The surface tension of a 62ZrF4.33BaF2.5LaF3 (mol%) glass was measured by a solidified pendant drop technique. The surface tension at 550°C is 0.174 ± 0.005 J/m2.  相似文献

The molecular dynamics computer simulation technique was used to determine the short-time dynamics behavior and resultant structures of ions at the surface of Li20·3SiO2 and Na2O-3SiO2 glasses. Room temperature and elevated temperatures were used. Results are compared with similar studies of the K2O·3SiO2 glass surface and with recent experimental ion-scattering-spectroscopy data. The simulations indicate that a localized surface rearrangement occurs within picoseconds after formation of the free surface, creating a surface excess of alkali in the Na (and K) case, but not in the Li case. Elevated temperatures, even for brief times, enhance the observed surface excess of Na and K. The results correspond to those obtained from the ion-scattering-spectroscopy studies.  相似文献

Ceria (CeO2)-doped alumina (Al2O3) composite nano-particles were synthesized using sucrose as a chelating agent and template material. As-synthesized powders were characterized using X-ray diffraction technique for their phase analysis, BET surface area analyzer for specific average surface area, and transmission electron microscope for particle size and morphology. Both CeO2 and Al2O3 delayed the amorphous to crystalline phase transformation for each other. These composite nano-powders had particle size in the range of 20–50 nm with an aspect ratio of 1.5 with platelet morphology and surface area between 100 and 300 m2/g. Synthesis parameters were optimized varying the sucrose to metal ion ratio, calcinations time and temperature. This method can be applied to synthesize various monolithic and mixed metal oxide based ceramic nano-particles.  相似文献

Residual surface stresses introduced into polycrystalline Al2O3 during diamond grinding (320 grit) were examined by an X-ray direction technique commonly used for metals. Compressive stresses, estimated to be in the range 135 to 170 MPa and to extend 15 μm deep, were observed at the surface. It is believed that the compressive surface layer coincides with the plastic layer produced by the elastie/plastic interaction of the abrasive grains with the ceramic. The results are discussed with regard to the effect of the compressive layer on the extension of surface cracks.  相似文献

A combination technique of Nd:YAG laser (wavelength: 1064 nm) irradiations and chemical etchings was applied to fabricate microsize U-shaped grooves on the surface of CuO-doped BaO–TiO2–GeO2 glass, and chemical etching behaviors were examined by using a confocal scanning laser microscope. Continuous-wave Nd:YAG lasers with a power of 0.7–0.8 W were irradiated onto the glass surface and scanned at a speed of 10 μm/s, inducing structural modified lines with refractive index changes. The chemical etching rates for the refractive index changed lines in a nitric acid solution (1 N HNO3) were larger than those for the base glass (nonirradiated part). The etching profile was changed gradually from W-shaped to U-shaped grooves with increasing etching time. The sharp bending lines with an angle of 150° and the cross-linked lines were also smoothly etched. The U-shaped grooves with a surface covered by nonlinear optical Ba2TiGe2O8 crystals were formed by the crystallization of etched samples. This study proposes that the patterning of microchannels with optical functional surfaces is possible on the glass surface using the present technique.  相似文献

The influence of CaCO3 on the hydration of 3CaO Al2O3 containing about 90% C3A is studied with compacts of their mixtures proportioned to 0, 2.5, 10, 20, and 50 wt% CaCO3. The compacts are exposed to H2O in liquid and in vapor phase, the attendant expansion being measured as a function of time. Differential thermal analysis, infrared absorption, and X–ray diffraction are used in conjunction with this technique. It is shown that the hydration reaction of 3 CaO · Al2O3 is suppressed by CaCO3 additions and that this is due primarily to the formation of the low form of calcium carboaluminate on the surface of the C3A grains. Expansion measurements of the compacts during the reactions show that this technique indicates the progress of hydration and detects the formation of the carboaluminate at an early stage of the reaction. Using the same technique, a study at 50% relative humidity provides the basis for the conclusion that C3A reacts with CaCO3 under these conditions by a direct mechanism.  相似文献

Nowadays, much attention is paid for the development of lead-free complex or mixed metal oxides, which can be utilized for multi-functional devices. This communication provides the information on synthesis (by mixed oxide route) and physical properties (structural, electrical and ferroelectric) of the polycrystalline sample of Bi(Fe0.9La0.1)O3 Analysis of the phase formation and basic crystal data of the material using X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique shows an orthorhombic symmetry with well-defined cell parameters. It has been shown that a small amount (10%) of La substitution at the Fe site of BiFeO3 suppresses the impurity phase usually observed during phase formation of BiFeO3. The average crystallite size, calculated through applying Scherrer's technique, was found to be 68?nm. For the study of surface morphology (grain size and distribution) of the compound, the scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used. The grains of different dimension were found homogeneously distributed at the entire surface of the sample. The La substitution strongly affects the capacitive (dielectric) and resistive (electrical) characteristics of bismuth ferrite in a wide range of frequency and temperature. The contributions of grains and grain boundaries in the capacitive as well as in the resistive properties of the material at different temperatures and frequencies were studied by means of the impedance spectroscopy technique. This study has provided numerous useful and interesting data which may find potential industrial applications.  相似文献

