Any distensible tube inflated beyond a critical pressure will experience aneurysm formation. The Anaconda wave energy device consists of a pressurised flooded tube, which when excited with an external incident wave of appropriate frequency, for the set inflation pressure, permits generation of internal bulge waves that provide the mechanism for more efficient wave energy extraction. The distensible tube must be designed to have structural integrity and to facilitate the bulge wave matching the incident wave. The bulge wave speed is governed by internal fluid density and tube distensibility. The latter is readily shown to be dependent upon volume–pressure gradient within the tube. With application of a displacement–pressure based finite element formulation the likelihood of aneurysm and its delay or avoidance can be investigated. The strain energy functions selected for use with the finite element analysis are the Yeoh and third-order Ogden model as these formulations have been previously shown by the authors to satisfy the required Maxwell equal area rule and provide the most consistent predictions when using different mixes of experimental stress-strain data. After summarising a representative set of known wave energy extraction devices, to appreciate how different Anaconda is, the paper looks at the extent and mode of deployment of an outer inextensible reinforcement to provide bulge waves of appropriate speed whilst also overcoming the onset of aneurysms within the Anaconda tube. 相似文献

在土石坝分布式光纤变形监测技术中,监测管是光纤与坝体间力-光转换的媒介,它需要适应土石坝围压大、变形量大等特点。据此,采用分段刻槽的ABS管作为光纤应变传递载体的监测管方案,建立坝料-监测管复合体的三维非线性有限元模型,并通过坝料-监测管的大型土工三轴试验验证了该数值模型的有效性。基于该数值模型,研究了监测管在最不利受力情况下的应力分布,以检验其在高围压下的适应性。结果表明,ABS管具有较高强度,可适应300m级高土石坝的高应力状态。研究成果可为土石坝的变形监测提供参考。 相似文献

The present paper deals with auto-ignition and combustion of high pressure hydrogen leaks through a tube with air into atmosphere. The experiments using a high pressure tube with hydrogen and an extension tube with air of 10 mm diameter are performed to clarify the auto-ignition and combustion behavior of high pressure hydrogen jet spouting through the extension tube. In order to improve repeatability and reliability of experiments, a plunger system with a needle is applied to control a rupture of a PET diaphragm, which separates hydrogen from air. The most important result obtained in the present study is that the minimum diaphragm burst pressure at which the auto-ignition is registered, is found to be between 1.0 and 1.2 m of the extension tube length. This tube length is longer compared to tubes used in the previous studies. Combustion and Mach disk at the extension tube exit to atmosphere are observed using a high speed camera which is set at the frame speed of 1 × 105 fps when the ignited hydrogen jet is spouted out the tube. 相似文献

A new heat transfer enhanced tube—the inside and outside spirally triangle finned tube with small spiral angles (IOSTF tube)—was developed and manufactured for improving the performance of high‐pressure preheaters. The triangle flutes with small spiral angle on the outside surface of the IOSTF tube perform like the vertically fluted tube, and the triangle flutes with small spiral angle on the inside surface of the IOSTF tube perform like the spirally fluted tube. The experiments show that the total heat transfer coefficient of the vertical IOSTF tube is 63–95 per cent larger than that of the smooth tube with only a slight increase in the inside flowing friction and the field results show that a 43 per cent increase in the total heat transfer coefficient of the high‐pressure preheater with the IOSTF tubes can be obtained. Twisted oval tube heat exchanger is a type of heat exchanger that aims at improving the heat transfer coefficient of the tube side and also decreasing the pressure drop of the shell side. In the present work, tube side and shell side heat transfer and pressure drop performances of a twisted oval tube heat exchanger has been experimentally studied. The tube side study shows that the tube side heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop in a twisted oval tube are both higher than in a smooth round tube. The shell side study shows that the lower the modified Froude number FrM, the higher the shell side heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop. In order to comparatively analyze its shell side performance of the heat exchanger, a rod baffle heat exchanger with similar size of the twisted oval tube heat exchanger is designed and its performance is calculated with Gentry's method. The comparative study shows that the heat transfer coefficient of the twisted oval tube heat exchanger is higher and the pressure drop is lower than the rod baffle heat exchanger. In order to evaluate the overall performance of the twisted oval tube heat exchanger, a performance evaluation criterion considering both the tube side and shell side performance of a heat exchanger is proposed and applied. The analyze of the overall performance of the twisted oval tube shows that the twisted oval tube heat exchangers works more effective at low tube side flow rate and high shell side flow rate. 相似文献
