Sulfidation of trimetallic CoNiMo/Al 2O 3 catalysts was studied by thermogravimetry at 400 °C under flow and pressure conditions. Results were compared with those obtained on prepared and industrial CoMo/Al 2O 3 and NiMo/Al 2O 3 catalysts. The amount of sorbed H 2S on the sulfided solids was measured at 300 °C in the H 2S pressure range 0–3.5 MPa at constant H 2 pressure (3.8 MPa). The adsorption isotherms were simulated using a model featuring dissociated adsorption of H 2S on supported metal sulfides and bare alumina. The amount of sulfur-vacancy sites could thus be determined under conditions close to industrial practice. A relationship with activity results for thiophene HDS and benzene hydrogenation was sought for. 相似文献

Catalytic activities of Al 2O 3–TiO 2 supporting CoMo and NiMo sulfides (CoMoS and NiMoS) catalysts were examined in the transalkylation of isopropylbenzene and hydrogenation of naphthalene as well as the hydrodesulfurization (HDS) of model sulfur compounds, conventional gas oil (GO), and light cycle oil (LCO). Al 2O 3–TiO 2 supporting catalysts exhibited higher activities for these reactions except for the HDS of the gas oil than a reference Al 2O 3 supporting catalyst, indicating the correlation of these activities. Generally, more content of TiO 2 promoted the activities. Inferior activity of the catalyst for HDS of the gas oil is ascribed to its inferior activity for HDS of dibenzothiophene (DBT) in gas oil as well as in model solvent decane, while the refractory 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene (4,6-DMDBT) in gas oil as well as in decane was more desulfurized on the catalyst. Characteristic features of Al 2O 3–TiO 2 catalyst are discussed based on the paper results. 相似文献

The present paper gives a detailed review of the different studies under investigation in our laboratory concerning the use of TiO 2 and TiO 2–Al 2O 3 composites prepared by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) as support for sulfide catalysts in the HDS of dibenzothiophene (DBT) derivatives. The supports investigated here are: TiO 2 (from Degussa, 50 m 2/g), Al 2O 3 (Nikki, 186 m 2/g) and TiO 2–Al 2O 3 supports prepared by CVD of TiCl 4 on alumina. Using several characterization techniques, we have demonstrated that the support composite presents a high dispersion of TiO 2 over γ-Al 2O 3 without forming precipitates up to ca. 11 wt.% loading. Moreover, the textural properties of the support composite are comparable to those of alumina. XPS investigations of Mo and NiMo catalysts supported on the different carriers show that Mo-oxide species exhibit a higher degree of sulfidation on the surface of TiO 2 and TiO 2–Al 2O 3 than on alumina. The HDS tests of 4,6-DMDBT under mild operating conditions (573 K, 3 MPa) show that sulfide catalysts supported on the composite support (ca. 11 wt.%) are more active than those supported on to TiO 2 or Al 2O 3. This higher HDS catalytic activity is attributed to the promotion of the hydrodesulfurization pathway, whereby the pre-hydrogenation of one of the aromatic rings adjacent to the thiophenic one may reduce the steric hindrance caused by the two methyl groups adjacent to the sulfur atom during the C–S bond cleavage. 相似文献

