Estimation and tracking of the frequency-selective time-varying channel response is a challenging task for wireless communication systems incorporating coherent OFDM. In pilot-symbol-assisted (PSA) OFDM systems, the minimum mean-square-error (MMSE) estimator provides the optimum performance based on the channel statistics (channel correlation function and SNR). In OFDM systems, FFT-block timing error introduces a linear phase rotation to data modulated on individual subcarriers. An MMSE channel estimator designed only using the wireless channel statistics performs only sub-optimally when subcarrier phase rotations due to block timing errors are present. In this paper, we show that by using the block timing error statistics of the OFDM time-synchronizer the performance of the MMSE channel estimation can be significantly improved. Numerical results show that the bit-error-probability (BEP) performance degradation due to timing errors can be almost completely recovered by the proposed technique.  相似文献

准正交空时分组编码(QOSTBC)是一种正交空时编码的变换编码结构,将时间分集和空间分集相结合,具有高效的分集利用率和编码效率。QOSTBC是解决大气湍流对光通信影响的有效手段之一。在研究了大气信道特性的基础上,提出一种基于QOSTBC结构和空间分集光通信系统的信道模型;介绍了QOSTBC原理,分析了系统的信道容量和误码率(BER);利用蒙特卡罗仿真比较了采用空时分集编码与未使用分集编码系统的容量及BER的情况。结果表明,使用QOSTBC系统的信道容量随发射天线数增加而递增,误码性能得到有效改善。QOSTBC与Alamouti编码系统相比系统信噪比节省约9dB,说明该系统具有编码所提供的良好信道容量和误码性能,能够有效地抑制大气湍流对光通信所产生的光强起伏影响。  相似文献

Frequency domain equalization (FDE) has been studied for reducing inter-symbol interference (ISI) caused by frequency selective fading in single carrier systems. When a high-mobility terminal exists in the system, the channel state may change within a DFT block. Then, the ISI reduction performance of FDE degrades since cyclicity of the channel matrix is lost. We propose to divide a received data block into multiple subblocks to decrease the channel transition within the DFT block in fast fading environments. Also, to satisfy periodicity of the received signal in each subblock, we introduce a pseudo cyclic prefix technique. The results of numerical analysis show that the proposed method can effectively decrease the error floor in fast fading environments.  相似文献

Two methods for computing the probability of undetected error on the Gilbert (1960) channel are examined. First, using a method proposed by Kittel (1978), we study some standard cyclic redundancy codes and compare the results with those on the binary symmetric channel. Then we consider a general method of approximate code evaluation, proposed by Elliott, which involves P(m, n), the probability of m errors in a block of length n bits. A least-squares (LS) channel estimation (CE) technique for mobile orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) communications over a rapidly time-varying frequency-selective fading channel is investigated in this paper. The proposed technique keeping the comb-type pilot arrangement can achieve a low error probability by accurately estimating channel impulse response (CIR) and effectively tracking rapid CIR time variations. The LS CE technique proposed here is conducted in the time domain (TD). Meanwhile, a generic estimator is serially performed block by block without assistance from a priori channel information and without increasing computational complexity. By taking advantage of linearly frequency-modulated (LFM) or pseudorandom signals transceived for jointly sounding pilot subchannels, the proposed LS CE can inherently perform pseudonoise (PN) matched filtering (MF) to suppress multipath interference (MPI) caused by frequency-selective fading and intercarrier interference (ICI) resulting from data subchannels. The optimality of the proposed technique is verified by taking Cramer–Rao lower bounds (CRLBs) into comparison both on noise- and interference-dominant signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) conditions. In addition, the dual optimality of the LFM and PN pilot symbols is verified for both TD and frequency-domain (FD) CEs. Furthermore, the proposed technique also exhibits good resistance against residual timing errors occurring with the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) demodulation. Extensive computer simulations in conjunction with statistical derivations show the superiority of the proposed technique.   相似文献

在Turbo译码时对信息位和校验位都进行MAP译码,避免了传统基于译码再编码判决反馈信道估计和跟踪算法中反馈信号重构时的错误传播问题,降低了反馈信号的错误概率,提高了信道估计和跟踪的性能,解决了在信道变化较快条件下文献[8]提出的维纳LMS(WLMS)算法信噪比门限过高的问题。仿真结果表明,算法性能接近理想判决反馈时的性能限,与直接判决反馈的维纳LMS算法相比,在系统误比特率为10~(-4)条件下系统性能约提高2dB。  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a novel carrier frequency offset (CFO) tracking algorithm for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems by exploiting scattered pilot carriers and virtual carriers embedded in the existing OFDM standards. Assuming that the channel remains constant during two consecutive OFDM blocks and perfect timing, a CFO tracking algorithm is proposed using the limited number of pilot carriers in each OFDM block. Identifiability of this pilot based algorithm is fully discussed under the noise free environment, and a constellation rotation strategy is proposed to eliminate the c-ambiguity for arbitrary constellations. A weighted algorithm is then proposed by considering both scattered pilots and virtual carriers. We find that, the pilots increase the performance accuracy of the algorithm, while the virtual carriers reduce the chance of CFO outlier. Therefore, the proposed tracking algorithm is able to achieve full range CFO estimation, can be used before channel estimation, and could provide improved performance compared to existing algorithms. The asymptotic mean square error (MSE) of the proposed algorithm is derived and simulation results agree with the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

