Expression of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) antigen emerged concurrently with squamous formation of the uterine cervix and increased during the neoplastic transformation of the cervical squamous epithelium. SCC antigen expression differed considerably among the histomorphologic cell types of cervical carcinoma. Large cell nonkeratinizing carcinoma contained high levels of the antigen. In contrast, no appreciable expression of SCC antigen was observed in small cell nonkeratinizing carcinoma. The pattern of SCC antigen expression closely coincided with EGF receptor (EGF-R) expression in cervical squamous neoplasia. This suggests that the expression of SCC and EGF-R in cervical carcinoma is related to the differentiation or dedifferentiation processes of the tumor cells. SCC production by CaSki cervical epidermoid carcinoma cells was stimulated by EGF. It seems likely that an autocrine system, in which EGF serves as the signal, may exist in cervical squamous carcinoma. 17beta-estradiol and L-triiodothyronine were found to upregulate EGF-R expression, proliferative potential and SCC production in the CaSki cervical carcinoma cells.  相似文献

The expression of cytokeratins (CKs) in normal cervical epithelium, low grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (SIL), high grade SILs and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) were analyzed using four different monoclonal antikeratin antibodies. In normal cervical epithelium, CK 18 showed strong immunoreactivity in basal and parabasal layers. CK 19 and 14 were expressed only in the basal layer while CK 13 was found selectively n the spinal cells. As the lesions progressed from low grade SIL to high grade SIL, immunoreactivity of CK 18, 19 and 14 in the basal cell compartment increased while the expression of CK 13 decreased. In SCC, as well-differentiated tumors showed decreased immunoreactivity for CK 18, 19 and 14 with CK 13 showing a strong and focal (localized) immunoreactivity. Undifferentiated carcinomas totally lacked CK 13 reactivity. Our findings therefore suggest that expression of CK 18, 19 and 14 may be directly related to tumor grade and CK 13 may be a marker of differentiation in cervical lesions.  相似文献

Laryngeal papillomas are benign epithelial tumors caused by human papillomaviruses. These tumors are characterized by hyperplasia of the spinous layer and abnormal differentiation. Many tumor cell lines over-express the epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor on their surface, and EGF regulates normal cell growth. We have asked about the relationship of the EGF receptor and EGF response in laryngeal papilloma cells. Papilloma cells showed markedly greater immunohistochemical staining for the EGF receptor, compared to uninfected cells. Both cell types showed a 2-3-fold increase in nuclei incorporating bromodeoxyuridine when EGF was present. Removal of EGF from papilloma cells cultured on collagen rafts permitted normal stratification and differentiation, as determined by synthesis of keratin 13. Inclusion of EGF induced abnormal differentiation with minimal expression of keratin 13. Uninfected laryngeal cells cultured on rafts in the presence of EGF synthesize keratin 13 in all suprabasal cells. EGF reduced both human papillomavirus RNA levels in the papilloma cells and expression of a reporter gene linked to the human papillomavirus 11 enhancers and E6 promoter in uninfected cells. These results suggest that the phenotype of papillomas is induced, in part, by EGF binding to the abundant EGF receptors.  相似文献

Vitamin D3 analogs interfere with various aspects of epidermal growth, inflammation, and cellular differentiation. Most data are derived from in vitro studies. In the present review, the in vivo effects of vitamin D3 analogues on the psoriatic plaque are discussed. Calcipotriol, tacalcitol, and calcitriol in ointment modulate aspects of epidermal growth, differentiation, and inflammation. Immunohistochemical studies suggest that the inflammatory changes might be more expressed after treatment with calcitriol and tacalcitol. Flow cytometric quantification of the percentage of cells in SG2M phase and of keratin 10-positive cells revealed that calcipotriol reduced both indices significantly during treatment of psoriatic plaques. Flow cytometric analysis of epidermal cell suspensions using triple labeling for epidermal proliferation, expression of keratin 10, and vimentin permits a quantitative assessment of DNA synthesis selectively in the basal cells of the epidermis, an estimation of the distribution of the basal and suprabasal compartments, and a quantification of the distribution of mesenchymal and nonmesenchymal cells. Using this approach, the interference of tacalcitol with growth control of basal cells was demonstrated. Remarkably, recompartmentalization of basal and suprabasal cells and mesenchymal and nonmesenchymal cells proved to be inconspicuous during this treatment.  相似文献

