A new organic nonlinear optical material L-phenylalanine nitric acid [2C9H11NO2.H+. NO3] (LPN), was synthesized in mixed solvent of deionised water and methanol and single crystals of LPN was grown by slow evaporation method. Transparent crystals upto 2.9 × 0.3 × 0.05 cm3 were obtained. The grown crystals have been subjected to powder X-ray diffraction studies to identify the crystalline nature. Single crystal X-ray diffractometer was utilized to measure unit cell parameters and to confirm the crystal structure. The modes of vibration of different molecular groups present in LPN were identified by FTIR spectral analysis. Transmission spectra reveals that the crystal has low UV cutoff of 295 nm and has a good transmittance in the entire visible region enabling its use in optical applications. Thermal properties of the crystals have been investigated using thermogravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analyses (DTA), which indicate that the material does not decompose before melting. The existence of second harmonic generation signals was observed using Nd:YAG laser with fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm.  相似文献

A second-order nonlinear optical coordination crystal, zinc cadmium thiocyanate, ZnCd(SCN)4 (ZCTC) was grown as a frequency doubler, emitting UV light. A large typical single crystal with dimensions up to 15×7×7 mm3 has been obtained by slow solvent-evaporation method for the first time. The infrared (IR) spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) of single crystals were performed at room temperature. The specific heat of the crystal has been measured to be 367.9 J/mol K at 300 K. The thermal expansion coefficients a- and c-oriented, have been measured to be −1.69×10−5 and 1.95×10−4 K−1, respectively. The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of ZCTC crystal is 51.6 times as high as that of urea reference, and the measured transmittance spectra from 190 to 3200 nm showed that the UV transparency cutoff occurs at 290 nm and the transmission is 73.22% at 380 nm. UV laser light of wavelength 380 nm has been achieved by the frequency doubling of a 760 nm laser diode at room temperature.  相似文献

Amino acid based crystals exhibit excellent nonlinear and electro optical properties. A new nonlinear optical single crystal l-alaninium fumarate (LAF) belonging to the amino acid group was grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique. Single crystal X-ray diffraction study showed that LAF belongs to orthorhombic crystal system. The UV-Vis-NIR spectrum of LAF showed very good transparency in the region from 300 nm to 1100 nm. Fourier transform infrared is used to confirm the presence of various functional groups in the grown crystal. Thermal properties of the LAF crystal were carried out by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) techniques, which indicate that the material does not decompose before melting. The melting point of grown crystal was observed as 267.5 °C by melting point apparatus. The existence of nonlinear optical (NLO) property of LAF was confirmed by second harmonic generation test using Nd:YAG laser fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm.  相似文献

A noncentrosymmetric crystal was prepared from 2-amino-5-nitropyridine (2A5NP) and p-Phenolsulfonic acid, which was designed for second harmonic generation. Good quality single crystals of 2-amino-5-nitropyridinium Phenolsulfonate (2A5NPP) were successfully grown by the slow evaporation method with dimensions 10 × 4 × 3 mm3. The unit cell dimensions were determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The structural perfection of the grown crystals has been analyzed by high-resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) rocking curve measurements. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectral studies have been performed to identify the functional groups. The optical transmittance window and the lower cutoff wavelength of the 2A5NPP have been identified by UV-vis-NIR studies. Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) were used to study its thermal properties. Powder test with Nd:YAG laser radiation shows a high second harmonic generation. The laser induced surface damage threshold for the grown crystal was measured using Nd:YAG laser.  相似文献

Single crystals of 2-amino-5-nitropyridinium-toluenesulfonate (2A5NPT) were grown by the slow cooling method. The unit cell dimensions were determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The thermal parameters - thermal diffusivity (α), thermal effusivity (e), thermal conductivity (K) and heat capacity (Cp) of 2A5NPT were measured by an improved photopyroelectric technique at room temperature. Single and multiple shot experiments performed on the grown crystals for the second harmonic of pulsed Nd:YAG laser (532 nm) show that it exhibits a high laser damage threshold which is a favorable property for nonlinear optical applications. Dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the grown crystal were evaluated for the frequency range 1 kHz-1 MHz in the temperature region 40-130 °C. Hardness values were measured using Vickers hardness measurement.  相似文献

