Detailed heat capacity measurements of the ternary compounds ErRh4B4 and LuRh4B4 have been performed between 0.5 and 36 K and in magnetic fields up to 4 kG, yielding new information on crystal field effects in these materials and on the influence of externally applied magnetic fields on the coupled superconducting-ferromagnetic reentrant transition in ErRh4B4. Static magnetic susceptibility data on LuRh4B4 are presented which allow qualitative conclusions to be drawn regarding the magnitude of exchange enhancement and orbital paramagnetic effects in the RERh4B4 compounds. The electrical resistivity of ErRh4B4 has also been determined between 4 K and room temperature.This research was supported by the Department of Energy under Contract Number Ey-76-S-03-0034-PA227-3 (LDW, HBM, RWM, MBM) and by the National Science Foundation under Grant Number NSF/DMR77-08469 (DCJ). The specific heat and magnetic properties of GaMo4X8 (X=S, Se, SeTe) between 1.4 and 290 K are reported. Our measurements tend to demonstrate that these compounds have a very high density of states, leading to a Stoner magnetic instability of conduction electrons at low temperatures. The linear temperature-dependent term in the specific heat is enhanced by electron-phonon coupling and spin fluctuation effects. These compounds could indicate an electron-phonon contribution to the Stoner enhancement factor.  相似文献

Dielectric constant, dielectric loss and conductivity of Bi4(GeO4)3 and Bi4(SiO4)3 single crystals have been measured as a function of frequency and in the temperature range from liquid nitrogen temperature to 400° C. The values of the static dielectric constant at room temperature are 16·4 and 13·7 for Bi4(GeO4)3 and Bi4(SiO4)3 respectively. The plots of log (σ) against reciprocal temperature at different frequencies of these crystals merge into a straight line beyond 250°C and the activation energies calculated in this region are found to be 0·95 eV and 1·2 eV for Bi4(GeO4)3 and Bi4(SiO4)3 respectively.  相似文献

Phase stability and chemical bonding of beta-NaBH4 and beta-KBH4 derived nano-structures and possible low energy surfaces of them from thin film geometry have been investigated using ab initio projected augmented plane wave method. Structural optimizations based on total energy calculations predicted that, for beta-NaBH4 and beta-KBH4 phases, the (011) and (101) surfaces are more stable among the possible low energy surfaces. The predicted critical size of the nano-cluster for beta-NaBH4 and beta-KBH4 is 1.35 and 1.8 nm, respectively. The corresponding critical diameter for the nano-whisker is 2.6 and 2.8 nm respectively for beta-NaBH4 and beta-KBH4. Structural optimization based on total energy calculations show that the bond distances in the surfaces of nano-whisker are found to be higher than that in the bulk material and the calculated H site energies and bond overlap population analysis suggesting that it is considerably easier to remove hydrogen from the surface of the clusters and nano-whiskers than that from the bulk crystals.  相似文献

The low-temperature magnetic properties of HoRh4B4 have been studied by means of measurements of the magnetic susceptibility, magnetization, specific heat, thermal expansion, and magnetostriction. The ferromagnetic phase transition at T M= 6.7 K shows almost ideal S = 1/2 mean field behavior in the specific heat. Crystal field effects due to the splitting of the J = 8 Hund's rule ground state of the Ho3+ ions result in Schottky anomalies in the specific heat and the thermal expansion and are also revealed in the low-field magnetic susceptibility and the magnetostriction. Detailed measurements of the magnetization of HoRh4B4 and GdRh4B4 near the magnetic transition temperature are presented. In contrast to the ferromagnetic behavior of GdRh4B4, no spontaneous magnetization is found to develop below T min HoRh4B4. This raises doubts about the nature of the magnetic order in that material as well as in DyRh4B4 and TbRh4B4. Anisotropy and time dependence of the magnetization are found in these last three compounds. The behavior of the very small remanent magnetization and of the paramagnetic susceptibility of HoRh4B4 is shown. The magnetic ordering temperatures of the primitive tetragonal rare earth (RE) rhodium boride compounds exhibit a peak at DyRh4B4, rather than GdRh4B4 as predicted from ordering via the indirect RKKY exchange interaction. This deviation is analyzed in terms of the depression of the superconducting transition temperature of LuRh4B4 by dilute amounts of RE impurity ions and the magnetic heat capacities of the RERh4B4 compounds for RE = Gd, Tb, Dy, and Ho. The strength of anisotropic crystalline electric field forces, as inferred from magnetic entropy considerations, may be the origin of the anomalous magnetic ordering temperatures. In addition, the depression of the superconducting transition temperatures of ErRh4B4 and TmRh4B4 from that of LuRh4B4 is shown to arise primarily from elastic exchange scattering of the conduction electrons by the magnetic RE ions.This research was supported by the U.S. Department of Energy under Contract EY-76-S-03-0034-PA227-3 (HBM, LDW, MBM) and by the National Science Foundation under Grant NSF/DMR77-08469 (DCJ).  相似文献