One hundred fifty fresh bladder tumors were analyzed blindly by two-dimensional PAGE in combination with proteome identification techniques (microsequencing and mass spectrometry) and immunofluorescence of cryostat sections. Of these, six showed protein expression patterns corresponding to squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs). All tumors were already invasive at the time of presentation, and in most cases, the histopathological grade could not be determined with certainty. The more differentiated of the tumors included SCC 589-1, a lesion showing extensive keratinization, and 536-1, a pure SCC that resembled normal skin growing invasively into the muscle. Both tumors expressed keratins 5, 6, 10, 14, 16, 17, and 20, as well as the differentiation-associated proteins psoriasin, psoriasis-associated fatty acid-binding protein (PA-FABP), and galectin 7. SCC 589-1, however, exhibited higher levels of keratin 10, PA-FABP, and galectin 7 and, in addition, expressed keratins 13, 15, and 19, which were not detected in the pure SCC. Involucrin, glutathione S-transferase pi, stratifin (14-3-3 sigma), and the SCC antigen 1, on the other hand, were less abundant in SCC 589-1. In comparison, less-differentiated tumors did not express keratin 10 and were characterized by a decreased expression of keratin 14, psoriasin, PA-FABP, galectin 7, and stratifin (14-3-3 sigma). Indeed, two of these lesions (553-1 and 651-1) could be readily lined up in order of decreasing degree of differentiation based on the expression of these markers. The degree of differentiation of the other two SCCs could not be assessed with certainty because they may represent special cases (SCC 646-1, solid tumor; SCC 485-1, special differentiation pattern). All six SCCs externalized psoriasin to the urine, supporting the contention that this protein, alone or in combination with other polypeptides, may represent a useful marker for the early detection of these lesions.  相似文献

In normal epidermis integrin expression is largely confined to the basal layer. However, during wound healing and in psoriatic lesions suprabasal expression is observed. Although the potential importance of suprabasal integrin expression in the pathogenesis of psoriasis has been established, the cause of suprabasal expression is unknown. We now describe changes in integrin expression that occur with time when normal human keratinocytes are grown on two types of dermal equivalent, de-epidermized dermis and collagen gels containing fibroblasts. We show that suprabasal integrin expression is correlated with suprabasal expression of the EGF receptor, but not with expression of keratin 10 or keratin 16. By quantitating the proportion of basal keratinocytes expressing the proliferation marker Ki-67 we could show that suprabasal integrin expression is correlated with high proliferative activity within the basal layer. Taken together with our earlier work, these results suggest that suprabasal integrin expression is linked to hyperproliferation and not to abnormal terminal differentiation or to inflammation; they also establish dermal equivalent cultures as useful experimental models with which to manipulate keratinocyte integrin expression.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Galectins are carbohydrate-binding proteins thought to be important for cell growth and differentiation, whose expression is altered in some tumors with aggressive phenotype. Our objective was to evaluate the expression of galectins in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). METHODS: Fourteen HNSCC cell lines and four primary tumor specimens were evaluated using immunoblotting, and immunohistochemical analysis was performed on 35 primary HNSCCs. RESULTS: Galectin-1 and galectin-3 were expressed in most HNSCC cell lines and primary tumor specimens. Galectin-1 was detected in the basal layer of normal adjacent mucosa, in connective tissue stroma, and at the periphery of invasive tumor islands. Galectin-3 localized to superficial mucosal layers, and adjacent to keratin pearls in invasive carcinoma. CONCLUSIONS: Galectins are manifested in HNSCC tumors and are localized to the cell surface, where they may participate in cellular interactions. The expression pattern of galectins appears to be associated with degree of squamous differentiation, suggesting a potential role for galectins as biologic and differentiation markers in HNSCC.  相似文献

