceeds the value t. The analysis focuses on the case when 0<ε?1. A rigorous upper bound on limε→0λε(t) is found. The bound is given in terms of a macroscopic quantity called the macro stress modulation function. It is used to provide a rigorous assessment of the volume of over stressed regions near stress concentrators generated by reentrant corners or by an abrupt change of boundary loading.  相似文献

We prove Lp-Lq estimates of the Oseen semigroup in n-dimensional exterior domains which refine and improve those obtained by Kobayashi and Shibata [15]. As an application, we give a globally in time stability theory for the stationary Navier–Stokes flow whose velocity at infinity is a non-zero constant vector. We thus extend the result of Shibata [21]. In particular, we find an optimal rate of convergence of solutions of the non-stationary problem to those of the corresponding stationary problem.  相似文献

We consider the problem on the motion of an isotropic elastic body occupying the half-space z ≥ 0 on whose boundary, along the half-plane x ≥ 0, the horizontal components of displacement are given, while the remaining part of the boundary is stress-free. We seek the solution by the method of integral Laplace transforms with respect to time t and Fourier transforms with respect to the coordinates x, y; the problem is reduced to a system of Wiener-Hopf equations, which can be solved by the methods of singular-integral equations and circulants. We invert the integral transforms and reduce the solution to the Smirnov-Sobolev form. We calculate the tangential stress intensity coefficients near the boundary z = 0, x = 0, |y| < ∞ of the half-plane. The circulant method for solving the Wiener-Hopf system was proposed in [1]. A static problem similar to that considered in the present paper was solved earlier. The Hilbert problem was reduced to a system of Fredholm integral equations in [2]. In the present paper, we solve the above problem by reducing the solution to quadratures and a quasiregular system of Fredholm integral equations. We give a numerical solution of the Fredholm equations and calculate the integrals for the tangential stress intensity coefficients.  相似文献

We propose an approach to the definition and analysis of material instabilities in rate-independent standard dissipative solids at finite strains based on finite-step-sized incremental energy minimization principles. The point of departure is a recently developed constitutive minimization principle for standard dissipative materials that optimizes a generalized incremental work function with respect to the internal variables. In an incremental setting at finite time steps this variational problem defines a quasi-hyperelastic stress potential. The existence of this potential allows to be recast a typical incremental boundary-value problem of quasi-static inelasticity into a principle of minimum incremental energy for standard dissipative solids. Mathematical existence theorems for sufficiently regular minimizers then induce a definition of the material stability of the inelastic material response in terms of the sequentially weakly lower semicontinuity of the incremental variational functional. As a consequence, the incremental material stability of standard dissipative solids may be defined in terms of the quasi-convexity or the rank-one convexity of the incremental stress potential. This global definition includes the classical local Hadamard condition but is more general. Furthermore, the variational setting opens up the possibility to analyze the post-critical development of deformation microstructures in non-stable inelastic materials based on energy relaxation methods. We outline minimization principles of quasi- and rank-one convexifications of incremental non-convex stress potentials for standard dissipative solids. The general concepts are applied to the analysis of evolving deformation microstructures in single-slip plasticity. For this canonical model problem, we outline details of the constitutive variational formulation and develop numerical and semi-analytical solution methods for a first-level rank-one convexification. A set of representative numerical investigations analyze the development of deformation microstructures in the form of rank-one laminates in single slip plasticity for homogeneous macro-deformation modes as well as inhomogeneous macroscopic boundary-value problems. The well-posedness of the relaxed variational formulation is indicated by an independence of typical finite element solutions on the mesh-size.  相似文献

We investigate the flow between a shallow rotating cone and a stationary plate. This cone and plate device is used in rheometry, haemostasis as well as in food industry to study the properties of the flow w.r.t. shear stress. Physical experiments and formal computations show that close to the apex the flow is approximately azimuthal and the shear-stress is constant within the device, the quality of the approximation being controlled essentially by the single parameter Re 2, where Re is the Reynolds number and the thinness of the cone-plate gap. We establish this fact by means of rigorous energy estimates and numerical simulations. Surprisingly enough, this approximation is valid though the primary flow is not itself a solution of the Navier-Stokes equations, and it does not even fulfill the correct boundary conditions, which are in this particular case discontinuous along a line, thus not allowing for a usual Leray solution. To overcome this difficulty we construct a suitable corrector.  相似文献