An organic nonlinear optical material, l-valinium fumarate (abbreviated as LVF) has been successfully synthesized and good quality single crystals have been grown by low temperature solution growth method. The purified form of LVF is achieved by repeated crystallization. The cell parameters of LVF have been determined using single crystal X-ray diffraction technique and the crystal system is found as monoclinic. From the UV-Vis-NIR absorption spectrum, the good transparency is revealed from 300 nm to 1100 nm. The mode of vibration of different molecular groups present in LVF was identified by FT-IR spectral analysis. The thermogravimetric (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) studies show the thermal behavior and crystal was thermally stable up to 266 °C. Second harmonic generation (SHG) conversion test was made to explore the nonlinear optical behavior of this material using Kurtz and Perry method.  相似文献

Triglycine zinc chloride, a semiorganic material, has been grown by slow solvent evaporation technique from a mixture of aqueous solution of glycine and zinc chloride in 2:1 molar ratio at room temperature. The grown crystal is up to the dimension of 45 × 23 × 18 mm3. Characterization of the crystals was made using single-crystal X-ray diffraction for obtaining unit cell parameters. Powder X-ray diffraction was recorded and the major peaks were indexed. Simultaneous thermogravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis were carried out for the as grown crystals to determine the thermal stability of the crystal. The crystals were further characterized by UV-Vis-NIR transmission spectrum in the range of 200 to 1100 nm. Dielectric constant and dielectric loss measurements were carried out at different temperatures and frequencies. Mechanical studies were carried out on the as grown crystal.  相似文献

2-Aminopyridinium trichloroacetate, a novel organic optical material has been synthesized and crystals were grown from aqueous solution employing the technique of controlled evaporation. 2-Aminopyridinium trichloroacetate crystallizes in monoclinic system with space group P21/c and the lattice parameters are a = 8.598(5) Å, b = 11.336(2) Å, c = 11.023(2) Å, β = 102.83(1)° and volume = 1047.5(3) Å3. High-resolution X-ray diffraction measurements were performed to analyze the structural perfection of the grown crystals. Thermal analysis shows a sharp endothermic peak at 124 °C due to melting reaction of 2-aminopyridinium trichloroacetate. UV-vis-NIR studies reveal that 2-aminopyridinium trichloroacetate has UV cutoff wavelength at 354 nm. Dielectric studies show that dielectric constant and dielectric loss decreases with increasing frequency and finally it becomes almost a constant at higher frequencies for all temperatures. The negative nonlinear optical parameters of 2-aminopyridinium trichloroacetate were derived by the Z-scan technique.  相似文献

Reported large nonlinear optical coefficients such as d22 = 23.8d36KDP, d21 = 13.5d36KDP, d23 = 29.1d36KDP, d25 = 12.8d36KDP of 3-methoxy 4-hydroxy benzaldehyde (MHBA) attract research on its bulk crystal growth for device application. The X-ray rocking and X-ray topographic studies of Cz-grown organic monoclinic crystals invariably reveal closely aligned sub-crystals which made melt growth difficult. In this context, the single crystal growth of MHBA by Czochralski pulling technique has been successfully demonstrated for the first time in the literature. Comparison study of obtained X-ray powder diffraction data with the literature confirmed the monoclinic structure. High-resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) study confirms the better crystalline perfection of the grown crystal in comparison to that of solution-grown crystals and revealed the optimization of the growth process along [211¯] direction. TG, DTA and optical transmission studies carried out on the grown crystal exhibit its thermal and optical properties for SHG application.  相似文献

Novel organic nonlinear optical material 4-hydroxy-N-methyl 4-stilbazolium besylate has been synthesized and 7 mm × 5 mm × 3 mm size crystals were grown by slow evaporation technique. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the crystal lattice is monoclinic. From powder X-ray diffraction analysis the diffraction planes have been indexed. Fourier transform infrared spectrum for our sample confirms the presence of functional groups in the grown crystal. Second harmonic efficiency was determined using Kurtz powder method in comparison with urea to confirm the nonlinearity of the material. The results are discussed in detail.  相似文献

