To further evaluate the feasibility and applicability of the one‐pot strategy in monolithic column preparation, two novel β‐cyclodextrin‐functionalized organic polymeric monoliths were prepared using two β‐cyclodextrin derivatives, i.e. mono(6‐amino‐6‐deoxy)‐β‐cyclodextrin and heptakis(6‐amino‐6‐deoxy)‐β‐cyclodextrin. In this improved method, mono(6‐amino‐6‐deoxy)‐β‐cyclodextrin or heptakis(6‐amino‐6‐deoxy)‐β‐cyclodextrin reacted with glycidyl methacrylate to generate the corresponding functional monomers and were subsequently copolymerized with ethylene dimethacrylate. The polymerization conditions for both monoliths were carefully optimized to obtain satisfactory column performance with respect to column efficiency, reproducibility, permeability, and stability. The obtained poly(glycidyl methacrylate‐mono(6‐amino‐6‐deoxy)‐β‐cyclodextrin‐co‐ethylene dimethacrylate) and poly(glycidyl methacrylate‐heptakis(6‐amino‐6‐deoxy)‐β‐cyclodextrin‐co‐ethylene dimethacrylate) monoliths exhibited a uniform structure, good permeability, and mechanical stability as indicated by scanning electron microscopy and micro‐high‐performance liquid chromatography experimental results. Because of the probable existence of multi‐glycidyl methacrylate linking spacers on the poly(glycidyl methacrylate‐heptakis(6‐amino‐6‐deoxy)‐β‐cyclodextrin‐co‐ethylene dimethacrylate) monolith, the effect of the ratio of glycidyl methacrylate/heptakis(6‐amino‐6‐deoxy)‐β‐cyclodextrin was especially studied, and satisfactory reproducibility could still be achieved by strictly controlling the composition of the polymerization mixture. To investigate the effect of the degree of amino substitution of β‐cyclodextrin on column performance, a detailed comparison of the two monoliths was also carried out using series of analytes including small peptides and chiral acids. It was found that the β‐cyclodextrin‐functionalized monolith with mono‐glycidyl methacrylate linking spacers demonstrated better chiral separation performance than that with multi‐glycidyl methacrylate linking spacers.  相似文献

A broad variety of monolithic macroporous polymers with both controlled chemistry and porous properties was prepared using UV‐initiated free‐radical polymerization. The chemistry of the monoliths is defined by the composition of the monomer mixture used for the polymerization. The use of functional methacrylate monomers such as glycidyl methacrylate, 2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate, butyl methacrylate, 2‐acrylamido‐2‐methyl‐1‐propanesulfonic acid, and [2‐(methacryloyloxy) ethyl] trimethylammonium chloride enabled the preparation of monoliths with reactive, hydrophilic, hydrophobic, and ionizable functionalities, respectively. The porous properties of these monoliths were mainly affected by the choice of the porogenic solvent system. Because the UV polymerization was carried out at room temperature, even low molecular weight alcohols and other low boiling point solvents could safely be used to create a versatile series of binary porogenic mixtures. Monoliths were prepared in spatially defined positions using the photolithographic technique within a fused silica capillary and on microfluidic chips, and the former was demonstrated with the separation of derivatized amines by means of capillary electrochromatography in the reversed‐phase mode. Similarly, a monolith prepared in the microchip format was used to demonstrate a microextraction with enrichment of a solution of green fluorescent protein by a factor of 1000. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets were incorporated into an organic polymer monolith containing 3‐acrylamidophenylboronic acid (AAPBA) and pentaerythritol triacrylate (PETA) to form a novel monolithic stationary phase for CEC. The effects of the mass ratio of AAPBA/PETA, the amount of GO, and the volume of porogen on the morphology, permeability and pore properties of the prepared poly(AAPBA‐GO‐PETA) monoliths were investigated. A series of test compounds including amides, alkylbenzenes, polycyclic aromatics, phenols, and anilines were used to evaluate and compare the separation performances of the poly(AAPBA‐GO‐PETA) and the parent poly(AAPBA‐co‐PETA) monoliths. The results indicated that incorporation of GO into monolithic column exhibited much higher resolutions (>1.5) and column efficiency (62 000 ~ 110 000 plates/m for toluene, DMF, formamide, and thiourea) than the poly(AAPBA‐co‐PETA). The successful application in isocratic separation of peptides suggests the potential of the GO incorporated monolithic column in complex sample analysis. In addition, the reproducibility and stability of the prepared poly(AAPBA‐GO‐PETA) monolith was assessed. The run‐to‐run, column‐to‐column and batch‐to‐batch reproducibilities of this monolith for alkylbenzenes’ retention were satisfactory with the RSDs less than 1.8% (n = 5), 3.7% and 5.6% (n = 3), respectively, indicating the effectiveness and practicability of the proposed method.  相似文献