We study controllability issues for 2D and 3D Navier–Stokes (NS) systems with periodic boundary conditions. The systems are controlled by a degenerate (applied to few low modes) forcing. Methods of differential geometric/Lie algebraic control theory are used to establish global controllability of finite-dimensional Galerkin approximations of 2D and 3D NS and Euler systems, global controllability in finite-dimensional projection of 2D NS system and L2-approximate controllability for 2D NS system. Beyond these main goals we obtain results on boundedness and continuous dependence of trajectories of 2D NS system on degenerate forcing, when the space of forcings is endowed with so called relaxation metric.  相似文献

Thermodynamically and mathematically consistent constitutive equations suitable for shock wave propagation in an anisotropic material are presented in this paper. Two fundamental tensors αij and βij which represent anisotropic material properties are defined and can be considered as generalisations of the Kronecker delta symbol, which plays the main role in the theory of isotropic materials. Using two fundamental tensors αij and βij, the concept of total generalised “pressure” and pressure corresponding to the thermodynamic (equation of state) response are redefined. The equation of state represents mathematical and physical generalisation of the classical Mie–Grüneisen equation of state for isotropic material and reduces to the Mie–Grüneisen equation of state in the limit of isotropy. Based on the generalised decomposition of the stress tensor, the modified equation of state for anisotropic materials, and the modified Hill criteria, combined with the associated flow rule, a system of constitutive equations suitable for shock wave propagation is formulated. The behaviour of aluminium alloy 7010-T6 under shock loading conditions is considered. A comparison of numerical simulations with existing experimental data shows good agreement of the general pulse shape, Hugoniot Elastic Limits (HELs), and Hugoniot stress levels, and suggests that the constitutive equations are performing satisfactorily. The results are presented and discussed, and future studies are outlined.  相似文献

We consider the problem of classifying partial differential equations of the three-dimensional problem of ideal plasticity (for stress states corresponding to an edge of the Tresca prism) and the problem of finding a change of independent variables reducing these equations to the simplest normal Cauchy form. The original system of equations is represented in an isostatic coordinate system and is substantially nonlinear. We state a criterion for the simplest normal Cauchy form and find a coordinate system reducing the original system to the simplest normal Cauchy form. We show that the condition obtained in the present paper for a system to take the simplest normal form is stronger than the Petrovskii t-hyperbolicity condition if t is understood as the canonical isostatic coordinate whose level surfaces in space form fibers normal to the principal direction field corresponding to the maximum (minimum) principal stress.  相似文献

The aim of this work is to construct yield surfaces to describe initial yielding and characterize hardening behavior of a highly anisotropic material. A methodology for constructing yield surfaces for isotropic materials using axial–torsion loading is extended to highly anisotropic materials. The technique uses a sensitive definition of yielding based on permanent strain rather than offset strain, and enables multiple yield points and multiple yield surfaces to be conducted on a single specimen. A target value of 20 × 10−6 is used for Al2O3 fiber reinforced aluminum laminates having a fiber volume fraction of 0.55. Sixteen radial probes are used to define the yield locus in the axial–shear stress plane. Initial yield surfaces for [04], [904], and [0/90]2 fibrous aluminum laminates are well described by ellipses in the axial–shear stress plane having aspect ratios of 10, 2.5, and 3.3, respectively. For reference, the aspect ratio of the Mises ellipse for an isotropic material is 1.73. Initial yield surfaces do not have a tension–compression asymmetry. Four overload profiles (plus, ex, hourglass, and zee) are applied to characterize hardening of a [0/90]2 laminate by constructing 30 subsequent yield surfaces. Parameters to describe the center and axes of an ellipse are regressed to the yield points. The results clearly indicate that kinematic hardening dominates so that material state evolution can be described by tracking the center of the yield locus. For a nonproportional overload of (στ) = (500, 70) MPa, the center of the yield locus translated to (στ) = (430, 37) MPa and the ellipse major axis was only 110 MPa.  相似文献