A thermal etching technique is developed to reveal dislocations in MgO · nAl2O3 (n=2.9) single crystals decorated by Al2O3 precipitation. Large plastic deformation leads to a larger density of thermal etch pits. Also, dense arrays of pits, parallel to the traces of slip planes with a surface, are observed around a Vickers identation. The cracks developed by an indentation run selectively along the 〈100〉 directions and accompany dislocations arrayed in the possible slip planes.  相似文献

The strength and fracture of a directionally solidified Y3Al5O12/Al2O3 eutectic fiber were investigated. The fiber was grown continuously by an edge-defined film-fed growth technique. The microstructure was characterized using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive spectroscopy. The tensile strength and Weibull's modulus of the eutectic fibers were determined in the as-fabricated state and after extended thermal exposure at 1460°C in air. Fractographic analysis was used to identify and classify the strength-limiting mechanisms. The fracture toughness and crack growth behavior were characterized by an indentation technique. A fracture mechanics analysis was also used to establish the relationships between surface flaw size, tensile strength, and fracture toughness of the fiber.  相似文献

An X-radiographic technique was developed to obtain profiles of molten ceramic menisci and pendant drops sealed in molybdenum or tungsten capsules. The surface tension for Al2O3 was calculated from the shape of the drops or menisci. Molybdenum capsules lowered the surface tension value. The density was 3.01 g/cm8 at the melting point.  相似文献

以钛酸四丁酯为原料,以空心玻璃微珠为载体,采用溶胶-凝胶法制备出TiO2/beads光催化剂,用浸渍法制备出CoPcS/TiO2/beads光催化剂。研究了TiO2/beads及CoPcS/TiO2/beads光催化降解水面漂浮植物油的最优条件。结果表明,酸性或中性条件下,375 W中压汞灯照射2~3 h,TiO2/beads与CoPcS/TiO2/beads的投加量分别为3 g与1 g时,植物油的去除率达90%以上,投加微量的H2O2,可大大提高两者的光催化去除率。  相似文献

Reforming of methane with carbon dioxide into syngas over Ni/γ-Al2O3 catalysts modified by potassium, MnO and CeO2 was studied. The catalysts were prepared by impregnation technique and were characterized by N2 adsorption/desorption isotherm, BET surface area, pore volume, and BJH pore size distribution measurements, and by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The performance of these catalysts was evaluated by conducting the reforming reaction in a fixed bed reactor. The coke content of the catalysts was determined by oxidation conducted in a thermo-gravimetric analyzer. Incorporation of potassium and CeO2 (or MnO) onto the catalyst significantly reduced the coke formation without significantly affecting the methane conversion and hydrogen yield. The stability and the lower amount of coking on promoted catalysts were attributed to partial coverage of the surface of nickel by patches of promoters and to their increased CO2 adsorption, forming a surface reactive carbonate species. Addition of CeO2 or MnO reduced the particle size of nickel, thus increasing Ni dispersion. For Ni–K/CeO2–Al2O3 catalysts, the improved stability was further attributed to the oxidative properties of CeO2. Results of the investigation suggest that stable Ni/Al2O3 catalysts for the carbon dioxide reforming of methane can be prepared by addition of both potassium and CeO2 (or MnO) as promoters.  相似文献

Oxygen self-diffusion coefficients were determined for two Al2O3 single crystals by the isotope-exchange technique, using chemically polished and Ar -ion-milled samples. Results represented by D=562 exp[–665(kJ/mol)/RT] cm2/s are lower than those for diamond-paste-finished samples and near Reed and Wuensch's results. The oxygen diffusion coefficient determined using crushed particles and the microscopically measured ratio of surface area to volume agreed with these values  相似文献

YBa2Cu3O7−x was doped with various metal ions by a new technique in which a pellet (after binder burnout) was soaked in a solution containing the appropriate ions and then dried. The sintered density of the treated pellets depended on the dopant in the solution, and in many cases it was much higher than that obtained for pure YBa2Cu3O7−x (93% to 96% as compared with 85% to 90%). A study of the microstructure revealed that, in those cases where higher sintered densities were obtained, the grain size was much smaller. The grain morphology, however, did not change. It is likely that the high concentration of dopant adsorbed on the grain surface during solution soaking enhanced the rate of sintering.  相似文献