Calcipotriol and corticosteroids, two therapy modalities frequently prescribed in the treatment of psoriasis, are often used in combination. The aim of the present study was to determine whether the cell biological response pattern of concurrent use of calcipotriol and corticosteroids is different from calcipotriol monotherapy. Forty patients with chronic plaque psoriasis were divided at random in four parallel groups and treated for 8 weeks with: (1) calcipotriol cream (50 micrograms/g once daily); (2) calcipotriol cream twice daily; (3) calcipotriol and clobetasone 17-butyrate (0.5 mg/g) creams; and (4) calcipotriol and betamethasone 17-valerate (1 mg/g) creams. Before and after treatment keratotome biopsies were taken and single cell suspensions prepared for flow cytometric analysis. Flow cytometric multiparameter quantification of markers for proliferation (TO-PRO-3), differentiation (antikeratin 10) and inflammation (antivimentin) was used to evaluate all four therapy modalities. A statistically significant decrease of the percentage of basal cells in S- and G2M-phase (proliferation) was obtained with all therapy modalities, except for calcipotriol monotherapy applied once daily. A significant reduction of the number of vimentin-positive cells (non-keratinocytes) was observed following combined treatment with calcipotriol and clobetasone butyrate. In contrast, monotherapy with calcipotriol had virtually no effect on the number of vimentin-positive cells. It can be concluded that: (i) calcipotriol monotherapy, applied once daily was less antiproliferative compared with twice daily applications of calcipotriol or the combined treatment with corticosteroids and that (ii) the combination of calcipotriol and corticosteroids proved to have a marked effect on the percentage of non-keratinocytes, in contrast to the modest effect of calcipotriol.  相似文献

Thyroid hormones influence growth and differentiation of bone cells. In vivo and in vitro data indicate their importance for development and maintenance of the skeleton. Triiodothyronine (T3) inhibits proliferation and accelerates differentiation of osteoblasts. We studied the regulatory effect of T3 on markers of proliferation as well as on specific markers of the osteoblastic phenotype in cultured MC3T3-E1 cells at different time points. In parallel to the inhibitory effect on proliferation, T3 down-regulated histone H4 mRNA expression. Early genes (c-fos/c-jun) are highly expressed in proliferating cells and are down-regulated when the cells switch to differentiation. When MC3T3-E1 cells are cultured under serum-free conditions, basal c-fos/c-jun expressions are nearly undetectable. Under these conditions, c-fos/c-jun mRNAs can be stimulated by EGF, the effect of which is attenuated to about 46% by T3. In addition, T3 stimulated the expression at the mRNA and protein level of osteocalcin, a marker of mature osteoblasts and alkaline phosphatase activity. All these effects were more pronounced when cells were cultured for more than 6 days. These data indicate that T3 acts as a differentiation factor in osteoblasts by influencing the expression of cell cycle-regulated, of cell growth-regulated, and of phenotypic genes.  相似文献

Growth/differentiation factor-5 (GDF-5) is a new member of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) superfamily of multifunctional peptide growth factors that appear to mediate many key events in cell growth and development. The effects of GDF-5 and other growth factors (epidermal growth factor, EGF; TGF-beta 1) on the proliferation of human keratinocytes and fibroblasts compared with desoximetasone and calcipotriol have been investigated. The proliferation rate was determined by a hemocytometer, MTT assay and the incorporation of [3H]-thymidine. Moreover, cell cycle analyses were performed and the influence on interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1 alpha) production in keratinocytes was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) because of its pronounced proinflammatory effect. In keratinocytes, GDF-5 stimulated cell proliferation to a minor extent. The drug already proved to be effective at very low concentrations (0.1 ng/ml). Growth stimulatory effects with EGF have been observed only in keratinocyte basal medium (KBM), but not in keratinocyte growth medium (KGM). TGF-beta 1 markedly inhibited the proliferation of keratinocytes at concentrations > 1 ng/ml. Calcipotriol and desoximetasone also showed a dose-dependent cell growth inhibition in epidermal cell cultures. IL-1 alpha synthesis was greatly suppressed by calcipotriol 10(-8)-10(-6) M. EGF at 10 ng/ml, in contrast, strongly stimulated IL-1 alpha production. Neither GDF-5 nor TGF-beta 1 had a significant effect on IL-1 alpha production in keratinocyte monolayer cultures. In fibroblasts, GDF-5 induced very weak antiproliferative effects. Calcipotriol and desoximetasone also inhibited cell growth in fibroblast cultures whereas proliferation and DNA synthesis were strongly stimulated by 1 ng/ml EGF. There was, however, a contradiction between TGF-beta 1 results on fibroblasts. Whereas TGF-beta 1 increased proliferation in cell number determination and in the thymidine incorporation assay, MTT assays showed slight antiproliferative effects. Due to these controversial results, in addition cell cycle analysis was employed. TGF-beta 1 led to an increased S phase, which indicates a stimulation of cell division. The different results obtained with the MTT test suggest that TGF-beta 1 may stimulate cell division of fibroblasts not only by increasing the S phase, but also by shortening the G1 phase of the cell cycle.  相似文献