The effectiveness of Ag/Al 2O 3 catalyst depends greatly on the alumina source used for preparation. A series of alumina-supported catalysts derived from AlOOH, Al 2O 3, and Al(OH) 3 was studied by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis) spectroscopy, diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform (DRIFT) spectroscopy, O 2, NO + O 2-temperature programmed desorption (TPD), H 2-temperature programmed reduction (TPR), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and activity test, with a focus on the correlation between their redox properties and catalytic behavior towards C 3H 6-selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO reaction. The best SCR activity along with a moderated C 3H 6 conversion was achieved over Ag/Al 2O 3 (I) employing AlOOH source. The high density of Ag–O–Al species in Ag/Al 2O 3 (I) is deemed to be crucial for NO selective reduction into N 2. By contrast, a high C 3H 6 conversion simultaneously with a moderate N 2 yield was observed over Ag/Al 2O 3 (II) prepared from a γ-Al 2O 3 source. The larger particles of Ag mO ( m > 2) crystallites were believed to facilitate the propene oxidation therefore leading to a scarcity of reductant for SCR of NO. An amorphous Ag/Al 2O 3 (III) was obtained via employing a Al(OH) 3 source and 500 °C calcination exhibiting a poor SCR performance similar to that for Ag-free Al 2O 3 (I). A subsequent calcination of Ag/Al 2O 3 (III) at 800 °C led to the generation of Ag/Al 2O 3 (IV) catalyst yielding a significant enhancement in both N 2 yield and C 3H 6 conversion, which was attributed to the appearance of γ-phase structure and an increase in surface area. Further thermo treatment at 950 °C for the preparation of Ag/Al 2O 3 (V) accelerated the sintering of Ag clusters resulting in a severe unselective combustion, which competes with SCR of NO reaction. In view of the transient studies, the redox properties of the prepared catalysts were investigated showing an oxidation capability of Ag/Al 2O 3 (II and V) > Ag/Al 2O 3 (IV) > Ag/Al 2O 3 (I) > Ag/Al 2O 3 (III) and Al 2O 3 (I). The formation of nitrate species is an important step for the deNO x process, which can be promoted by increasing O 2 feed concentration as evidenced by NO + O 2-TPD study for Ag/Al 2O 3 (I), achieving a better catalytic performance. 相似文献

Ni catalysts supported on γ-Al 2O 3, CeO 2 and CeO 2–Al 2O 3 systems were tested for catalytic CO 2 reforming of methane into synthesis gas. Ni/CeO 2–Al 2O 3 catalysts showed much better catalytic performance than either CeO 2- or γ-Al 2O 3-supported Ni catalysts. CeO 2 as a support for Ni catalysts produced a strong metal–support interaction (SMSI), which reduced the catalytic activity and carbon deposition. However, CeO 2 had positive effect on catalytic activity, stability, and carbon suppression when used as a promoter in Ni/γ-Al 2O 3 catalysts for this reaction. A weight loading of 1–5 wt% CeO 2 was found to be the optimum. Ni catalysts with CeO 2 promoters reduced the chemical interaction between nickel and support, resulting in an increase in reducibility and stronger dispersion of nickel. The stability and less coking on CeO 2-promoted catalysts are attributed to the oxidative properties of CeO 2. 相似文献

A series of Co/Al 2O 3 catalysts were prepared by the incipient wetness impregnation method using γ-Al 2O 3 support and (CH 3COO) 2Co·4H 2O solutions, followed by calcination at 500–800 °C. Characterization of catalysts was accomplished by several techniques such as thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), physisorption of nitrogen, mercury and helium-based pycnometries, Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and pH of zero charge (PZC). Impregnation of support produced a moderate decrease of its surface area and pore volume and also led to minor changes of its PZC. Depending on preparation conditions (i.e., calcination atmosphere and temperature and metal loading), one or more of the following Co-containing compounds were identified: CoO, Co 3O 4 and CoAl 2O 4. The support and prepared Co/Al 2O 3 catalysts were tested to catalyze the ozonation of aqueous pyruvic acid at pH 2.5. Pyruvic acid was shown refractory towards single ozonation but the use of γ-Al 2O 3 and Co/Al 2O 3 catalysts resulted in 56–96% pyruvic acid conversion and 41–78% decrease in DOC after 2 h of ozonation of phosphate-buffered solutions. In the absence of the buffer, conversion rate was enhanced likely as a result of pH increase during the course of the process thus giving rise to the indirect way of ozonation through hydroxyl radicals. Acetic acid was found as the main by-product of pyruvic acid ozonation. Depending on the catalyst used, yield of acetic acid varied from 32 to 49%, values noticeably lower that that obtained from the control non-catalytic ozonation experiment (73%). Differences in catalytic activity amongst the various Co/Al 2O 3 catalysts investigated were attributed to the different Co active phases deposited on the γ-Al 2O 3 surface. The following sequence of increasing activity can be inferred from experimental results: CoO, CoAl 2O 4 and Co 3O 4. All the Co/Al 2O 3 catalysts prepared showed good stability as the percentage of cobalt leached out was rather low. 相似文献

