By extending Darboux method to three dimension, we present necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of periodic orbits in three species Lotka-Volterra systems with the same intrinsic growth rates. Therefore, all the published sufficient or necessary conditions for the existence of periodic orbits of the system are included in our results. Furthermore, we prove the stability of periodic orbits. Hopf bifurcation is shown for the emergence of periodic orbits and new phenomenon is presented: at critical values, each equilibrium are surrounded by either equilibria or periodic orbits.  相似文献

A diffusive predator-prey system with Holling type-II predator functional response subject to Neumann boundary conditions is considered. Hopf and steady state bifurcation analysis are carried out in details. In particular we show the existence of multiple spatially non-homogeneous periodic orbits while the system parameters are all spatially homogeneous. Our results and global bifurcation theory also suggest the existence of loops of spatially non-homogeneous periodic orbits and steady state solutions. These results provide theoretical evidences to the complex spatiotemporal dynamics found by numerical simulation.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate a class of generalized Burgers–Huxley equation by employing the bifurcation method of planar dynamical systems. Firstly, we reduce the equation to a planar system via the traveling wave solution ansatz; then by computing the singular point quantities, we obtain the conditions of integrability and determine the existence of one stable limit cycle from Hopf bifurcation in the corresponding planar system. From this, some new exact solutions and a special periodic traveling wave solution, which is isolated as a limit, are obtained. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A kind of three-species system with Holling II functional response and two delays is introduced. Its local stability and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are demonstrated by analyzing the associated characteristic equation. By using the normal form method and center manifold theorem, explicit formulas to determine the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcating periodic solution are also obtained. In addition, the global existence results of periodic solutions bifurcating from Hopf bifurcations are established by using a global Hopf bifurcation result. Numerical simulation results are also given to support our theoretical predictions.  相似文献

The dynamics of an amensalism system with strong generic delay kernel is considered. From a careful analysis of characteristic equation, the local asymptotic stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of Hopf bifurcation from the positive equilibrium are investigated, where the time delay is used as the bifurcation parameter. Moreover, we apply the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem to study the direction of these Hopf bifurcations and the stability of bifurcated periodic orbits. This paper examines several prey-predator models with delay. It examines both existence of bounded and decaying solutions and the Hopf bifurcation of periodic orbits. Symbolic techniques are used for the computation of the stability constants via the method of averaging, with minimal resort to numerics. Email: shangjguo{at}etang.com In this paper, we study the effect of synaptic delay of signaltransmission on the pattern formation and some properties ofnon-linear waves in a ring of identical neurons. First, linearstability of the model is investigated by analyzing the associatedcharacteristic transcendental equation. Regarding the delayas a bifurcation parameter, we obtained the spontaneous bifurcationof multiple branches of periodic solutions and their spatio-temporalpatterns. Second, global continuation conditions for Hopf bifurcatingperiodic orbits are derived by using the equivariant degreetheory developed by Geba et al. and independently by Ize &Vignoli. Third, we show that the coincidence of these periodicsolutions is completely determined either by a scalar delaydifferential equation if the number of neurons is odd, or bya system of two coupled delay differential equations if thenumber of neurons is even. Fourth, we summarize some importantresults about the properties of Hopf bifurcating periodic orbits,including the direction of Hopf bifurcation, stability of theHopf bifurcating periodic orbits, and so on. Fifth, in an excitatoryring network, solutions of most initial conditions tend to stableequilibria, the boundary separating the basin of attractionof these stable equilibria contains all of periodic orbits andhomoclinic orbits. Finally, we discuss a trineuron network toillustrate the theoretical results obtained in this paper andconclude that these theoretical results are important to complementthe experimental and numerical observations made in living neuronssystems and artificial neural networks, in order to understandthe mechanisms underlying the system dynamics better.  相似文献