BHRF1, a component of the restricted early antigen complex of the Epstein-Barr virus lytic cycle, encodes a 17-kDa protein with both sequence and functional homology to the antiapoptotic Bcl-2 oncogene. Recent work has suggested that BHRF1 behaves like Bcl-2 in protecting cells from apoptosis induced by a range of stimuli. In this study, the effect of BHRF1 and Bcl-2 on the growth and differentiation of the SCC12F human epithelial cell line was examined. The levels of stable transfected BHRF1 expression achievable in SCC12F cells was consistently lower than that obtained with Bcl-2. While both BHRF1 and Bcl-2 inhibited epithelial differentiation, the effect of Bcl-2 was more pronounced, resulting in an almost complete blockade of differentiation in organotypic raft cultures. However, BHRF1-expressing SCC12F cells proliferated at a much higher rate than SCC12F cells expressing Bcl-2, and this effect was supported by cell cycle analysis which demonstrated that BHRF1, but not Bcl-2, promotes rapid transit through the cell cycle. These data highlight important differences between BHRF1 and Bcl-2 and suggest that BHRF1 may function to promote the survival and proliferation of lytically infected cells. The proliferative properties of BHRF1 described in this study, together with the demonstration that other oncogenic gamma herpesviruses encode Bcl-2 homologues, suggests that these proteins may serve to increase the susceptibility of virus-infected cells to oncogenic transformation, thereby contributing to the development of virus-associated tumors.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Basaloid squamous cell carcinoma (BSCC) is a recently recognized, poorly differentiated variant of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), which is located predominantly in the upper aerodigestive tract. METHODS: In this study, clinical and pathologic parameters of 17 BSCCs and 133 typical SCCs of the esophagus that underwent potentially curative resection (no distant metastases, no residual tumor) were compared. In addition, light microscopic, electron microscopic, and immunohistochemical features of BSCC were investigated, to determine whether this type of carcinoma could be differentiated from other poorly differentiated carcinomas of the esophagus. RESULTS: Light microscopic study showed that BSCC was composed of relatively small tumor cells, arranged in solid lobules with abundant comedo-type necrosis. BSCC was almost invariably accompanied by areas of concomitant typical SCC, foci of squamous cell differentiation, and/or severe squamous cell dysplasia or carcinoma in situ of the adjacent mucosa. Ultrastructurally, BSCC inconsistently showed features of squamous cell differentiation. Immunohistochemically, BSCC displayed poor reactivity for antibodies against wide-range cytokeratins and cytokeratin subtypes that are typical of squamous cell epithelia (cytokeratin 13 and cytokeratin 14). Infrequently, expression of Leu7, smooth muscle actin, and S-100 protein was found. In comparison with typical SCC, the characteristic features of BSCC were older patient age, higher proliferative activity (MIB-1 labelling index), and higher apoptotic indices. No differences were found with regard to pT classification, pN classification, tumor size, blood vessel invasion, lymphatic vessel invasion, neural invasion, or patient gender. Moreover, no differences in overall survival rates were found. CONCLUSIONS: BSCC is a distinct histopathologic variant of SCC, characterized by a poor degree of differentiation and high proliferative activity. However, after potentially curative resection, the prognosis of patients with BSCC of the esophagus does not differ from that of patients with typical SCC.  相似文献