The MIMO-OFDM increases spectral efficiency without the use of channel state information (CSI). However, the bit error rate (BER) in the MIMO-OFDM model increases dramatically due to the increase in nonlinear distortion in the power amplifier (PA). In this research, a novel pre-coder integrated MIMO-OFDM technology is designed for effective BER reduction, and its performance is analyzed. The discrete wavelet-based OFDM system is one of the key ideas to present good orthogonal by emphasizing orthogonal wavelets. It helps to mitigate inter-symbol interference (ISI) and noise within the channel by extending the bandwidth (BW) compared to conventional OFDM systems. But, DWT-OFDM highly suffered due to downsampling, which degrades system efficiency. To overcome this, a redundant discrete wavelet transform (RDWT) is proposed in this article to enhance spectral efficiency. For modulation, 16-bit quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) is introduced in this work. In addition to this, a block bi-diagonalization (BBD) pre-coder technique is proposed to mitigate unwanted noise and interference in the MIMO-OFDM system. The performance measures such as ergodic sum capacity, BER, throughput, average jitter noise power, mean square error (MSE), and power consumption are analyzed using the MATLAB platform. The proposed method obtains the ergodic sum capacity of 6.25 bps/Hz, a BER of 0.021, a throughput of 95.2%, MSE of −0.47, and a power consumption of 1.15 μW. The simulative results prove the efficacy of the proposed method.  相似文献

针对非同步DS-CDMA系统提出了一种基于空时分组码的阵列处理干扰对消的技术。通过对发射信号进行空时分组编码,可以使发射信号在瑞利衰落信道中传输时信息不会畸变,并取得最大分集增益和码增益。利用空时分组码的性质有效抑制干扰的同时,大大简化了空时分组码的解码。仿真结果表明,这里提出的方法与传统的抑制干扰的方法相比具有更低的误比特率,并且有更快的解码速率。  相似文献

针对通信系统时变信道采用蒙特卡罗算法进行盲信道跟踪,并将该盲跟踪算法用于多天线信道及空时分组编码的情况,在相同的系统条件下与卡尔曼滤波跟踪算法进行了性能比较,并讨论了系统存在载波频偏情况下的跟踪性能。仿真结果表明,序贯蒙特卡罗算法可以对时变信道进行很好的跟踪。  相似文献

In this paper, the performance of decision directed (DD) maximum likelihood (ML) channel tracking algorithm is analyzed. The ML channel tracking algorithm presents efficient performance especially in the decision directed mode of the operation. In this paper, after introducing the method for analysis of DD algorithms, the performance of ML MIMO channel tracking algorithm in the DD mode of operation is analyzed. In this method channel tracking error is evaluated for a given decision error rate. Then, the decision error rate is approximated for a given channel tracking error. By solving these two derived equations jointly, both the decision error rate and the channel tracking error are computed. The presented analysis is compared with simulation results for different channel ranks, Doppler frequency shifts, and signal‐to‐noise ratios, and it is shown that the analysis is a good match for simulation results especially in high rank MIMO channels and high Doppler shifts. Robust and Improved Channel Estimation Algorithm for MIMO-OFDM Systems   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique has become a promising method for reliable high data-rate wireless transmission system in which the channel is dispersive in both time and frequency domains. Due to multiple cochannel interferences in a MIMO system, the accuracy of channel estimation is a vital factor for proper receiver design in order to realize the full potential performance of the MIMO-OFDM system. A robust and improved channel estimation algorithm is proposed in this paper for MIMO-OFDM systems based on the least squares (LS) algorithm. The proposed algorithm, called improved LS (ILS), employs the noise correlation in order to reduce the variance of the LS estimation error by estimating and suppressing the noise in signal subspace. The performance of the ILS channel estimation algorithm is robust to the number of antennas in transmit and receive sides. The new algorithm attains a significant improvement in performance in comparison with that of the regular LS estimator. Also, with respect to mean square error criterion and without using channel statistics, the ILS algorithm achieves a performance very close to that of the minimum mean square error (MMSE) estimator in terms of the parameters used in practical MIMO-OFDM systems. A modification of the ILS algorithm, called modified ILS (MILS), is proposed based on using the second order statistical parameters of channel. Analytically, it is shown that the MILS estimator achieves the exact performance of the MMSE estimator. Due to no specific data sequences being required to perform the estimation, in addition to the training mode, the proposed channel estimation algorithms can also be extended and used in the tracking mode with decision-aided method.  相似文献