Composite types of TiO 2–Al 2O 3 supports, which are γ-aluminas coated by titania, have been prepared by chemical vapor deposition (CVD), using TiCl 4 as a precursor. Then supported molybdenum catalysts have been prepared by an impregnation method. As supports, we employed γ-alumina, anatase types of titania, and composite types of TiO 2–Al 2O 3 with different loadings of TiO 2. We studied the conversion of Mo from oxidic to sulfidic state through sulfurization by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The obtained spectra unambiguously revealed the higher reducibility from oxidic to sulfidic molybdenum species on the TiO 2 and TiO 2–Al 2O 3 supports compared to that on the Al 2O 3 support. Higher TiO 2 loadings of the TiO 2–Al 2O 3 composite support led to higher reducibility for molybdenum species. Furthermore, the catalytic behavior of supported molybdenum catalysts has been investigated for hydrodesulfurization (HDS) of dibenzothiophene (DBT) and methyl-substituted DBT derivatives. The conversion over the TiO 2–Al 2O 3 supported Mo catalysts, in particular for the 4,6-dimethyl-DBT, is much higher than that obtained over Al 2O 3 supported Mo catalyst. The ratio of the corresponding cyclohexylbenzene (CHB)/biphenyl (BP) derivatives is increased over the Mo/TiO 2–Al 2O 3. This indicates that the prehydrogenation of an aromatic ring plays an important role in the HDS of DBT derivatives over TiO 2–Al 2O 3 supported catalysts. 相似文献

NiMo/( X)SiO 2–Al 2O 3 catalysts were synthesized with various SiO 2 contents ( X = 0, 10, 25 and 50 wt%) using the pH-swing method. In order to find the optimum SiO 2 content, the catalysts were evaluated in the hydrodesulfurization of 4,6-DMDBT, hydrogenation of naphthalene and hydrodenitrogenation of carbazole. Kinetic parameters of Langmuir–Hinshelwood type equations for all the reaction systems were estimated. FTIR analysis of CO adsorption for the sulfided catalysts shows that the amount of coordinatively unsaturated Mo sites promoted by nickel (CUS-NiMoS) follows the order NiMo/10ASA > NiMo/25ASA > NiMo/0ASA. This tendency agrees with the results obtained in catalytic activity. 相似文献

After the test run of several months two kinds of commercial catalysts (NiMo/Al 2O 3 and CoMo/Al 2O 3) were examined in hydrodesulfurization (HDS) of straight run (SRGO) and nitrogen-removed gas oils, at 340 °C under 50 kg/cm 2 H 2. Hydrogen renewal between stages was attempted to show additional inhibition effects of the by-products such as H 2S and NH 3. Spent NiMo/Al 2O 3 and CoMo/Al 2O 3 catalysts showed contrasting activities in HDS and susceptibility to nitrogen species, according to their catalytic natures, compared to those of their virgin ones. HDS over spent NiMo/Al 2O 3 was significantly improved by removal of nitrogen species, while that over spent CoMo/Al 2O 3 was much improved by H 2 refreshment. The activity for refractory sulfur species such as 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene was reduced more severely than that for the reactive sulfur species such as benzothiophenes over spent catalysts. The effects of both two-stage hydrodesulfurization and nitrogen-removal were markedly reduced over the spent NiMo when compared with those over virgin NiMo one. The acidity of the catalysts was correlated with the inhibition susceptibility by nitrogen species as well as H 2S and NH 3. Spent catalysts apparently lost their activity due to the carbon deposition, which covered the active sites more preferentially. The spent NiMo catalyst carried more deposited carbon with larger C/H ratio and nitrogen content. Higher acidity was found to be present on the NiMo catalyst, but this was greatly decreased by the carbon deposition. Additionally, the reactivity of nitrogen species in HDS was briefly discussed in relation to the acidity of the catalyst and its deactivation by carbon deposition. 相似文献