The acquisition of an invasive or metastatic phenotype in malignant neoplasms is often correlated with reduced cellular adhesiveness. We investigated the expression of the adhesion-associated cytoplasmic protein, vinculin, in normal and neoplastic human squamous epithelia, as well as in metastases of squamous cell carcinomas, and correlated the results with invasiveness and metastatic potential. Tissue samples from various tumors were examined, including basal cell carcinomas (BCC), keratoacanthomas, and squamous cell carcinomas (SCC). In addition, lymph node metastases from nine of the SCC were tested in this study. Our results indicate that most BCC, keratoacanthomas, and in situ SCC display strong positive staining for vinculin. The level of immunolabeling for vinculin and its pattern of distribution in the low malignant, nonmetastasizing lesions was similar to those observed in normal squamous epithelia. In contrast, in SCC, which are invasive and possess metastatic potential, as well as in their metastases, vinculin labeling was negative or poor, irrespective of their degree of differentiation. In conclusion, poor vinculin labeling in tumors of squamous epithelial origin examined here appears to be related to the metastatic potential of the tumor. Vinculin immunostaining of primary tumors originating in stratified squamous epithelia may thus be of value in helping to determine the metastatic potential of these neoplasms.  相似文献

The erbB-2 proto-oncogene belongs to a receptor tyrosine kinase family that includes the epidermal growth factor receptor, erbB-2, erbB-3, and erbB-4. erbB-2 is expressed in basal cells of the squamous epithelia and the outer root sheath of the hair follicles, but its function in epidermal development has not been well studied. To investigate its role in the skin, we created transgenic mice harboring an activated erbB-2 oncogene under the control of the human keratin 14 promoter. The keratin 14 promoter directed its expression to cells in which erbB-2 is normally expressed, whereas the activated receptor gene ensured increased signaling. All transgenic founder mice exhibited extensive and striking skin phenotype, including epidermal hyperplasia, preneoplasia, papilloma, hyperkeratosis, and dyskeratosis. The majority of the hair follicles were replaced by bizarre hyperproliferative intradermal squamous invaginations, whereas the rest of the follicles exhibited severe hyperplasia and disorganization. All but one of the transgenic mice died before or shortly after birth, probably as a consequence of defects in the skin and esophagus. These observations demonstrate that the skin is sensitive to erbB-2 signaling, suggesting an important role for this receptor tyrosine kinase in epidermal growth, differentiation, and hair follicle morphogenesis.  相似文献

AIMS: To investigate the malignant potential of lichen sclerosus, a study using the cell proliferation marker Ki67 comparing lichen sclerosus with and without associated squamous cell carcinoma was performed. METHODS AND RESULTS: Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded slides of 13 cases of lichen sclerosus with associated carcinoma, and 31 cases without associated carcinoma, including 16 random cases, seven with epidermal thickening and eight with epidermal thinning, were examined by the immunoperoxidase technique for Ki67, a cell proliferation marker. Ki67 reactivity was mostly seen in the basal and parabasal cells in both groups of lichen sclerosus and this pattern was similar to normal skin, squamous cell hyperplasia and analogous to that of one form of squamous cell carcinoma. There was a mean of 50 Ki67 positive cells per 100 basal cells in lichen sclerosus with associated squamous cell carcinoma; however, in squamous cell hyperplasia adjacent to carcinoma this rose to 90 Ki67 positive cells per 100 basal cells. In lichen sclerosus without associated carcinoma, the random cases had a count of 53 per 100 basal cells, those with epidermal thickening 53 and those with thinning 42. Non-genital normal skin had a count of 71 per 100 basal cells. CONCLUSION: The lack of qualitative differences of Ki67 expression in normal skin, in lichen sclerosus with and without carcinoma, in squamous cell hyperplasia and in one form of squamous cell carcinoma indicates that these conditions share a common localized pattern of cell proliferation and does not support or deny the malignant potential of lichen sclerosus. The higher Ki67 count in squamous cell hyperplasia adjacent to carcinoma could indicate premalignancy or a reaction to the carcinoma. In patients without carcinoma, the higher Ki67 count in thickened lichen sclerosus compared to thinned suggests that some or all of the cases of thickened lichen sclerosus were lichen sclerosus with squamous cell hyperplasia or that lichen simplex chronicus superimposed on lichen sclerosus has a higher Ki67 expression or that the distinction between squamous cell hyperplasia and lichen simplex chronicus is only one of terminology.  相似文献

Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the second most common form of skin cancer and is treated frequently by dermatologists. For many years, the level of knowledge regarding treatment of SCC has taken a backseat to the treatment of basal cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma. As dermatologists become more surgically proficient and assume a leading role in the surgical care for cutaneous carcinoma, a thorough knowledge of the appropriate management of SCC is of paramount importance. In particular, it is essential to recognize that, unlike basal cell carcinoma, certain SCC have a significant metastatic potential and require more comprehensive care. This review targets the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, histopathology, and treatment of SCC. Particular attention is focused on providing appropriate care for SCC and recognizing and arranging appropriate management for high risk SCC.  相似文献

In the present study, the expression of bcl-2 protein in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and basaloid carcinoma (BC) was immunohistochemically examined, and its relation to tumor progression and postoperative survival was determined in SCC. A total of 42 SCC and 4 BC tumor samples were fixed with formalin, embedded in paraffin, and stained using monoclonal bcl-2 protein antibody, clone 124. Immunoreactivity was semiquantitatively scored, and the staining results were compared with the pathologic features and survival rates. The cytoplasm of basal cells from the normal esophageal epithelium was stained. In some well- and moderately differentiated SCCs, bcl-2 protein-positive reaction was observed in the peripheral part of the tumor cord, but in poorly differentiated SCC, the cells were weakly or hardly stained. However, in BC, the cells were strongly stained. The immunoreactivity was positive in 45.2% of the SCCs and all of the BCs. There were no significant differences in pathological features or patient survival between the bcl-2 protein-positive and protein-negative SCCs. In conclusion, the expression was not related to tumor progression and had no prognostic significance in SCC. Conversely, BC had strong immunohistochemical expression, probably associated with the differentiation of carcinoma cells simulating the basal cells of the esophagus.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to elucidate some of the possible mechanisms of action of the vitamin D analogue calcipotriol in vivo. Calcipotriol is finding increasing use in the treatment of psoriasis, but the primary target cell in vivo has not yet been identified. We treated psoriatic patients and healthy volunteers with calcipotriol and placebo ointment for 4 and 7 days, and obtained epidermal cell suspensions from treated areas. Epidermal cells were cocultured with autologous T cells, isolated from peripheral blood, in the absence or the presence of a classical antigen or a superantigen. In both psoriatic and normal skin, calcipotriol treatment did not alter the capacity of epidermal antigen-presenting cells to stimulate the proliferation of autologous T cells, either in the absence or in the presence of exogenous antigen. Epidermal cell suspensions were analysed further by staining for infiltrating leucocytes (CD45+) and Langerhans cells (CD1a+). Flow cytometric analysis showed that calcipotriol did not alter the number of CD45+ cells or Langerhans cells in psoriatic skin. These results indicate that calcipotriol does not alter either the number of the function of epidermal antigen-presenting cells in psoriatic epidermis. In contrast, we found that calcipotriol significantly inhibited the proliferation of epidermal cells isolated from psoriatic skin after in vivo treatment, as determined by propidium iodide staining and flow cytometry. More specifically, we stained for CD29+ keratinocytes and found an even more significant reduction in proliferative capacity. This cell type contains the population of hyperproliferative keratinocytes in psoriatic epidermis. In conclusion, calcipotriol seems to act via an inhibitory effect on hyperproliferative basal keratinocytes of psoriatic epidermis, rather than via an effect on infiltrating leucocytes, including antigen-presenting cells.  相似文献

Cholesteatoma is a destructive process involving an accumulation of desquamated keratin arising from squamous epithelium that pathologically has invaded the middle ear or mastoid process. The clinical hallmarks of cholesteatomas, namely invasion of healthy tissues, migration, unrestrained proliferation, aggressiveness, recidivism, and uncoordinated differentiation predict the existence of defects in the normal biology and biochemistry of the cellular constituents that compose a cholesteatoma, as well as in the cellular interactions between these cells, the surrounding normal tissue, and the host. In the current report, we analyzed 11 cholesteatomas and matched healthy tissue for altered expression in four different cell surface peptidases, aminopeptidase A, aminopeptidase N, dipeptidyl peptidase IV, and neutral endopeptidase. We suggest that peptidases may modulate cell growth and differentiation by inactivating stimulatory signals (or conversely, by activating inhibitory signals).  相似文献
