Ultra-fine Al–Si hypereutectic alloy with <10 μm primary Si phase was fabricated by direct metal deposition (DMD). The microstructure and microhardness of the hypereutectic alloys manufactured under different scanning speeds and laser powers during DMD were investigated. Compared with the conventional modified hypereutectic alloy whose primary Si phase is around 40 μm, the primary Si particle obtained by DMD has a much smaller size of about 5–10 μm. With increased scanning speed and laser power, the volume fraction and size of the primary Si increase. The unique hypoeutectic microstructure can be found around the primary Si phase in the hypereutectic alloy. With increased scanning speed, the size of eutectic Si grain decreases and the microhardness of deposition increase. However, the size of eutectic Si reaches the minimum value at a certain power level, and the microhardness of deposition reaches the maximum value at 850 W laser powers. The mircohardness of the deposited hypereutectic alloy is approximately 2.5 times of that of the raw eutectic alloy.  相似文献

This work aims to establish the effect of laser energy area density(EAD) as the laser incident energy on density, microstructures and mechanical properties of direct laser deposition(DLD) 12CrNi2 Y alloy steel. The results show that the density of DLD 12CrNi2 Y alloy steel increases at initial stage and then decreases with an increase of EAD, the highest density of alloy steel sample is 98.95%. The microstructures of DLD12CrNi2 Y alloy steel samples are composed of bainite, ferrite and carbide. With increase of EAD, the microstructures transform from polygonal ferrite(PF) to granular bainite(GB). The martensite-austenite constituent(M-A) in GB transforms from flake-like paralleling to the bainite ferrite laths to granular morphology. It is also found that the average width of laths in finer GB can be refined from 532 nm to 302 nm, which improves the comprehensive properties of DLD 12 CrNi2 Y alloy steel such as high hardness of 342 ± 9 HV_(0.2), yield strength of 702 ± 16 MPa, tensile strength of 901 ± 14 MPa and large elongation of15.2%±0.6%. The DLD 12CrNi2 Y material with good strength and toughness could meet the demand of alloy steel components manufacturing.  相似文献

Medium Mn steel was metal inert gas(MIG)welded with NiCrMo-3 and 307Si filler wires. The effect of filler wires on the microstructure and mechanical properties of joint was investigated, and the carbide precipitates were contrastively discussed. The results revealed that the microstructure of weld metal,heat-affected zone and base metal are austenite.Obvious grain coarsening occurred in the heat-affected zone(HAZ),and the maximum grain size grew up to 160 pm.In HAZ,C and Cr segregated at grain boundaries, the carbides was identified as Cr7C3.The dispersive(Nb,Mo)C phase was also found in weld metal with NiCrMo-3 filler wire. All the welded joints failed in HAZ during tensile tests. The tensile strength of welded joint with NiCrMo-3 filler wire was 675 MPa,which is much higher than that with 307Si filler wire.In comparison to base metal, higher microhardness and lower impact toughness were obtained in HAZ for these two welded joints, which was attributed to the precipitation of Cr7C3 phase and grain coarsening. The impact toughness around the fusion line is the worst for these two welded joints.  相似文献

Effect of heat treatment on compressive properties of low alloy steel foams (Fe–1.75 Ni–1.5 Cu–0.5 Mo–0.6 C) having porosities in the range of 47.4–71.5% with irregular pore shape, produced by the space holder-water leaching technique in powder metallurgy, was investigated. Low alloy steel powders were mixed with different amounts of space holder (carbamide), and then compacted at 200 MPa. Carbamide in the green compacts was removed by water leaching at room temperature. The green specimens were sintered at 1200 °C for 60 min in hydrogen atmosphere. Sintered compacts were heat treated by austenitizing at 850 °C for 30 min and then quenched at 70 °C in oil and tempered at 210 °C for 60 min. In this porosity range, compressive yield strengths of as-sintered and heat treated specimens were 28–122 MPa and 18–168 MPa, respectively. The resultant Young’s moduli of the as-sintered and heat treated specimens were 0.68–3.12 GPa and 0.47–3.47 GPa, respectively. The heat treatment enhanced the Young’s modulus and compressive yield strength of the foams having porosities in the range of 47.4–62.3%, as a consequence of matrix strengthening. However, the compressive yield stress and Young’s modulus of the heat treated foam having 71.5% porosity were lower than that of the as-sintered foam’s, as a result of cracks in the structure. The results were discussed in light of the structural findings.  相似文献