Potassium dihydrophosphate single crystals were grown from aqueous solutions onto a point seed using temperature reduction method by doping with different molar values of urea. The characterization of the grown crystals was made by visible and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Vicker's hardness studies, X-ray powder diffraction, non-linear optical and laser damage threshold measurements. By comparing these crystals with the ones grown from the pure solution, it is shown that 0.2-2.0 M of the urea additive enhances the laser damage threshold and the second harmonic efficiency more than by 25 and 20%, respectively. By means of the Bond method using a multipurpose three-crystal X-ray diffractometer it is shown that the presence of urea additive increases the crystal lattice parameter c of the grown crystals, whereas the lattice parameter a is by an order less sensitive to the changing urea concentration in the solution. The Vicker's hardness studies at room temperature carried out on (1 0 0) and (0 0 1) crystallographic planes show an increased hardness of the doped crystals (grown in the presence of urea additive) on the plane (0 0 1) in comparison with that of pure potassium dihydrophosphate crystal.  相似文献

l-Asparagine thiourea monohydrate (LATM) single crystal has been successfully grown (size 15 × 10 × 3 mm3) by slow evaporation solution growth technique. To the best of our knowledge this is the first report to the literature. The grown crystal was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic analysis. The UV-Vis transmittance spectrum shows that the material has wide optical transparency in the entire visible region. The relative second harmonic generation was confirmed by Kurtz powder technique. The mechanical properties have been studied using Vickers microhardness tester. The birefringence of the crystal was measured in the visible region and it was found to vary with the wavelength.  相似文献

l-alanine alaninium nitrate (LAAN), an organic nonlinear optical material was grown by slow evaporation technique at room temperature from its aqueous solution at pH value of 2.5. As grown single crystals were characterized for its spectral, thermal, linear and second order nonlinear optical properties. LAAN crystallizes in monoclinic system with space group P21 and cell parameters a = 7.846 Å, b = 5.431 Å, c = 12.806 Å and β = 94.65°. The mode of vibrations of different molecular groups present in LAAN were identified by FTIR studies. The thermal behaviour of the crystals has been investigated using thermogravimetry (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA), which indicates that the material does not decompose before melting. Transmittance spectrum reveals that the crystal has a low UV cut-off of 320 nm and has a good transmittance in the entire visible region. An organic nonlinear optical material 4-Iodo 4-nitrostilbene (IONS) has been synthesized and good optical quality single crystal was grown from ethyl methyl ketone solvent by the solution growth technique. Single and powder X-ray diffraction analyses reveals that the grown crystal belongs to monoclinic crystal system with noncentrosymmetric space group ‘P21’ and it has good crystalline nature. Functional groups and molecular structure of the title compound were confirmed by FTIR and 1H NMR respectively. The UV–Vis–NIR absorption study reveals no absorption in the visible region and the cut-off wavelength was found to be at 412.84 nm, TG/DTA, mass spectral analysis, photoluminescence and microhardness studies have been carried out for the grown crystals and results are discussed in detail. The second harmonic efficiency of the IONS was determined by Kurtz–Perry powder technique which reveals that the IONS crystal (3.1 V) has greater efficiency i.e., 143 times to that of KDP (21.7 mV).  相似文献

A novel noncentrosymmetric crystal was prepared from 1,3-dimethylurea dimethylammonium picrate, C11H18N6O8 (DMUP), which was designed for second harmonic generation. DMUP crystals exist in noncentro symmetric space group Cmc21 with unit cell dimensions a = 14.288(4) Å, b = 17.023(5) Å, c = 6.8268(13) Å, α = β = γ = 90° and volume = 1660.5(8) Å3. The crystal structure of DMUP has been determined using single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The single crystals of DMUP were successfully grown by the slow evaporation method with dimensions 10 mm × 4 mm × 3 mm using dimethylformamide as solvent. The structural perfection of the grown crystals has been analysed by High-resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) rocking curve measurements. Powder test with Neodymium-doped Yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser radiation shows a high second harmonic generation (SHG). Diglycinehydrobromide (DGHB) a semi-organic nonlinear optical material with the molecular formula C4H11N2O4+Br has been synthesized at ambient temperature. Chemical composition of the synthesized material was confirmed by CHN analysis. Functional groups present in the sample were identified by FT-IR and Raman spectral analysis. Bulk single crystals of DGHB were grown by slow evaporation method at constant temperature. Powder X-ray diffraction pattern of the grown DGHB has been indexed. Unit cell parameters of the grown DGHB crystals were determined. Thermal stability of DGHB was determined from TGA/DTA and DSC response curves. Mechanical hardness of the grown crystal DGHB was determined and Vickers hardness number was calculated. The optical transparency and the lower cutoff of UV transmission were identified from the recorded UV-vis-IR spectrum of DGHB. The Kurtz powder second harmonic generation test shows that the crystal is a potential candidate for optical second harmonic generation.  相似文献