Novel porous polymer monoliths grafted with poly{oligo[(ethylene glycol) methacrylate]‐co‐glycidyl methacrylate} brushes were fabricated via two‐step atom‐transfer radical polymerization and used as a trypsin‐based reactor in a continuous flow system. This is the first time that atom‐transfer radical polymerization technique was utilized to design and construct polymer monolith bioreactor. The prepared monoliths possessed excellent permeability, providing fast mass transfer for enzymatic reaction. More importantly, surface properties, which were modulated via surface‐initiated atom‐transfer radical polymerization, were found to have a great effect on bioreactor activities based on Michaelis–Menten studies. Furthermore, three model proteins were digested by the monolith bioreactor to a larger degree within dramatically reduced time (50 s), about 900 times faster than that by free trypsin (12 h). The proposed method provided a platform to prepare porous monoliths with desired surface properties for immobilizing various enzymes.  相似文献

In this work, an open‐tubular capillary liquid‐phase column was prepared by modifying chain polymer on the inner surface of capillary and chemical bonding of metal organic frameworks, NH2‐UiO‐66, to the brushes of chain polymer (poly(glycidyl methacrylate)). Besides advantages of facial preparation and good permeability, the chain polymer effectively increases the modification amount of NH2‐UiO‐66 nanoparticles to increase the phase ratio of open‐tubular capillary column and enhance the interactions with analytes. The results of scanning electron microscope energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectra indicated that NH2‐UiO‐66 nanoparticles were successfully bonded to the chain polymer. Because of the hydrophobic interaction and hydrogen bonding interaction between the analytes and the ligand of NH2‐UiO‐66, different analytes were well separated on the NH2‐UiO‐66‐modified poly(glycidyl methacrylate) capillary (1.12 m × 25 μm id × 365 μm od) with the high absolute column efficiency reaching 121 477 plates, benefiting from an open‐tubular column and low mass transfer resistance provided by polymer brush and metal–organic framework crystal. The relative standard deviations of the retention time for run‐to‐run, day‐to‐day, and column‐to‐column (= 3) runs are below 4.28%, exhibiting good repeatability. Finally, the column was successfully applied to separation of flavonoids in licorice.  相似文献

The resistance of metal–organic frameworks towards water is a very critical issue concerning their practical use. Recently, it was shown for microporous MOFs that the water stability could be increased by introducing hydrophobic pendant groups. Here, we demonstrate a remarkable stabilisation of the mesoporous MOF Al‐MIL‐101‐NH2 by postsynthetic modification with phenyl isocyanate. In this process 86 % of the amino groups were converted into phenylurea units. As a consequence, the long‐term stability of Al‐MIL‐101‐URPh in liquid water could be extended beyond a week. In water saturated atmospheres Al‐MIL‐101‐URPh decomposed at least 12‐times slower than the unfunctionalised analogue. To study the underlying processes both materials were characterised by Ar, N2 and H2O sorption measurements, powder X‐ray diffraction, thermogravimetric and chemical analysis as well as solid‐state NMR and IR spectroscopy. Postsynthetic modification decreased the BET equivalent surface area from 3363 to 1555 m2 g?1 for Al‐MIL‐101‐URPh and reduced the mean diameters of the mesopores by 0.6 nm without degrading the structure significantly and reducing thermal stability. In spite of similar water uptake capacities, the relative humidity‐dependent uptake of Al‐MIL‐101‐URPh is slowed and occurs at higher relative humidity values. In combination with 1H‐27Al D ‐HMQC NMR spectroscopy experiments this favours a shielding mechanism of the Al clusters by the pendant phenyl groups and rules out pore blocking.  相似文献

A simple, one‐step mechanochemical procedure for immobilisation of homogeneous metathesis catalysts in metal–organic frameworks was developed. Grinding MIL‐101‐NH2(Al) with a Hoveyda–Grubbs second‐generation catalyst resulted in a heterogeneous catalyst that is active for metathesis and one of the most stable immobilised metathesis catalysts. During the mechanochemical immobilisation the MIL‐101‐NH2(Al) structure was partially converted to MIL‐53‐NH2(Al). The Hoveyda–Grubbs catalyst entrapped in MIL‐101‐NH2(Al) is responsible for the observed catalytic activity. The developed synthetic procedure was also successful for the immobilisation of a Zhan catalyst.  相似文献