A series of the Ce 1−xCu xO 2−x/Al 2O 3/FeCrAl catalysts ( x = 0–1) were prepared. The structure of the catalysts was characterized using XRD, SEM and H 2-TPR. The catalytic activity of the catalysts for the combustion of methane was evaluated. The results indicated that in the Ce 1−xCu xO 2−x/Al 2O 3/FeCrAl catalysts the surface phase structure were the Ce 1−xCu xO 2−x solid solution, -Al 2O 3 and γ-Al 2O 3. The surface particle shape and size were different with the variety of the molar ratio of Ce to Cu in the Ce 1−xCu xO 2−x solid solution. The Cu component of the Ce 1−xCu xO 2−x/Al 2O 3/FeCrAl catalysts played an important role to the catalytic activity for the methane combustion. There were the stronger interaction among the Ce 1−xCu xO 2−x solid solution and the Al 2O 3 washcoats and the FeCrAl support. 相似文献

A series of CoO x/Al 2O 3 catalysts was prepared, characterized, and applied for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO by C 3H 8. The results of XRD, UV–vis, IR, Far-IR and ESR characterizations of the catalysts suggest that the predominant oxidation state of cobalt species is +2 for the catalysts with low cobalt loading (≤2 mol%) and for the catalysts with 4 mol% cobalt loading prepared by sol–gel and co-precipitation. Co 3O 4 crystallites or agglomerates are the predominant species in the catalysts with high cobalt loading prepared by incipient wetness impregnation and solid dispersion. An optimized CoO x/Al 2O 3 catalyst shows high activity in SCR of NO by C 3H 8 (100% conversion of NO at 723 K, GHSV: 10,000 h −1). The activity of the selective catalytic reduction of NO by C 3H 8 increases with the increase of cobalt–alumina interactions in the catalysts. The influences of cobalt loading and catalyst preparation method on the catalytic performance suggest that tiny CoAl 2O 4 crystallites highly dispersed on alumina are responsible for the efficient catalytic reduction of NO, whereas Co 3O 4 crystallites catalyze the combustion of C 3H 8 only. 相似文献

The reduction of NO under cyclic “lean”/“rich” conditions was examined over two model 1 wt.% Pt/20 wt.% BaO/Al 2O 3 and 1 wt.% Pd/20 wt.% BaO/Al 2O 3 NO x storage reduction (NSR) catalysts. At temperatures between 250 and 350 °C, the Pd/BaO/Al 2O 3 catalyst exhibits higher overall NO x reduction activity. Limited amounts of N 2O were formed over both catalysts. Identical cyclic studies conducted with non-BaO-containing 1 wt.% Pt/Al 2O 3 and Pd/Al 2O 3 catalysts demonstrate that under these conditions Pd exhibits a higher activity for the oxidation of both propylene and NO. Furthermore, in situ FTIR studies conducted under identical conditions suggest the formation of higher amounts of surface nitrite species on Pd/BaO/Al 2O 3. The IR results indicate that this species is substantially more active towards reaction with propylene. Moreover, its formation and reduction appear to represent the main pathway for the storage and reduction of NO under the conditions examined. Consequently, the higher activity of Pd can be attributed to its higher oxidation activity, leading both to a higher storage capacity ( i.e., higher concentration of surface nitrites under “lean” conditions) and a higher reduction activity ( i.e., higher concentration of partially oxidized active propylene species under “rich” conditions). The performance of Pt and Pd is nearly identical at temperatures above 375 °C. 相似文献