Lyapunov, Weinstein, and Moser obtained remarkable theorems giving sufficient conditions for the existence of periodic orbits emanating from an equilibrium point of a differential system with a first integral. Using averaging theory, we establish a similar result for a differential system without assuming the existence of a first integral. By regarding the sum of delays as the bifurcation parameter, the local stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are investigated. We obtained explicit formulas to determine the properties of Hopf bifurcation by using the normal form method and center manifold theorem. Special attention is paid to the global continuation of local Hopf bifurcation. Using a global Hopf bifurcation result of Wu [Wu JH. Symmetric functional differential equations and neural networks with memory, Trans Amer Math Soc 1998;350:4799–4838] for functional differential equations, we may show the global existence of the periodic solutions. In this paper, we consider a single-directional ring of three neurons with delays. First, linear stability of the model is investigated by analyzing the associated characteristic transcendental equation. Next, we studied the local Hopf bifurcations and the spatio-temporal patterns of Hopf bifurcating periodic orbits. Basing on the normal form approach and the center manifold theory, we derive the formula for determining the properties of Hopf bifurcating periodic orbit, such as the direction of Hopf bifurcation. This paper studies various Hopf bifurcations in the two-dimensional plane Poiseuille problem. For several values of the wavenumber α, we obtain the branch of periodic flows which are born at the Hopf bifurcation of the laminar flow. It is known that, taking α ≈ 1, the branch of periodic solutions has several Hopf bifurcations to quasi-periodic orbits. For the first bifurcation, calculations from other authors seem to indicate that the bifurcating quasi-periodic flows are stable and subcritical with respect to the Reynolds number, Re. By improving the precision of previous works we find that the bifurcating flows are unstable and supercritical with respect to Re. We have also analysed the second Hopf bifurcation of periodic orbits for several α, to find again quasi-periodic solutions with increasing Re. In this case the bifurcated solutions are stable to superharmonic disturbances for Re up to another new Hopf bifurcation to a family of stable 3-tori. The proposed numerical scheme is based on a full numerical integration of the Navier-Stokes equations, together with a division by 3 of their total dimension, and the use of a pseudo-Newton method on suitable Poincaré sections. The most intensive part of the computations has been performed in parallel. We believe that this methodology can also be applied to similar problems.  相似文献

In this paper, the Leslie-Gower predator-prey system with two delays is investigated. By choosing the delay as a bifurcation parameter, we show that Hopf bifurcations can occur as the delay crosses some critical values. In addition, special attention is paid to the global continuation of local Hopf bifurcations. Using a global Hopf bifurcation theorem for functional differential equations, we show the global existence of periodic solutions.  相似文献

In this work we investigate the existence of traveling wave solutions for a class of diffusive predator–prey type systems whose each nonlinear term can be separated as a product of suitable smooth functions satisfying some monotonic conditions. The profile equations for the above system can be reduced as a four-dimensional ODE system, and the traveling wave solutions which connect two different equilibria or the small amplitude traveling wave train solutions are equivalent to the heteroclinic orbits or small amplitude periodic solutions of the reduced system. Applying the methods of Wazewski Theorem, LaSalle?s Invariance Principle and Hopf bifurcation theory, we obtain the existence results. Our results can apply to various kinds of ecological models.  相似文献

A discrete predator-prey system with Holling type-IV functional response obtained by the Euler method is first investigated. The conditions of existence for fold bifurcation, flip bifurcation and Hopf bifurcation are derived by using the center manifold theorem and bifurcation theory. Furthermore, we give the condition for the occurrence of codimension-two bifurcation called the Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation for fixed points and present approximate expressions for saddle-node, Hopfand homoclinic bifurcation sets near the Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation point. We also show the existence of degenerated fixed point with codimension three at least. The numerical simulations, including bifurcation diagrams, phase portraits, and computation of maximum Lyapunov exponents, not only show the consistence with the theoretical analysis but also exhibit the rich and complex dynamical behaviors such as the attracting invariant circle, period-doubling bifurcation from period-2,3,4 orbits.interior crisis, intermittency mechanic, and sudden disappearance of chaotic dynamic.  相似文献

We consider a delayed predator-prey system. We first consider the existence of local Hopf bifurcations, and then derive explicit formulas which enable us to determine the stability and the direction of periodic solutions bifurcating from Hopf bifurcations, using the normal form theory and center manifold argument. Special attention is paid to the global existence of periodic solutions bifurcating from Hopf bifurcations. By using a global Hopf bifurcation result due to Wu [Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 350 (1998) 4799], we show that the local Hopf bifurcation implies the global Hopf bifurcation after the second critical value of delay.