A modified fully digital pseudonoise code tracking loop is proposed for direct-sequence spread-spectrum communication. By taking advantage of the inherent diversity, a modified code tracking loop is embedded into a RAKE receiver in order to avoid problems caused by unstable locked points of error signals. Such unsteadiness of locked points often occurs with a conventional code tracking loop because the error signals may be randomly biased by multipath fading. Thus, a robust pull-in capability can be provided over a time-variant fading channel where multiple propagation paths are arbitrarily correlated. Furthermore, an effective multipath interference regeneration and cancellation technique is also proposed to improve the error characteristics of the proposed technique. Analytical expressions of the error characteristics and error signals are derived and then confirmed by means of extensive computer simulation results. In addition, several simulation results for the timing jitter and the mean time to lose lock are also presented. A computer simulation technique is used to evaluate the performance of the MAP strategy for sequential block orthogonal signaling over a Gaussian channel with noiseless and delayless feedback. 数据的高速率传输以及终端的高速移动,导致无线通信信道具有时间选择性与频率选择性两个特征。该文主要研究了数据分组传输方式下,基于导频符号辅助调制(PSAM)的多输入多输出(MIMO)时间-频率双选择性信道的信道估计问题。首先,将时间-频率双选择性MIMO信道,建模为一个随时间变化的多项式内插信道模型;然后,根据信道Doppler衰落速率、多项式模型中的误差项,确定出模型的阶数以及整个数据块的长度;最后,基于该多项式内插信道模型,提出了采用PSAM的MIMO双选择性信道估计方法。实验结果表明该算法在时间-频率双选择性衰落信道下具有较好的性能。  相似文献

A novel efficient time domain threshold based sparse channel estimation technique is proposed for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The proposed method aims to realize effective channel estimation without prior knowledge of channel statistics and noise standard deviation within a comparatively wide range of sparsity. Firstly, classical least squares (LS) method is used to get an initial channel impulse response (CIR) estimate. Then, an effective threshold, estimated from the noise coefficients of the initial estimated CIR, is proposed. Finally, the obtained threshold is used to select the most significant taps. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed method achieves better performance in both BER (bit error rate) and NMSE (normalized mean square error) than the compared methods has good spectral efficiency and moderate computational complexity.  相似文献

信道估计的准确程度直接影响正交频分复用系统的性能。为了提高时变信道估计算法的精度,基于总体最小二乘准则( TLS)提出了一种时变信道的估计方法。该方法用线性模型对时变信道进行建模,不仅考虑了信道噪声,同时也兼顾了模型误差。该方法能较好地跟踪信道的变化,显著消除模型误差。仿真结果表明所提算法的均方误差介于最小二乘算法与最小均方误差算法之间,在不同归一化多普勒频移下,该算法具有较好的稳健性。  相似文献

In this paper, a new technique for the blind estimation of frequency and/or time‐selective multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) channels under space‐time block coding (STBC) transmissions is presented. The proposed method relies on a basis expansion model (BEM) of the MIMO channel, which reduces the number of parameters to be estimated, and includes many practical STBC‐based transmission scenarios, such as STBC‐orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), space‐frequency block coding (SFBC), time‐reversal STBC, and time‐varying STBC encoded systems. Inspired by the unconstrained blind maximum likelihood (UML) decoder, the proposed criterion is a subspace method that efficiently exploits all the information provided by the STBC structure, as well as by the reduced‐rank representation of the MIMO channel. The method, which is independent of the specific signal constellation, is able to blindly recover the MIMO channel within a small number of available blocks at the receiver side. In fact, for some particular cases of interest such as orthogonal STBC‐OFDM schemes, the proposed technique blindly identifies the channel using just one data block. The complexity of the proposed approach reduces to the solution of a generalized eigenvalue (GEV) problem and its computational cost is linear in the number of sub‐channels. A direct, general, and conceptually simple geometrical method for determining lower and upper bounds on the error exponent of any specific family of channel block codes is presented. It is considered that a specific family of codes is characterized by a unique distance distribution exponent. The tight linear lower bound of slope -1 on the code family error exponent represents the code family cutoff rate bound. It is always a minimum of a sum of three functions. The intrinsic asymptotic properties of channel block codes are revealed by analyzing these functions and their relationships. It is shown that the random coding technique for lower-bounding the channel error exponent is a special case of this general method. The requirements that a code family should meet in order to have a positive error exponent and at best attain the channel error exponent are stated in a clear way using the (direct) distance distribution method presented  相似文献