The as-rolled ZK21 magnesium alloy sheets of 2 mm in thickness were successfully joined by laser welding. The effects of the welding parameters including the laser power and the welding speed on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the joints were investigated. A sound bead, with the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 289 MPa and up to 94% of the base metal, was obtained with the optimized welding parameters. The fusion zone (FZ) was characteristic of equiaxed dendritic grains of about 15 μm in size and fine Mg2Zn3 precipitates dispersed among the dendritic arms. Besides, a few columnar grains grew from the fusion boundary epitaxially. The fine grains in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) were ascribed to recrystallization.  相似文献

In this study, an aluminum based metallic matrix (Al-2wt.% Cu) was reinforced with SiC particulates using a conventional casting technique and a new disintegrated melt deposition technique. Microstructural characterization studies conducted on the samples taken from disintegrated melt deposition technique revealed a more uniform distribution of SiC particulates and good interfacial integrity between SiC particulates and metallic matrix when compared to the conventionally cast composite samples. Results of ambient temperature mechanical tests demonstrate an increase in 0.2% YS and ultimate tensile strength of samples taken from disintegrated melt deposition technique when compared with the unreinforced and conventionally cast composite samples. The results of microstructural characterization and mechanical testing were finally rationalized in terms of the nature of processing technique employed to reinforce Al-2wt.% Cu metallic matrix with SiC particulates.  相似文献

High strength steel alloys are good candidates for many engineering applications particularly those involving high strains and impact loads. Such applications in energy absorption devices require materials that can sustain dynamic loading and remain strong under demanding conditions. But the processing cost of these alloys has been a prohibitive factor, thus re-enforcing the research on porous and cellular structures made of stainless steels. Direct metal deposition (DMD) is a process which employs the power of a CO2 laser to melt and deposit metallic powders onto steel substrates. Such structures offer advantages of creating novel configurations only by computer control of laser “tool path”. This research investigates the mechanical behaviour of solid and porous parts with prismatic cavities under quasi-static and dynamic compressive loading. Apart from two main deficiencies of relatively large variations of properties among the test specimen and sufficiently low modulus of elasticity, the stress strain behaviour is very close to the commercial grades of stainless steel produced by rolling and forming. The energy absorption behaviour of porous specimen is also very encouraging and renders DMD as a suitable process for manufacturing of customized sandwich and graded structures that can be used as a substitution for many engineering applications such as monolithic compression plates and explosion shields.  相似文献

S31042 heat-resistant steel was joined by linear friction welding(LFW) in this study. The microstructure and the mechanical properties of the LFWed joint were investigated by optical microscopy, scanning electronic microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, hardness test and tensile test. A defect-free joint was achieved by using LFW under reasonable welding parameters. The dynamic recrystallization of austenitic grains and the dispersed precipitation of NbCrN particles resulting from the high stress and high temperature in welding, would lead to a improvement of mechanical property of the welded joint. With increasing the distance from the weld zone to the parent metal, the austenitic grain size gradually increases from ~1μm to ~150μm, and the microhardness decreases from 301 HV to 225 HV. The tensile strength(about 731 MPa) of the welded joint is comparable to that of the S31042 in the solution-treated state.  相似文献

Here,a single-track CoCrFeMnNi high entropy alloy(HEA)was successfully fabricated by laser melting deposition(LMD).Combining the experimental observations and numerical simulation, the microstruc-ture and mechanical properties of the as-deposited parts were systematically studied from the perspective of thermo-mechanical history experienced during the LMD process. The strengthening mech-anisms of the LMDed CoCrFeMnNi HEA parts were clarified. The frictional stress strengthening, grain boundary strengthening and dislocation strengthening contributed the whole yield strength of the parts.Dislocation strengthening dominated the strengthening mechanism. It was expected that the establish-ment of the relationship between thermo-mechanical history, microstructure and mechanical properties of the LMDed CoCrFeMnNi HEA could shed more insights into achieving HEA parts with the desired microstructure and high performance.  相似文献

Microstructure and mechanical properties of a new β high strength Ti–3.5Al–5Mo–6V–3Cr–2Sn–0.5Fe titanium alloy were investigated in this paper. Both the α/β and β solution treatment and subsequent aging at temperatures ranging from 440 °C to 560 °C for 8 h were introduced to investigate the relationship between microstructures and properties. Microstructure observation of α/β solution treatment plus aging condition shows that the grain size is only few microns due to the pinning effect of primary α phase. The β solution treatment leads to coarser β grain size and the least stable matrix. The size and volume fraction of secondary α are very sensitive to temperature and strongly affected the strength of the alloy. When solution treated at 775 °C plus aged at 440 °C, the smallest size (0.028 μm in width) of secondary α and greatest volume fraction (61%) of α resulted in the highest yield strength (1624 MPa). And the yield strength decreased by an average of 103 MPa with every increase of 40 °C due to the increase of volume fraction and decrease of the size of secondary α. In β solution treatment plus aging condition, tensile results shows that the strength if the alloy dramatically decreased by an average of 143 MPa for every increase of 40 °C because of larger size of secondary α phase than α/β solution treated plus aged condition.  相似文献