Strontium titanate (SrTiO3) filled polytetrafluroethylene (PTFE) substrates were fabricated through sigma mixing (SM), extrusion (E), calendering (C) followed by hotpressing (H) (SMECH) process. The filler dispersion in the polymer matrix and the surface morphology were studied using scanning electron microscopic (SEM) technique. The permittivity (ɛ'r) and loss tangent (tan δ) of the composites were measured using precision impedance and vector network analyzers. The experimental permittivity of filled composites was compared with theoretically predicted values. Dimensionally stable substrate having a permittivity of 13.1 and a loss tangent of 0.0055 at X-band was prepared in the PTFE/SrTiO3 composite system.  相似文献

A novel, one-pot technique of synthesizing calcium phosphate whiskers was developed. Commercially available β-tricalcium phosphate (β-Ca3(PO4)2) powders were aged in unstirred 30% H2O2 solutions at 90°C for 48 h in ordinary glass media bottles. Resultant samples consisted of whiskers (200 nm wide and 5 μm-long) of a biphasic mixture of octacalcium phosphate (OCP: Ca8H2(PO4)6·5H2O) and carbonated apatitic (apatite-like) calcium phosphate (Ap-CaP). As-formed whiskers possessed a Ca/P molar ratio of 1.46 and a BET surface area of 8 m2/g. Upon soaking these whiskers in a Tris-HCl-buffered SBF solution of 27 mM HCO3 for 6 days, Ca/P molar ratio and surface area values were increased to 1.60 and 52 m2/g, respectively. The technique, owing to its simplicity, may prove useful in providing large amounts of biocompatible short whiskers for numerous technology sectors.  相似文献

Chitosan (CS) is a promising candidate for green anticorrosive coating owing to its film forming nature, complexation with metals, biocompatibility, and varied surface functionalization. This paper illustrates the surface properties of chitosan film which is modified by grafting with stearic acid via a water-soluble coupling agent, 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide (EDC). The interaction between chitosan and stearic acid were investigated theoretically by Gaussian 09 package. The purified co polymeric films so formed were characterized by FTIR-ATR, NMR, XRD, TGA, CHNSO, SEM, AFM and EDX techniques. Stearic acid grafted CS film was developed on mild steel surface via dip coating technique and investigated for its corrosion resistance in 3.5% NaCl via electrochemical techniques. EIS measurements and potentiodynamic polarization studies have proven that the grafted CS when blended with epoxy resin offers better corrosion protection to mild steel in saline environment. The coating offers prolonged protection for the metal surface with enhanced barrier properties and hydrophobic nature.  相似文献

This study investigates the effects of calcium carbonate (CaCO(3)) nanoparticles on the mechanical and thermal properties and surface morphology of polycaprolactone (PCL)/chitosan nanocomposites. The nanocomposites of PCL/chitosan/CaCO(3) were prepared using a melt blending technique. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results indicate the average size of nanoparticles to be approximately 62 nm. Tensile measurement results show an increase in the tensile modulus with CaCO(3) nanoparticle loading. Tensile strength and elongation at break show gradual improvement with the addition of up to 1 wt% of nano-sized CaCO(3). Decreasing performance of these properties is observed for loading of more than 1 wt% of nano-sized CaCO(3). The thermal stability was best enhanced at 1 wt% of CaCO(3) nanoparticle loading. The fractured surface morphology of the PCL/chitosan blend becomes more stretched and homogeneous in PCL/chitosan/CaCO(3) nanocomposite. TEM micrograph displays good dispersion of CaCO(3) at lower nanoparticle loading within the matrix.  相似文献

The double-cantilever-beam technique was used to determine the effects of varying 6 factors related to specimen preparation, size, and testing conditions on the fracture toughness of polycrystalline Al2O3. Experimental design and statistical factor analysis techniques were used to investigate each factor at two levels. Direct fracture surface replication and electron microscopy provided supporting information about the fracture mode and fracture surface features for each test condition. The fracture toughness of Al2O3 was higher for 30-μm grain size than for 10-μm grain size. Pretest annealing (900°C) and specimen width were both significant factors for 10-μm Al2O3. The effects of variations of beam width, beam height, and test machine speed were masked by data scatter and are being studied further. The ratio of specimen width to fracture web width caused no effect in the range studied. The sensitivity of the test results to sample dimensions and surface finish is small enough that special care in cutting and measuring of samples is not required.  相似文献