We investigate the linearized response of two elastic half-spaces sliding past one another with constant Coulomb friction to small three-dimensional perturbations. Starting with the assumption that friction always opposes slip velocity, we derive a set of linearized boundary conditions relating perturbations of shear traction to slip velocity. Friction introduces an effective viscosity transverse to the direction of the original sliding, but offers no additional resistance to slip aligned with the original sliding direction. The amplitude of transverse slip depends on a nondimensional parameter η=csτ0/μv0, where τ0 is the initial shear stress, 2v0 is the initial slip velocity, μ is the shear modulus, and cs is the shear wave speed. As η→0, the transverse shear traction becomes negligible, and we find an azimuthally symmetric Rayleigh wave trapped along the interface. As η→∞, the inplane and antiplane wavesystems frictionally couple into an interface wave with a velocity that is directionally dependent, increasing from the Rayleigh speed in the direction of initial sliding up to the shear wave speed in the transverse direction. Except in these frictional limits and the specialization to two-dimensional inplane geometry, the interface waves are dissipative. In addition to forward and backward propagating interface waves, we find that for η>1, a third solution to the dispersion relation appears, corresponding to a damped standing wave mode. For large-amplitude perturbations, the interface becomes isotropically dissipative. The behavior resembles the frictionless response in the extremely strong perturbation limit, except that the waves are damped. We extend the linearized analysis by presenting analytical solutions for the transient response of the medium to both line and point sources on the interface. The resulting self-similar slip pulses consist of the interface waves and head waves, and help explain the transmission of forces across fracture surfaces. Furthermore, we suggest that the η→∞ limit describes the sliding interface behind the crack edge for shear fracture problems in which the absolute level of sliding friction is much larger than any interfacial stress changes.  相似文献

The topology of the telephone cord buckling of compressed diamond-like carbon films (DLC) on glass substrates has been characterized with atomic force microscopy (AFM) and with the focused ion beam (FIB) imaging system. The profiles of the several buckles have been measured by AFM to establish the symmetry of each repeat unit, revealing similarity with a circular buckle pinned at its center. By making parallel cuts through the buckle in small, defined locations, straight-sided buckles have been created on the identical films, enabling the residual stress in the film to be determined from the profile. It has been shown that the telephone cord topology can be effectively modeled as a series of pinned circular buckles along its length, with an unpinned circular buckle at its front. The unit segment comprises a section of a full circular buckle, pinned to the substrate at its center. The model is validated by comparing radial profiles measured for the telephone cord with those calculated for the pinned buckle, upon using the residual stress in the film, determined as above. Once validated, the model has been used to determine the energy release rate and mode mixity, G(ψ).The results for G(ψ) indicate that the telephone cord configuration is preferred when the residual stress in the DLC is large, consistent with observations that straight-sided buckles are rarely observed, and, when they occur, are generally narrower than telephone cords. Telephone cords are observed in many systems, and can be regarded as the generic morphology. Nevertheless, they exist subject to a limited set of conditions, residing within the margin between complete adherence and complete delamination, provided that the interface has a mode II toughness low enough to ensure that the buckle crack does not kink into the substrate.  相似文献

Finite element modeling of elasto-plastic contact between rough surfaces   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
This paper presents a finite element calculation of frictionless, non-adhesive, contact between a rigid plane and an elasto-plastic solid with a self-affine fractal surface. The calculations are conducted within an explicit dynamic Lagrangian framework. The elasto-plastic response of the material is described by a J2 isotropic plasticity law. Parametric studies are used to establish general relations between contact properties and key material parameters. In all cases, the contact area A rises linearly with the applied load. The rate of increase grows as the yield stress σy decreases, scaling as a power of σy over the range typical of real materials. Results for A from different plasticity laws and surface morphologies can all be described by a simple scaling formula. Plasticity produces qualitative changes in the distributions of local pressures in the contact and of the size of connected contact regions. The probability of large local pressures is decreased, while large clusters become more likely. Loading-unloading cycles are considered and the total plastic work is found to be nearly constant over a wide range of yield stresses.  相似文献

The present study aims at determining the influence of cyclic straining on the behavior of pure extruded magnesium. For this purpose, tensile, compressive and cyclic tests are performed (small plastic strains are applied (Δεp/2 = 0.1% and 0.4%). Deformation mechanisms (slip and twin systems) have been observed by TEM and the different critical resolved shear stress (CRSS) have been determined. Based on microscopic observations, a crystal-plasticity-based constitutive model has been developed. The asymmetry between tensile and compressive loadings mainly results from the activation of hard slip systems in tension (such as 〈a〉 pyramidal and prismatic and 〈c + a〉 pyramidal glides) and twinning in compression. It is shown that basal slip is very easy to activate even for small Schmid factors. Numerical simulations reveal that untwinning in tension subsequent to compression must be considered to correctly fit the experimental S-shaped hysteresis curves. TEM observations indicate also intense secondary slips or twins inside the mother twins under cyclic conditions, so that twinning in compression and dislocation glide in tension are affected by cycling. The polycrystalline model allows to predict slip activities and twin volume fraction evolutions.  相似文献