High surface area (>300 m 2 g −1) nano-structured TiO 2 oxides (ns-T) were used as CoMo hydrodesulfurization catalyst support. Cylindrical extrudates were impregnated by incipient wetness with Mo (2.8 Mo at. nm −2) and Co (atomic ratio Co/(Co + Mo) = 0.3). Characterization of impregnated precursors was carried out by N 2 physisorption, XRD and atomic absorption and laser-Raman spectroscopies. Sulfided catalysts (400 °C, H 2S/H 2) were studied by X-ray photoelectronic spectroscopy. As indicated by XRD and after various preparation steps (extrusion, Mo and Co impregnation and sulfiding) the nano-structured material was well preserved. XPS analyses showed that Co and Mo dispersion over the ns-T support was much higher than that on alumina. Very high surface S concentration suggested that even ns-T was partially sulfided during catalyst activation. Dibenzothiophene hydrodesulfurization activity (5.73 MPa, 320 °C, n-hexadecane as solvent) of CoMo/ns-T was two-fold to that of an alumina-supported commercial CoMo catalyst. The improvement was even more remarkable in intrinsic pseudo kinetic constant basis. No important differences in selectivity over the catalysts supported on either Al 2O 3 or ns-T were observed, where direct desulfurization to biphenyl was favored. Both Mo dispersion and sulfidability were enhanced on the ns-T support where Mo 4+ fraction was notably increased (100%) as to that found on CoMo/Al 2O 3. 相似文献

The role of La 2O 3 loading in Pd/Al 2O 3-La 2O 3 prepared by sol–gel on the catalytic properties in the NO reduction with H 2 was studied. The catalysts were characterized by N 2 physisorption, temperature-programmed reduction, differential thermal analysis, temperature-programmed oxidation and temperature-programmed desorption of NO. The physicochemical properties of Pd catalysts as well as the catalytic activity and selectivity are modified by La2O3 inclusion. The selectivity depends on the NO/H2 molar ratio (GHSV = 72,000 h−1) and the extent of interaction between Pd and La2O3. At NO/H2 = 0.5, the catalysts show high N2 selectivity (60–75%) at temperatures lower than 250 °C. For NO/H2 = 1, the N2 selectivity is almost 100% mainly for high temperatures, and even in the presence of 10% H2O vapor. The high N2 selectivity indicates a high capability of the catalysts to dissociate NO upon adsorption. This property is attributed to the creation of new adsorption sites through the formation of a surface PdOx phase interacting with La2O3. The formation of this phase is favored by the spreading of PdO promoted by La2O3. DTA shows that the phase transformation takes place at temperatures of 280–350 °C, while TPO indicates that this phase transformation is related to the oxidation process of PdO: in the case of Pd/Al2O3 the O2 uptake is consistent with the oxidation of PdO to PdO2, and when La2O3 is present the O2 uptake exceeds that amount (1.5 times). La2O3 in Pd catalysts promotes also the oxidation of Pd and dissociative adsorption of NO mainly at low temperatures (<250 °C) favoring the formation of N2. 相似文献

Coprecipitated Fe-Al 2O 3, Fe-Co-Al 2O 3 and Fe-Ni-Al 2O 3 catalysts is shown to be very efficient in carbon deposition during methane decomposition at moderate temperatures (600–650 °C). The carbon capacity of the most efficient bimetallic catalysts containing 50–65 wt.% Fe, 5–10 wt.% Co (or Ni) and 25–40 wt.% Al 2O 3 is found to reach 145 g/g cat. Most likely, their high efficiency is due to specific crystal structures of the metal particles and formation of optimum particle size distribution. According to the TEM data, catalytic filamentous carbon (CFC) is formed on them as multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs). The phase composition of the catalysts during methane decomposition is studied using a complex of physicochemical methods (XRD, REDD, Mössbauer spectroscopy and EXAFS). Possible mechanisms of the catalyst deactivation are discussed. 相似文献