A polymer monolith microextraction method coupled with high‐performance liquid chromatography was developed for the determination of adenosine triphosphate, adenosine diphosphate, and adenosine monophosphate. The monolithic column was synthesized inside fused‐silica capillaries using thermal initiation free‐radical polymerization with glycidyl methacrylate as the monomer, ethylene dimethacrylate as the cross‐linker, cyclohexanol, and 1‐dodecanol as the porogen. N‐Methylolacrylamide, an important hydrophilic monomer, was incorporated into the polymerization mixture to enhance the hydrophilicity of the poly(glycidyl methacrylate‐co‐ethylene dimethacrylate) column. The obtained poly(glycidyl methacrylate‐coN‐methylolacrylamide‐co‐ethylene dimethacrylate) monolith was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier‐transform infrared spectra, and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Optimum conditions for the preconcentration and separation of the target adenosines were also investigated. Under the optimum conditions, we obtained acceptable linearities, low limits of detection, and good relative standard deviations. The developed polymer monolith microextraction with high‐performance liquid chromatography method exhibited a good performance with recovery values in the range of 76.9?104.7% when applied to the determination of the adenosines in five royal jelly samples.  相似文献

A monolithic capillary column containing a composite of metal–organic framework MIL‐53(Al) incorporated into hexyl methacrylate‐co‐ethylene dimethacrylate was prepared to enhance the separation of mixtures of small aromatic compounds by using capillary liquid chromatography. The addition of 10 mg/mL MIL‐53(Al) microparticles increased the micropore content in the monolithic matrix and increased the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area from 26.92 to 85.12 m2/g. The presence of 1,4‐benzenedicarboxylate moieties within the structure of MIL‐53(Al) as an organic linker greatly influenced the separation of aromatic mixtures through π–π interactions. High‐resolution separation was obtained for a series of alkylbenzenes (with resolution factors in the range 0.96–1.75) in less than 8 min, with 14 710 plates/m efficiency for propylbenzene, using a binary polar mobile phase of water/acetonitrile in isocratic mode. A reversed‐phase separation mechanism was indicated by the increased retention factor and resolution as the water percentage in the mobile phase increased. A stability study on the composite column showed excellent mechanical stability under various conditions. The higher resolution and faster separation observed at increased temperature indicated an exothermic separation, whereas the negative values for the free energy change of transfer indicated a spontaneous process.  相似文献

Lauryl methacrylate‐based (LMA) monolithic columns for CEC, prepared using either thermal initiation or by UV‐irradiation in the presence of AIBN have been compared. Thermal polymerization was carried out at 70°C for 20 h. For UV initiation, the effects of the time exposure to UV light and irradiation energy were investigated. For each initiation process, the influence of composition of porogenic solvent (1,4‐butanediol/1‐propanol ratio) on the physical and electrochromatographic properties of the resulting monoliths was also evaluated. Photochemically lauryl methacrylate stationary phases initiated showed higher permeabilities and better efficiencies than those prepared by thermal initiation. After optimization of polymerization mixture, photopolymerized columns provided a permeability of 4.25×10?13 m2 and a minimum plate height of 13.4 μm for a mixture of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Similar column‐to‐column and batch‐to‐batch reproducibilities, with RSD values below 11.6 and 11.0 % for the thermal‐ and UV‐initiated columns, respectively, were obtained.  相似文献

A facile strong inorganic acid‐initiated methacrylate polymerization strategy was developed for fabricating monolithic columns at room temperature. The prepared monoliths were characterized by FTIR spectrometry, mercury intrusion porosimeter and SEM, while their performance was evaluated by CEC for the separation of various types of compounds including alkyl benzenes, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs, anilines, and nitrophenol isomers. The column‐to‐column and batch‐to‐batch reproducibility for the prepared monoliths in terms of the RSD of EOF flow velocity, retention factor, and the minimum plate height of naphthalene ranged from 3.4 to 12.4%. The fabricated monoliths gave excellent performance for the separation of the test neutral compounds with the theoretical plates of 170 000–232 000 plates per meter for thiourea, and 77 400–112 300 plates per meter for naphthalene. The proposed strong inorganic acid‐initiated methacrylate polymerization strategy is a promising alternative for fabricating organic polymer‐based monoliths.  相似文献

