In this paper, a new active device, current differencing cascaded transconductance amplifier (CDCTA), has been presented. The proposed CDCTA simplifies the design of the current-mode filter circuit considerably, especially the design of high-order filter. Moreover, a current-mode nth-order filter based on the CDCTA is proposed in the paper. The proposed circuit, which adopts only an active component and n grounded capacitors, contains minimal active component and passive one. It enjoys the simple configuration and is suitable for integrated circuit (IC) fabrication. PSpice simulations for current-mode third-order filter based on this structure have also been conducted, and the results are in good agreement with the theoretical analysis. The influences of the CDCTA non-idealities are also discussed. 相似文献

The issues involved in the design of power factor correction circuit input filters are significantly different from those involved in the design of input filters for DC-DC power converters. In many cases, the EMI and power factor requirements are impossible to meet using the existing filtering technology. This paper proposes the use of high-order elliptic filters to achieve the required EMI attenuation and power factor. The new input filter technology provides a significant filter size reduction over the standard filter designs, minimizes the filter-power converter interaction, and maintains a good converter power factor. New active and passive filter damping methods that guarantee optimal filter pole damping, while virtually eliminating damping resistor power dissipation, are proposed. The filter design procedure that makes possible a simple and fast design of filters with an arbitrary number of stages is also presented 相似文献

Transimpedance filter is a filter which realises a transimpedance transfer function. In this article, the design methods for the transimpedance band-pass filter are presented. The circuit topologies and parameter calculation formulas of three bi-quadratic transimpedance band-pass filter topologies with low-, medium- and high-Q values are proposed, respectively. A high-order transimpedance filter can be obtained by realising a bi-quadratic transimpedance filter first and then cascaded with voltage-mode bi-quads. A high-order transimpedance filter design example is given; the simulation and the measured results verify the effectiveness of the proposed transimpedance filter design method. 相似文献

In this research article, a new third-order voltage-mode active-C asymmetrical band pass filter is proposed. It uses three numbers of current-controlled current conveyors and three numbers of equal-valued capacitors. The topology has the following important features: uses only three active elements, uses three capacitors, uses all grounded capacitors and no resistor is suitable for integrated circuit design, there is no matching constraint, high input impedance, low output impedance, central frequency can easily be electronically controlled by bias current, and frequency response is asymmetrical in nature. The application of the proposed topology in the realisation of a voltage-mode sixth-order symmetrical band pass filter has been demonstrated. The workability of the proposed topology and sixth-order filter has been confirmed by simulation results using 0.35-µm Austria Micro Systems complementary metal oxide semiconductor technology. 相似文献

Log-domain wave filters that simulate the passive LC ladder prototype filters are introduced in this paper. The proposed circuits are constructed from the wave equivalents of the reactive elements corresponding to those in the prototype circuit. The wave equivalent circuits are obtained by using a novel log-domain wave port terminator. The wave equivalent of a capacitor in a shunt branch was chosen as an elementary building block for creating high-order filters. The wave equivalent circuits of all other reactive elements in a shunt or in a series-branch connection can be readily obtained using the elementary building block plus some inverters. This way the derived high-order filter configurations are modular. A design example of a third-order elliptic low-pass filter is given, and the performance of the filter was verified by simulation. 相似文献

The design and experimental characterization of a passive RF (4-225 MHz) filter pertinent to industrial and military aviation environments is presented. The filter utilizes three different low-pass stages and a simple DC discriminating circuit. A detailed theoretical analysis (lumped parameter modeling) of the filter's frequency response is provided. The problem of solving the optimal (minimum-noise) error feedback coefficients for recursive digital filters is addressed in the general high-order case. It is shown that when minimum noise variance at the filter output is required, the optimization problem leads to set of familiar Wiener-Hopf or Yule-Walker equations, demonstrating that the optimal error feedback can be interpreted as a special case of Wiener filtering. As an alternative to the optimal solution, the formulas for suboptimal error feedback with symmetric or antisymmetric coefficients are derived. In addition, the design of error feedback using power-of-two coefficients is discussed. The efficiency of high order error feedback is examined by test implementations of the set of standard filters. It is concluded that error feedback is a very powerful and versatile method for cutting down the quantization noise in any classical infinite impulse response (IIR) filter implemented as a cascade of second-order direct form sections. Bucket-brigade devices have been used to build a new type of active filter that is equivalent to a second-order digital filter without the need for complex analog-to-digital conversion. The filter response characteristics, i.e., center frequency and bandwidth, depend on the circuit parameters of gain and clock frequency, both of which may be electronically controlled. By using a variable clock signal, 1023 frequencies can be accurately selected by the proper setting of ten switches. The selected clock frequency uniquely determines the center frequency of the bucket-brigade filter. The programmable feature of the clock circuit, therefore, allows the convenient selection of the center frequency of the bandpass filter. A slight modification to the programmable bandpass filter converts it into a programmable oscillator. Thus, any one of 1023 tones can be generated by the proper setting of the switches. A device that exhibits both filter and oscillator functions has been demonstrated in the laboratory. 相似文献

A simple microstrip oscillator circuit has been designed and operated satisfactorily with high-power high-efficiency avalanche diodes. The power output obtained from a single diode chip is ahout 100 watts at 1 GHz with efficiencies of 25 to 30 percent. Mechanical tuning capability of a few hundred megahertz and a combined power output from series-connected diodes have been demonstrated using the circuit. An essential part of the circuit is a low-pass filter tuning section which enables the circuit to support high-order harmonics including the transit-time frequency and prevents them from getting to the load. A new CFOA-based lossy/loss-less floating inductance circuit is introduced which, in contrast to previously known configuration requiring three to four CFOAs, employs only two CFOAs along with only five passive components. This paper presents a new CMOS high-order Gm-C universal filter which can realize multi-mode (current, voltage, trans-resistance and trans-conductance) filtering functions, using grounded capacitors to absorbing shunt parasitic capacitances and a reduced number of active elements which leads to the minimum chip size and power consumption. Furthermore, in current-mode implementation, the proposed circuit produces simultaneously multiple filtering functions while uses just one configuration of inputs. Also, as the result of sensitivity analysis shows, the new filter structure has a very low sensitivity to the values of capacitors and trans-conductance elements. However, the proposed Gm-C filter is designed and simulated in HSPICE using 0.18 μm CMOS technology parameters and HSPICE simulation results have very close agreement with theoretical results obtained from MATLAB which justifies the design accuracy and low-power, multi-mode, multi-output universal filtering performance of the proposed circuit. 相似文献

A new current-tunable 2nd-order active filter is described which is based on the variation of the transconductance of a bipolar transistor with bias current. The circuit can give a lowpass or bandpass 2nd-order response or can be cascaded to give a high-order all-pole tunable filter.