The organic dyes (Amaranth, Rhodamine B and Methyl Orange) are doped in Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate crystals. Influences of supersaturation and dye concentration in the solution, on the color and crystal habit of Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate, were observed. Amaranth in the solution at low super saturation and high dye concentration colored the pyramidal section (1 0 1) of the crystals. The highly super saturated solutions produce entirely colored crystals. Dyes doped Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate crystals were also grown by solution growth technique. The concentration of dopants in the mother solution was varied from 0.1 to 10 mol%. The studies on pure and doped Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate crystals clearly indicate the effect of dopants on the crystal structure, in the absorption of IR frequencies and the non-linear optical property. The frequencies with their relative intensities are obtained in Fourier Transform-Infrared spectra of pure and doped Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate. The very weak bands for dopants indicate its presence in low concentration. The absence of even such a weak band in the case of Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate doped with Amaranth indicates the strong interaction with O-H groups. The calculated IR frequency 3333 cm−1 for O-H stretching was in close agreement with the experimentally obtained one for pure Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate at 3340 cm−1.The doped crystals show good second harmonic generation efficiency. The dopants increase the hardness value of the material, which also depends on the concentration of the dopants. Dye doping improves the Nonlinear Optical properties of the grown crystals. Results of the growth kinetics of Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate crystals in the presence of impurities are also discussed.  相似文献

Cuprous iodide (CuI) crystals are grown by slow evaporation technique in three different solvents. Large CuI single crystals with dimensions of 7.5 mm × 5 mm × 3 mm are obtained in pure acetonitrile solvent at 40 °C. The as-grown crystals are analyzed by X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, current-voltage characteristic and photoluminescence spectrum. The results show that the CuI crystal has the zinc-blende structure with no secondary phase. The elemental Cu/I ratio is 1.09:1. The melting point of the crystal is 875 K and two phase transitions occur from room temperature to its melting point. The electrical conductivity of CuI platelet crystal is in the range of 1.11-2.38 Ω−1 cm−1. Under ultraviolet excitation, the CuI crystals exhibit three emission bands with peak positions at 426, 529 and 671 nm. The nature of the luminescence is discussed.  相似文献

In this work we investigate the third-order optical nonlinearities in CuO films by Z-scan method using a femtosecond laser (800 nm, 50 fs, 200 Hz). Single-phase CuO thin films have been obtained using pulsed laser deposition technique. The structure properties, surface image, optical transmittance and reflectance of the films were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and UV-vis spectroscopy. The Z-scan results show that laser-deposited CuO films exhibit large nonlinear refractive coefficient, n2 = − 3.96 × 10− 17 m2/W, and nonlinear absorption coefficient, β = − 1.69 × 10− 10 m/W, respectively.  相似文献

A new potentially useful nonlinear optical organic material, 1-(5-chlorothiophen-2-yl)-3-(2,3-dimethoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one, has been synthesized and grown as a high-quality single crystal by the slow evaporation technique. The grown crystals were characterized by FT-IR, NMR, thermal analysis, and UV–visible spectroscopy. The material is thermally stabile up to 111 °C. The mechanical property of the grown crystals was studied using Vickers microhardness tester and the load dependence hardness was observed. The third order nonlinear optical properties of the material such as real and imaginary part of χ(3), nonlinear absorption coefficient and nonlinear refractive index were determined using nanosecond laser pulses at 532 nm wavelength by employing Z-scan technique. The nonlinear refractive index is found to be of the order of 10−11 cm2 W−1. The magnitude of third order susceptibility is of the order of 10−13 esu. The observed increase in the third order nonlinearity in these molecules clearly indicates the electronic origin. The compounds exhibit good optical limiting at 532 nm. The best optical limiting behavior of this molecule is due to the substituted strong electron donor.  相似文献