In this study, various lanthanide and mixed lanthanide oxides (Ln2O3 with Ln = La, Lu, Lu0.5Gd0.5) powders have been synthesized by a coprecipitation method. The luminescence properties and/or the quenching mechanisms of different dopants (europium, cerium, praseodymium) have been studied. Luminescence mechanisms of Ce:Ln2O3 and Pr:Ln2O3, are closely related to the 5d and 4f energy levels positions of the dopant versus materials bandgap and crossing effect between dopant energy levels. Energy level positions have been analyzed through optical spectroscopy and their effect on the luminescence is presented. Eu:Lu2O3 and Eu:LuGdO3 have also been prepared as transparent ceramics and radioluminescence properties are presented.  相似文献

Der Beitrag berichtet über zentrische und exzentrische Schubversuche an Mauerwerk aus Wärmedämmziegeln. Die Ergebnisse werden mit den aktuell gültigen Bemessungsansätzen in DIN 1053‐1 verglichen. Es wird gezeigt, dass die Versuchsergebnisse immer eine ausreichende Sicherheit gegenüber den Bemessungswerten nach DIN 1053‐1 aufweisen. Auch für Mauerwerk aus Wärmedämmziegeln mit allgemeiner bauaufsichtlicher Zulassung können somit die vereinfachten Bemessungsregeln der DIN 4149 ohne Abminderungen angewendet werden. In plane shear resistance of thermal insulating vertically perforated clay brick masonry. In plane shear tests on thermal insulating vertically perforated clay brick masonry are presented. The results are compared with the design rules from DIN 1053‐1. The test results exceeded the design predictions of DIN 1053‐1 by a significant safety margin. The simplified design rules from the German earthquake standard DIN 4149 can be applied to thermal insulating clay unit masonry with technical approvals without any reduction.  相似文献

采用柠檬酸盐溶胶-凝胶法制备了低温相α-LiZnPO4和以LiZnPO4为基质稀土磷酸盐(LnPO4)掺杂的(LiZnPO4)1-x-(LnPO4)x(Ln3+=Nd3+、Sm3+、Er3+、X=0.1;Ln3+=La3+,X=0.1、0.2、0.4、0.6)的超细粉体并对它们进行DTA、TG和XRD的表征.讨论了室温下不同比例、不同稀土磷酸盐的掺杂对基质LiZnPO4离子导电率的影响.测试结果表明,LiZnPO4-LnPO4体系是由α-LiZnPO4和LnPO4两相组成;由于α-LiZnPO4烧结体的相对密度(d=58)极小,室温下样品几乎不显示导电性,而适量的非导电相LnPO4的掺入有助于提高烧结体的相对密度,增大体系的晶界电导率.  相似文献

The thermal conductivity attributable to the interaction of phonons with rotational motions of molecules is calculated for solid CH4 and CD4 in phase I (T > 20.4 K for CH4 and T > 27.1 K for CD4) in the single-mode relaxation-time approximation. The main feature of the thermal resistivity can be accounted for by one-phonon processes, where the scattering of phonons due to the thermal fluctuation of molecular rotation plays an important role. The effect of two-phonon processes becomes nonnegligible with an increase in temperature and especially for CD4. Our calculation taking the interaction up to two-phonon processes gives nearly the same result as experiment.Supported in part by a grant from the Scientific Research Foundation of the Ministry of Education. Plasma surface modification of wood and wood‐based materials In this article, plasma technical, analytical and application relevant aspects of the plasma treatment of wood and wood‐based materials are presented. With the help of surface energy determinations and adhesion tests it is shown that the surfaces of wood and wood‐based materials can be changed for specific applications. Surface characteristics, which are application‐technological interesting for a later coating or adhesion, can be specifically generated with the use of air plasma. With surface energy determinations of wood and wood‐based materials, a significantly increased polar part of surface energy could be detected after a plasma treatment. Atomic force microscopy analyses of wood composites show that a plasma treatment with the use of ambient air effects an abrasion and a changed surface roughness. Tensile tests and shear tests of coated or adhered wood‐based materials with a plasma treatment show a clearly increased adherence.  相似文献

We have measured the thermal expansion and the temperature dependence of z and y components of the refractive index for KTiOPO4 and KTiOAsO4, in the wavelength range 532-1585 nm and temperature range 25-200 degrees C, using an interferometric technique. The measurements were used to derive temperature-dependent Sellmeier equations for the two materials. These equations predict with good agreement the temperature dependence of quasi-phase-matched nonlinear frequency converters.  相似文献
