Ergonomics in information technology in Europe—a review

. This review of Ergonomics in Information Technology in Europe was done in three stages, (i) Scientific papers and addresses of other persons/groups were requested from 52 persons/groups initially contacted, (ii) Visits were made to the more important groups in nine European countries, and use was made of opportune visits to the U.S.A. (iii) The papers received, and the extensive data gathered during the visits, were appraised and the review report was written.

The domains and subdomains of ITE are then described and the state of research in these domains is reviewed; at least half of the subdomains of ITE are little researched as yet in Europe. The principal research gaps are recorded.

The current state of ITE in Europe and the U.S.A. is then reviewed and compared. As a result it is suggested that a Strategic Programme for Research in ITE (SPRITE) is needed. Such a co-ordinated programme will greatly enlarge the scope of such research in Europe, will develop collaboration between researchers and, especially, will increase the researchers' contact with and value for the European IT industry.

随着IT外包服务业务的不断增长,IT外包服务中知识转移所导致的风险问题也愈加突出,如何规避IT外包中的风险问题也显得尤为重要。从知识分类的角度出发,利用粗糙集理论,对IT外包中的知识转移风险规则挖掘算法进行了分析与探讨,结合具体案例予以实证,以期为IT外包企业风险控制做出贡献。     

Complacency,capabilities, and institutional pressure: understanding financial institutions’ participation in the nascent mobile payments ecosystem

As mobile payments become increasingly popular, their ecosystem is also evolving. The participation of financial institutions in this ecosystem, although is rapidly improving, remains relatively low. This paper studies why some financial institutions choose to, or not to, participate in this nascent mobile payments ecosystem. We developed hypotheses for the influence of three factors as aspiration gaps, customer-facing IT capabilities, and institutional pressures based on three theoretical foundations including the threat rigidity thesis, capability-based view, and institutional theory. We then empirically tested our hypotheses by analyzing the diffusion of mobile payments among 3549 U.S. credit unions from 2013 to 2016. Results from our event history analyses provide support to the hypotheses that credit unions experiencing performance gaps, having superior customer-facing IT capabilities, and facing strong institutional pressures are more likely to start providing mobile payment services.

The effect of business ties and government ties on new IT venture growth: an empirical examination in China

The advancement of information technology in the past three decades is tremendous, and much of the advancement can be attributed to numerous new IT ventures that invent and commercialize a variety of information technologies. But new IT venture growth has not been sufficiently addressed by IS/IT researchers. In this research, we synthesized the literature on entrepreneurship, strategy, and management to develop a model linking business ties and government ties to new IT venture growth, while considering the effect of two contextual factors, firm size and legitimacy. We then collected empirical data from new IT ventures in China (N = 457). Regression analyses showed that both business ties and government ties positively affect new IT venture growth, and their effect is moderated by firm size and legitimacy. These insights contribute to both the literature and practices.     

Leveraging information technology to achieve the IT2000 vision: the case study of an intelligent island

Although many developing and developed countries have major initiatives to promote the use of information technology (IT), Singapore is one of the few countries which not only has a comprehensive IT2000 vision, but which is also taking proactive steps to make the vision a reality. This paper examines how Singapore is currently leveraging IT applications to achieve the IT2000 vision. It also explores some of the uses of IT that will be deployed in the near future. Specifically, this paper discusses the use of IT applications to provide one-stop, non-stop government and business services, promote cashless transactions, provide more options for leisure, and facilitate easy commuting.

A new framework for managing IT-enabled business change

Abstract. Although information systems and technology (IS/IT) investments have always caused varying degrees of business change, the main purpose of many of today's IS/IT implementations is to change the business and/or organization in some significant way. However, most organizations' approaches to managing IS/IT developments have changed little in the last 15–20 years and are heavily dependent on methodologies of IS/IT development and associated project management principles. The philosophy being adopted by many organizations today is that there are few IS/IT projects (some infrastructure investments only) that do not cause business changes and therefore they are really 'business projects involving IS/IT'. This exploratory research set out to devise a new framework for 'IT and change' management, which is more appropriate to today's realities than traditional approaches. The initial framework was derived from 'first principles', then adapted and further developed by applying and testing it in a range of real projects in organizations. This paper summarizes the results of that work.