We study the boundary-value problem associated with the Oseen system in the exterior of m Lipschitz domains of an euclidean point space We show, among other things, that there are two positive constants and α depending on the Lipschitz character of Ω such that: (i) if the boundary datum a belongs to Lq(∂Ω), with q ∈ [2,+∞), then there exists a solution (u, p), with and uL(Ω) if aL(∂Ω), expressed by a simple layer potential plus a linear combination of regular explicit functions; as a consequence, u tends nontangentially to a almost everywhere on ∂Ω; (ii) if aW1-1/q,q(∂Ω), with then ∇u, pLq(Ω) and if aC0,μ(∂Ω), with μ ∈ [0, α), then also, natural estimates holds.  相似文献

Micromechanics of coalescence in ductile fracture   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Significant progress has been recently made in modelling the onset of void coalescence by internal necking in ductile materials. The aim of this paper is to develop a micro-mechanical framework for the whole coalescence regime, suitable for finite-element implementation. The model is defined by a set of constitutive equations including a closed form of the yield surface along with appropriate evolution laws for void shape and ligament size. Normality is still obeyed during coalescence. The derivation of the evolution laws is carefully guided by coalescence phenomenology inferred from micromechanical unit-cell calculations. The major implication of the model is that the stress carrying capacity of the elementary volume vanishes as a natural outcome of ligament size reduction. Moreover, the drop in the macroscopic stress accompanying coalescence can be quantified for many initial microstructures provided that the microstructure state is known at incipient coalescence. The second part of the paper addresses a more practical issue, that is the prediction of the acceleration rate δ in the Tvergaard-Needleman phenomenological approach to coalescence. For that purpose, a Gurson-like model including void shape effects is used. Results are presented and discussed in the limiting case of a non-hardening material for different initial microstructures and various stress states. Predicted values of δ are extremely sensitive to stress triaxiality and initial spacing ratio. The effect of initial porosity is significant at low triaxiality whereas the effect of initial void shape is emphasized at high triaxiality.  相似文献

We discuss the epitaxial growth of an elastic film, allowing for stress and diffusion within the film surface as well as nonequilibrium interactions between the film and the vapor. Our approach, which relies on recent ideas concerning configurational forces, is based on: (i) standard (Newtonian) balance laws for forces and moments together with an independent balance law for configurational forces; (ii) atomic balances, one for each species of mobile atoms; (iii) a mechanical version of the second law that accounts for temporal changes in free energy, energy flows due to atomic transport, and power expended by both standard and configurational forces; (iv) thermodynamically consistent constitutive relations for the film surface and for the interaction between the surface and the vapor environment. The normal component of the configurational force balance at the surface represents a generalization, to a dynamical context involving dissipation, of a condition that would arise in equilibrium by considering variations of the total free energy with respect to the configuration of the film surface. Our final results consist of partial differential equations that govern the evolution of the film surface.  相似文献

Central to this analysis is the identification of six rotation invariant scalars α1-6 that succinctly define the strain in materials that have one family of parallel fibers arranged in laminae. These scalars were chosen so as to minimize covariance amongst the response terms in the hyperelastic limit, and they are termed strain attributes because it is necessary to distinguish them from strain invariants. The Cauchy stress t is expressed as the sum of six response terms, almost all of which are mutually orthogonal for finite strain (i.e. 14 of the 15 inner products vanish). For small deformations, the response terms are entirely orthogonal (i.e. all 15 inner products vanish). A response term is the product of a response function with its associated kinematic tensor. Each response function is a scalar partial derivative of the strain energy W with respect to a strain attribute. Applications for this theory presently include myocardium (heart muscle) which is often modeled as having muscle fibers arranged in sheets. Utility for experimental identification of strain energy functions is demonstrated by showing that common tests on incompressible materials can directly determine terms in W. Since the described set of strain attributes reduces the covariance amongst response terms, this approach may enhance the speed and precision of inverse finite element methods.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with micromechanical modelling of stress-induced martensitic transformations in crystalline solids, with the focus on distinct elastic anisotropy of the phases and the associated redistribution of internal stresses. Micro-macro transition in stresses and strains is analysed for a laminated microstructure of austenite and martensite phases. Propagation of a phase transformation front is governed by a time-independent thermodynamic criterion. Plasticity-like macroscopic constitutive rate equations are derived in which the transformed volume fraction is incrementally related to the overall strain or stress. As an application, numerical simulations are performed for cubic β1 (austenite) to orthorhombic γ1′ (martensite) phase transformation in a single crystal of Cu-Al-Ni shape memory alloy. The pseudoelasticity effect in tension and compression is investigated along with the corresponding evolution of internal stresses and microstructure.  相似文献