The effects of different contents of vanadium(V)(0.1,0.2,and 0.3 wt%) on the microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of 718H steel were investigated. The precipitate was characterized by means of atom probe tomography(APT) and bright-field transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The increase in V content has great benefits for strength, but has an adverse effect on impact toughness. The strength increase can be attributed to the influence of V addition on dislocation density, misorientation gradient, and fine scale MC precipitates.Precipitation strengthening mainly contributes to the V-added steel by analyzing various strengthening mechanisms. However, fine scale MC precipitates can pin dislocation leading to a decrease in its mobility.A large number of immovable dislocations will increase the dislocation accumulation, internal stress and brittle cracking, resulting in a gradual decrease in impact toughness with the V addition. In addition, compared with V-free steel, the dissolved V content in austenite decreases the grain boundary energy and inhibits the diffusion of the C atoms, ultimately reducing the transformation range of pearlite(P).  相似文献

Interstitial-free steel (IF-steel) sheets were processed at room temperature using a continuous severe plastic deformation (SPD) technique called equal-channel angular sheet extrusion (ECASE). After processing, the microstructural evolution and mechanical properties have been systematically investigated. To be able to directly compare the results with those from the same material processed using discontinuous equal channel angular extrusion, the sheets were ECASE processed up to eight passes. The microstructural investigations revealed that the processed sheets exhibited a dislocation cell and/or subgrain structures with mostly low angle grain boundaries. The grains after processing have relatively high dislocation density and intense micro-shear band formation. The electron backscattering diffraction (EBSD) examination showed that the processed microstructure is not fully homogeneous along the sheet thickness due probably to the corner angle of 120° in the ECASE die. It was also observed that the strengths of the processed sheets increase with the number of ECASE passes, and after eight passes following route-A and route-C, the yield strengths reach 463 MPa and 459 MPa, respectively, which is almost 2.5 times higher than that of the initial material. However, the tensile ductility considerably dropped after the ECASE. The limited ductility was attributed to the early plastic instability in the tensile samples due to the inhomogeneous microstructure. The specimen orientation with respect to the ECASE direction did not have a considerable effect on the stress-strain response. Appropriate low temperature annealing of ECASE-processed IF-steel resulted in a good strength-ductility balance.  相似文献

In this investigation the effect of friction stir welding pin geometry on the microstructure and mechanical properties of AZ31B magnesium alloy joints is studied. The considered pin geometries are simple cylindrical, screw threaded cylindrical and taper. The joints are friction stir welded at different traverse and rotational speeds. Microstructures of the joints are examined using the optical and scanning electron microscopes. Also, the tensile properties and hardness of the joints are measured. The results show that taper and screw threaded cylindrical pins produce defect free joints. In addition, the taper pin results in finest microstructure and highest mechanical properties. Furthermore, it is found that rotational speed has a more significant role on the final microstructure and mechanical properties of the joints, compared to the traverse speed.  相似文献

Lap joints of aluminium alloy A6061-T6 and galvanised steel DP800 were produced by an advanced gas metal arc welding process with AlSi3Mn filler. Four heat inputs designated as A (110?J?mm?1), B (120?J?mm?1), C (130?J?mm?1) and D (140?J?mm?1) were used during the process and the joints made were subjected to analysis of the microstructures, mechanical properties, residual stresses and corrosion behaviour. Microstructural analysis shows the formation and variation of Fe–Al intermetallic (IM) layer. It is also found that the joints made using the heat input of 120?J?mm?1 exhibited highest tensile strength and better corrosion resistance. Electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the presence of different IM phases with other strengthening precipitates.  相似文献

The effects of rotational and welding speeds on the microstructure and mechanical properties of bobbin-tool friction stir welded (BT-FSW) Mg AZ31 were investigated. The results indicated that the thermo-mechanically affected zone (TMAZ) consisted of equiaxed grains, which were inconsistent with the deformed, rotated and elongated grains found in the TMAZs of bobbin-tool friction stir welded Al alloys and friction stir welded Al and Mg alloys. The average grain size increased as the ratio of the rotational speed to welding speed increased. Excellent welds with no degradation in hardness were produced using a low heat input. Mechanical tests revealed that the ultimate tensile strengths gradually increased with increasing welding speed while keeping the rotational speed constant. The rotational and welding speeds had only slight influences on the yield stress and fracture elongation.  相似文献

