Ternary fields are the coordinate rings of affine and projective planes; however, the planes constructed over topological ternary fields are not necessarily topological. Surprisingly, the explanation of this phenomenon becomes evident in the more general theory of topological Klingenberg planes as we exhibited in [3] for the affine case. However, in the projective setting, we have a more formidable task. We must develop a new coordinate ring that admits a topological structure suitable for coordinatizing topological PK-planes. We accomplish this in two stages. In this paper, we revisit the standard coordinate rings [1, 11], discuss and resolve their deficiencies by developing a new coordinate ring as a unique extension of these refined standard rings. In a subsequent paper [4], we show that this new ring can be suitably topologized to coordinatize a topological PK-plane. This last result can then be used to explain why topological ternary fields do not necessarily coordinatize topological projective planes. Received 17 February 2000; revised 10 June 2000.  相似文献

Simple locally compact rings without open left ideals were considered in [13] and general locally compact rings without open left ideals were studied extensively in [5] and [6]. We remove the hypothesis of local compactness and consider topological rings A without open left ideals but containing an open subring R. In section 4 we show that under these conditions A is completely determined by R. More precisely A can be identified with the topological ring of quotients C(R) introduced in [8]. As an R-module RA is topologically isomorphic to I*(RR), the topological injective hull of RR. The last statement was proved in [6] for A locally compact and R compact. Section 5 gives a characterization of those linearly topologized rings R that can be openly embedded into a ring A without open left ideals. In particular we shall show that the open left ideals form an idempotent ideal filter with quotient ring A. In section 6 we consider the class ? of all topological rings that can be openly embedded into a topological ring without open left ideals. If we restrict our attention to linearly topologized rings, then ? is Morita-invariant. In section 2 we construct a topological ring of quotients Q*(R) and prove that it coincides with the ring C(R) of [8].  相似文献

Although the coordinate ternary field of a topological affine plane is topological, the converse does not hold. However, an affine plane is topological precisely when its coordinate biternary fields are topological. We extend this result to topological biternary rings and their topological affine Klingenberg planes. Then we examine the locally compact situation. Finally, following the ideas of Knarr and Weigand, we show that in certain circumstances, the continuity of the ternary operators is sufficient to ensure that the biternary ring is topological. Given a graded ample Hausdorff groupoid, we realise its graded Steinberg algebra as a partial skew inverse semigroup ring. We use this to show that for a partial action of a discrete group on a locally compact Hausdorff topological space which is totally disconnected, the Steinberg algebra of the associated groupoid is graded isomorphic to the corresponding partial skew group ring. We show that there is a one-to-one correspondence between the open invariant subsets of the topological space and the graded ideals of the partial skew group ring. We also consider the algebraic version of the partial C?-algebra of an abelian group and realise it as a partial skew group ring via a partial action of the group on a topological space. Applications to the theory of Leavitt path algebras are given.  相似文献

This paper deals with two things.First,the cohomology of canonical extensions of real topological toric manifolds is computed when coefficient ring G is a commutative ring in which 2 is unit in G.Second,the author focuses on a specific canonical extensions called doublings and presents their various properties.They include existence of infinitely many real topological toric manifolds admitting complex structures,and a way to construct infinitely many real toric manifolds which have an odd torsion in their cohomology groups.Moreover,some questions about real topological toric manifolds related to Halperin's toral rank conjecture are presented.  相似文献

A concept of topological projective geometry is defined, which in contrast to the definitions given in [Mi] and [SÖ] does not contain any dimensional restrictions. Quantum spaces     
In this paper, a more general concept of quantum space is given by modifying the original concept defined by Borceux and Bossche. We show that a quantum space is a topological analogue of a quantale defined by Mulvey, and also a non-commutative generalization of the Zariski spectrum of a commutative ring. But quantum spaces are not good enough to have much of the properties of topological spaces, such as product spaces and quotient spaces.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a topological prime quasi-radical μ(R), which is the intersection of closed prime ideals in a topological ring R. Examples are given that show that μ(R) is different from those topological analogs of the prime radical that have been studied earlier.
