The approaches being used to make electric vehicles (EVs) highly efficient given the limitations of EV batteries are described. A new kind of induction motor with compound cage rotor (IMCCR) is proposed in this paper, in which rotor bars are composed of upper parts made of alloy (conductor for electric and magnetic) and lower parts made of cast aluminum. Calculation models for IMCCR electromagnetic field and whole region (including stator and rotor) temperature field analyses are established. From a motor electromagnetic analysis using the finite-element method, loss distributions are obtained, which are taken as the heat source in thermal analysis. In this paper, the starting and thermal performances of IMCCR operating under rated load are studied. From the comparison of the obtained results with test data, it can be seen that IMCCR would be a better choice for the driving system in electrical vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid EVs (PHEVs). Furthermore, the influences of compound bar material on motor temperature distribution are analyzed, which would be helpful for the research on electrical materials used in machines. Considering the working conditions of motor used in PHEV and EV, the effects of ambient temperature and output load on motor thermal performance also have been studied.   相似文献

Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) use multiple sources of power for propulsion which provides great ease and flexibility to achieve advanced controllability and additional driving performance. In this paper, the electric motor in HEV and electric vehicle (EV) propulsion systems is used to achieve antilock braking performance without a conventional antilock braking system (ABS). The paper illustrates that the antilock braking of HEV can be easily achieved using iterative learning control for various road conditions. A vehicle model, a slip ratio model, and a vehicle speed observer were developed to control the antilock performance of HEV during braking. Through iterative learning process, the motor torque is optimized to keep the tire slip ratio corresponding to the peak traction coefficient during braking. Simulations were performed on a compact size vehicle to validate the proposed control method. The control algorithm proposed in this paper may also be used for the ABS control of conventional vehicles.  相似文献

This paper proposes a strategy to minimize the losses of an induction motor propelling an electric vehicle (EV). The proposed control strategy, which is based on a direct flux and torque control scheme, utilizes the stator flux as a control variable, and the flux level is selected in accordance with the torque demand of the EV to achieve the efficiency-optimized drive performance. Moreover, among EV's motor electric propulsion features, the energy efficiency is a basic characteristic that is influenced by vehicle dynamics and system architecture. For this reason, the EV dynamics are taken into account. Assuring the right temperature in battery compartments of an electric or hybrid vehicle is crucial for the safe operation and the achievement of optimal performance of the batteries. This paper is about the design, fabrication, and testing of a novel system for thermal management for electric/hybrid vehicles. This system is based on Peltier-effect heat pumps. In hybrid electrical vehicles (HEV) and electric vehicles (EV) power semiconductors, packaged in a module, are used. Packaging technologies are suffering several wear out mechanisms, that are typically induced by thermal or power cycling. The type of wear out mechanism is affected by the connection technology but also by the load type. In the design of the inverter the mission profile simulation of the power module is an important step to ensure operation of the power module over the complete vehicle lifetime. Influences of application parameters are presented. Physics of failure based FEM simulation can help to develop appropriate lifetime models which are basis for the mission profile simulation. Available power module technology achieves the lifetime requirement for hybrid electric vehicles/electric vehicles, if the described method is applied in the design phase of the inverter.  相似文献