A chiral capillary monolithic column for enantiomer separation in capillary electrochromatography was prepared by coating cellulose tris(3,5‐dimethylphenylcarbamate) on porous glycidyl methacrylate‐co‐ethylene dimethacrylate monolith in capillary format grafted with chains of [2(methacryloyloxy)ethyl] trimethylammonium chloride. The surface modification of the monolith by the photografting of [2(methacryloyloxy)ethyl] trimethylammonium chloride monomer as well as the coating conditions of cellulose tris(3,5‐dimethylphenylcarbamate) onto the grafted monolithic scaffold were optimized to obtain a stable and reproducible chiral stationary phase for capillary electrochromatography. The effect of organic modifier (acetonitrile) in aqueous mobile phase for the enantiomer separation by capillary electrochromatography was also investigated. Several pairs of enantiomers including acidic, neutral, and basic analytes were tested and most of them were partially or completely resolved under aqueous mobile phases. The prepared monolithic chiral stationary phases exhibited a good stability, repeatability, and column‐to‐column reproducibility, with relative standard deviations below 11% in the studied electrochromatographic parameters.  相似文献

A new approach to the preparation of enantioselective porous polymer monolithic columns with incorporated chiral metal–organic framework for nano‐liquid chromatography has been developed. While no enantioseparation was achieved with monolithic poly(4‐vinylpyridine‐co‐ethylene dimethacrylate) column, excellent separations of both enantiomers of (±)‐methyl phenyl sulfoxide were achieved with its counterpart prepared after admixing metal–organic framework [Zn2(benzene dicarboxylate)(l‐lactic acid)(dmf)], which is synthesized from zinc nitrate, l ‐lactic acid, and benzene dicarboxylic acid in the polymerization mixture. These novel monolithic columns combined selectivity of the chiral framework with the excellent hydrodynamic properties of polymer monoliths, may provide a great impact on future studies in the field of chiral analysis by liquid chromatography.  相似文献

Monodisperse iron oxide nanocrystals and organic solvents were utilized as coporogens in monolithic poly(glycidyl methacrylate‐co‐ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) capillary columns to afford stationary phases with enhanced electrochromatographic performance of small molecules. While the conventional monoliths using organic solvents only as a porogen exhibited poor resolution (Rs) <1.0 and low efficiency of 40 000–60 000 plates/m, addition of a small amount of nanocrystals to the polymerization mixture provided increased resolution (Rs > 3.0) and high efficiency ranged from 60 000 to 100 000 plates/m at the same linear velocity of 0.856 mm/s. It was considered that the mesopores introduced by the nanocrystals played an important role in the improvement of the monolith performance. This new strategy expanded the application range of the hydrophobic monoliths in the separation of polar alkaloids and narcotics. The successful applications demonstrated that the glycidyl methacrylate based monoliths prepared by using nanocrystal template are a good alternative for enhanced separation efficiency of small molecules.  相似文献

A new thermally switchable molecularly imprinted monolith for the selective capture and release of proteins has been designed. First, a generic poly(glycidyl methacrylate‐co‐ethylene dimethacrylate) monolith reacted with ethylenediamine followed by functionalization with 2‐bromoisobutyryl bromide to introduce the initiator for atom transfer radical polymerization. Subsequently, a protein‐imprinted poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) layer was grafted onto the surface of the monolithic matrix by atom transfer radical polymerization. Scanning electron microscopy and energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy of the cross‐sections of imprinted monoliths confirmed the formation of dense poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) brushes on the pore surface. The imprinted monolith exhibited high specificity and selectivity toward its template protein myoglobin over competing proteins and a remarkably large maximum adsorption capacity of 1641 mg/g. Moreover, this “smart” imprinted monolith featured thermally responsive characteristics that enabled selective capture and easy release of proteins triggered only by change in temperature with water as the mobile phase and avoided use of stronger organic solvents or change in ionic strength and pH.  相似文献

Hydrophobic‐hydrophilic monolithic dual‐phase plates have been prepared by a two‐step polymerization method for two‐dimensional thin‐layer chromatography of low‐molecular‐weight compounds, namely, several dyes. The thin 200 μm poly(glycidyl methacrylate‐co‐ethylene dimethacrylate) layers attached to microscope glass plates were prepared using a UV‐initiated polymerization method within a simple glass mold. After cutting and cleaning the specific area of the layer, the reassembled mold was filled with a polymerization mixture of butyl methacrylate and ethylene dimethacrylate and subsequently irradiated with UV light. During the second polymerization process, the former layer was protected from the UV light with a UV mask. After extracting the porogens and hydrolyzing the poly(glycidyl methacrylate‐co‐ethylene dimethacrylate) area, these two‐dimensional layers were used to separate a mixture of dyes with great difference in their polarity using reversed‐phase chromatography mode within the hydrophobic layer and then hydrophilic interaction chromatography mode along the hydrophilic area. In the latter dimension only the specific spot was developed further. Detection of the separated dyes could be achieved with surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy.  相似文献

