We report an experimental study on the effect of Ag nanoparticles on the polar magneto-optical Kerr effect in cobalt thin film. The magneto-optical cobalt thin film was prepared by electron beam deposition method onto the Ag nanoparticles which were synthesized by laser ablation in liquid technique. Our results indicate that we have sufficient enhancement of polar magneto-optical Kerr effect of cobalt thin film around the surface plasmon resonance of Ag nanoparticles. Moreover, combination of surface plasmon resonance of the Ag nanoparticles and very thin Au layer can be attained the enhancement factor in all of visible spectral region. 相似文献

介绍表面磁光克尔效应谱(SMOKE)的一种新方案。通过适当分光并测量信号束和参考束的光强比,可以明显改善由于激光的光强不稳造成的误差,还使得随机偏振激光器也能用于SMOKE装置。同时该方案中没有采用信号调制,因此对探测器等硬件要求很低。实验结果表明,采用光强稳定度为5%的普通国产He-Ne随机偏振激光器,其测量灵敏度能够达到目前国际上通常用于超薄膜磁性测量的SMOKE的同类水平。 相似文献

A theory of the non-linear longitudinal Kerr magneto-optic effect, previously developed for bulk materials [1], is now applied to a magnetic thin film. The material model is based on the classical equation of motion for a free electron with a finite relaxation frequency under the action of a Lorentz force. A second harmonic current density, dependent upon three non-linear conductivity tensors, reduces to results obtained by Jha [2] in the limit of vanishing ferromagnetic state. The second harmonic reflection coefficients are approximated and are given in terms of the first harmonic reflection coefficients as derived by Smith [3]. 相似文献

This work investigates buckling behavior of thin film thermoelectrics subjected to a temperature gradient. Both a single-layer thermoelectric film and multilayered structures are studied. The multilayered structure consists of a p-type and n-type thermocouple separated by an insulating layer with or without additional supporting membrane layers. The temperatures, and thermoelectrically induced stresses and membrane forces are first presented. The elastic stability theories of homogeneous plates and laminated composites are subsequently used to determine the temperature differential between the hot and cold junctions that causes buckling of the thin film structures. The numerical results show that a single-layer thermoelectric film could buckle at a temperature differential of around 10 K for large length-to-thickness ratios. The multilayered thermoelectric thin film structures exhibit significantly higher buckling temperature differentials due to reduced overall length-to-thickness ratios. 相似文献

Abstract Inspection of dielectric thin films (25.4–508 μm) placed directly above a conducting plate is performed with a W-band millimeter-wave network analyzer. The signal launched by a small antenna placed near the sample surface is picked up by a separate receiver. The phase of the received signal can be related to the thickness and permittivity of the thin films under inspection. While the transmitter and receiver are at larger distances from the dielectric surface, the system operates as a conventional reflectometer. But when they both are close to the surface, guided waves will be excited and even may become dominant over the direct reflection. The significance of the guided-wave contribution is controlled by the locations of the guided-wave poles in the complex k ρ -plane. In this paper we employ a modal approach that previously was developed for geophysical remote sensing to study the effects of the guided waves, and to outline the limits of the conventional reflectometric method for evaluating thin films. 相似文献