Abstract

Alloy 909 is a Ni–Fe–Co alloy that exhibits a low coefficient of thermal expansion and high strength at elevated temperatures. These characteristics are suitable for demanding high temperature uses such as turbine components for aerospace and energy generation. The mechanical properties are achieved by heat treatment (solution and aging) that affects the microstructural characteristics such as grain size and precipitation of intergranular and transgranular particles. This work summarises the results of trials conducted to determine the conditions that assure the desired mechanical properties in high temperature ring rolled pieces. Results of tensile, hardness and stress rupture tests are complemented by microstructural analyses. These studies allowed for establishing a robust method for the manufacture of rings; no degradation of the product, either metallurgical or due to properties, has been reported after the method was implemented.  相似文献

In this paper, a new magnesium alloy Mg–12Zn–4Al–0.5Ca (ZAX12405) was prepared by squeeze casting. The effects of processing parameters including applied pressure, pouring temperature and dwell time on the microstructure and mechanical properties of squeeze-cast ZAX12405 alloy were investigated. It was found that squeeze-cast ZAX12405 alloy exhibited finer microstructure and much better mechanical properties than gravity casting alloy. Increasing the applied pressure led to significant cast densification and a certain extent of grain refinement in the microstructure, along with obvious promotion in mechanical properties. Lowering the pouring temperature refined the microstructure of ZAX12405 alloy, but deteriorated the cast densification, resulting in that the mechanical properties firstly increased and then decreased. Increasing the dwell time promoted cast densification and mechanical properties just before the solidification process ended. A combination of highest applied pressure (120 MPa), medium pouring temperature (650 °C) and dwell time (30 s) brought the highest mechanical properties, under which the ultimate tensile strength (UTS), yield strength (YS) and elongation to failure (Ef) of the alloy reached 211 MPa, 113 MPa and 5.2% at room temperature. Comparing with the gravity casting ZAX12405 alloy, the UTS and Ef increased 40% and 300%, respectively. For squeeze-cast Mg–12Zn–4Al–0.5Ca alloy, cast densification was considered more important than microstructure refinement for the promotion of mechanical properties.  相似文献

A series of nanogranular Ti90Cr10 thin films have been fabricated by pulsed-laser deposition on Si substrates at different temperatures. The crystal structure and mechanical properties of these films were investigated. The X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope images with selected area diffraction showed that the structure of as-prepared films is dependent on film thickness and deposition temperature. It was found that the Ti90Cr10 films consisted of fine hexagonal close packed microstructure with columnar grains, while body close-packed cubic structure of Cr films are composed of irregular grains, meanwhile, a chromium disilicide (CrSi2) layer formed in the interface between the substrate and Cr films which deposited at temperature of greater than 600 °C. The crystalline and columnar grains improved with an increase of the thickness of the films and an optimum microstructure is obtained under the present experimental condition of about 50 nm thickness and deposited temperature of 500 °C for Ti90Cr10 films. Deposited at 300 °C, the Ti90Cr10 films have hardness of 12.7 GPa and elastic modulus of 174.6 GPa. Improved to 600 °C the sample shows higher hardness of 13.1 GPa and higher elastic modulus of 183.2 GPa. Using Benjamin-Weaver model, adhesion shearing force can be calculated as 34.9 MPa for 300 °C Ti90Cr10 film while higher value of 44.4 MPa for higher temperature of 600 °C.  相似文献

Friction spot welding (FSpW) was applied to join the 7B04-T74 aluminum alloy successfully, and effects of sleeve plunge depth on weld appearance, microstructures and mechanical properties were investigated in detail. When the sleeve plunge depth was larger than 2 mm, a surface indentation with a depth of 0.2 mm should be applied in order to eliminate the defect of annular groove. The tensile shear properties of the joints were dependent on hook geometry, location of alclad layer, and hardness of stir zone (SZ). With increasing the sleeve plunge depth from 2 to 3.5 mm, the hook height increased, the alclad layer downward migrated further and the hardness of SZ decreased. The optimized FSpW joint was obtained when the sleeve plunge depth was 3 mm, and the corresponding tensile shear failure load was 11921 N. Two different failure modes, i.e. shear fracture mode and tensile-shear mixed fracture mode, were observed in the tensile shear tests.  相似文献

The microstructure, including grain size and precipitation, tensile strength and Charpy impact toughness of (Nb + V) 18Cr–2Mo ferritic stainless steel heavy plates with/without Ti were investigated by means of optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and standard tensile strength and Charpy impact toughness testing. It was found that for 18Cr–2Mo heavy plate, a good combination of Nb–V stabilized method without Ti induces refinement of grain sizes due to the precipitation of amounts of fine Nb carbonitrides and V nitrides. Meanwhile, the mechanical testing results indicate that optimal transformation of grain size, precipitation that Nb–V composition system brings to 18Cr–2Mo heavy plate is beneficial to improvement of strength and impact toughness.  相似文献