A novel construction strategy of monolithic capillary column for selectively enriching perfluorinated persistent organic pollutants was proposed. The organic–inorganic hybrid fluorous monolithic capillary column was synthesized by a “one‐pot” approach via the polycondensation of γ‐methacryloxypropyltrimethoxy‐silane, then in situ copolymerization of 1H,1H,7H‐dodecafluoroheptyl methacrylate and vinyl group on the precondensed siloxanes. The obtained monolithic columns were systematically characterized. The results demonstrated that the optimal column possessed good mechanical stability and high permeability. The adsorption capacities of the optimized monolithic column for perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctane sulfonate were 0.257 and 0.513 μg/mg, respectively. Adsorption capacities of the monoliths were proved to increasing with increasing the amounts of fluorinated monomers in the fluorous monoliths. Sodium 1‐octanesulfonate, as a comparison compound, was hardly adsorbed on the fluorous monolith. In addition, the trace amounts of perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctane sulfonate in water samples can be successfully concentrated about 160 times to their original concentrations by this monolithic column. These results demonstrated that the capacity and selectivity of the affinity fluorous column is high and can be applied to the selective enrichment for the perfluorinated persistent organic pollutants from environmental samples.  相似文献

A Cr‐based metal–organic framework, namely, MIL‐101(Cr), was modified with amino (NH2–) and urea (UR2–) groups, and the materials were evaluated as adsorbents for glyphosate, and a comparison with commercial activated carbon was also discussed. The effects of the adsorption factors, such as adsorbent concentration, adsorption time, pH and ionic strength were mainly investigated. The results showed that a pseudo‐second‐order rate equation described the adsorption kinetics mechanisms well, while the Langmuir model and the Freundlich model fitted different adsorption isotherms, respectively. Among the adsorbents we studied, NH2‐MIL‐101(Cr) showed the maximum adsorbing capacity, which is 64.25 mg/g when pH = 3.0, while UR2‐MIL‐101(Cr) did not reach the best adsorption performance due to the steric hindrance. The work opens up a new way for the modification of metal–organic frameworks for adsorption process.  相似文献

In this work, a porous structure and good permeability monolithic column was polymerized in UV transparent fused‐silica capillaries via photo‐initiated thiol‐ene click polymerization of 2,4,6,8‐tetravinyl‐2,4,6,8‐tetramethylcyclotetrasiloxane (TMTVS), pentaerythritol tetra(3‐mercaptopropionate)(PETMP), itaconic acid, respectively, in the presence of porogenic solvents (tetrahydrofuranand methanol) and an initiator (2,2‐dimethoxy‐2‐phenylacetophenone) (DMPA) within 30 min. The physical properties of this monolith were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) spectroscopy and nitrogen adsorption/desorption measurements. For an overall evaluation of the monolith in chromatographic application, separations of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), phenols, amides and bases were carried out. The column efficiency of this monolith could be as high as 112 560 N/m. It also possesses a potential application in fabrication of monoliths with high efficiency for c‐LC. In addition, the resulting monolithic column demonstrated the potential use in analysis of environment waters.  相似文献

Derivatized β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD) functionalized monolithic columns were prepared by a “one‐step” strategy using click chemistry. First, the intended derivatized β‐CD monomers were synthesized by a click reaction between propargyl methacrylate and mono‐6‐azido‐β‐CD and then sulfonation or methylation was carried out. Finally, monolithic columns were prepared through a one‐step in situ copolymerization of the derivatized β‐CD monomer and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate. The sulfated β‐CD‐based monolith was successfully applied to the hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography separation of nucleosides and small peptides, while the methylated β‐CD‐functionalized monolith was useful for the separation of nonpolar compounds and drug enantiomers in capillary reversed‐phase liquid chromatography. The structures of the monomers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. The physicochemical properties and column performance of monoliths were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy and micro high performance liquid chromatography. This strategy has considerable prospects for the preparation of other derivatized CD‐functionalized methacrylate monoliths.  相似文献