The effect of the Pd addition method into the fresh Pd/(OSC + Al 2O 3) and (Pd + OSC)/Al 2O 3 catalysts (OSC material = Ce xZr 1−xO 2 mixed oxides) was investigated in this study. The CO + NO and CO + NO + O 2 model reactions were studied over fresh and aged catalysts. The differences in the fresh catalysts were insignificant compared to the aged catalysts. During the CO + NO reaction, only small differences were observed in the behaviour of the fresh catalysts. The light-off temperature of CO was about 20 °C lower for the fresh Pd/(OSC + Al 2O 3) catalyst than for the fresh (Pd + OSC)/Al 2O 3 catalyst during the CO + NO + O 2 reaction. For the aged catalysts lower NO reduction and CO oxidation activities were observed, as expected. Pd on OSC-containing alumina was more active than Pd on OSC material after the agings. The activity decline is due to a decrease in the number of active sites on the surface, which was observed as a larger Pd particle size for aged catalysts than for fresh catalysts. In addition, the oxygen storage capacity of the aged Pd/(OSC + Al 2O 3) catalyst was higher than that of the (Pd + OSC)/Al 2O 3 catalyst. 相似文献

Methane combustion over Pd/Al 2O 3 catalysts with and without added Pt and CeO 2 in both oxygen-rich and methane-rich mixtures at temperatures in the range 250–520°C has been investigated using a temperature-programmed reaction procedure with on-line gas analysis (FTIR). During the temperature loop under oxygen-rich conditions, there was an appreciable hysteresis in the activity of unmodified Pd/Al 2O 3, which was greatly enhanced over Pd–Pt/Al 2O 3. Over both catalysts the hysteresis was reversed under slightly methane-rich atmospheres, and as temperature was reduced, a sudden collapse or fluctuations in activity were shown respectively over Pd–Pt/Al 2O 3 and Pd/Al 2O 3. Such non-steady behaviour was almost eliminated over Pd/Al 2O 3–CeO 2. Under a very narrow range of conditions and over a Pd/Al 2O 3 packed bed, oscillation of methane combustion was observed. 相似文献

Atomic layer epitaxy (ALE), a technique relying on saturating gas–solid reactions, was applied in the preparation of CrO x/Al 2O 3 catalysts using Cr(acac) 3 vapor and air as source materials for CrO x. Vaporized Cr(acac) 3 was reacted with preheated Al 2O 3, and the surface complex formed was treated with air to remove the ligand residues. The Cr loading increased from 1.3 to 12.5 wt.% as the number of saturating Cr(acac) 3 and air reactions was increased from one to 10. CrO x/Al 2O 3 catalysts were also prepared from solution by incipient wetness impregnation (0.3–21 wt.%). XPS and UV–VIS measurements of the catalysts revealed the presence of both Cr 6+ and Cr 3+. Although the oxidation state distribution was similar, H 2-temperature programmed reduction (TPR) and solubility measurements indicated that Cr 6+ surface sites were in stronger interaction with Al 2O 3 and more uniformly distributed in the catalysts prepared by ALE than by impregnation. On the basis of the activity of the catalysts in the dehydrogenation of i-butane, we propose that the dehydrogenation reaction uses both reduced Cr 6+, i.e. redox Cr 3+, and exposed non-redox Cr 3+ sites. Furthermore, the dehydrogenation reaction must be insensitive to the size of the CrO x ensembles since activities were similar for the catalysts prepared by ALE and impregnation. The decay of the dehydrogenation activity in successive prereduction–reaction–regeneration cycles was attributed to a decrease in the number of redox Cr 3+ sites. 相似文献

The catalytic performance of mono- and bimetallic Pd (0.6, 1.0 wt.%)–Pt (0.3 wt.%) catalysts supported on ZrO 2 (70, 85 wt.%)–Al 2O 3 (15, 0 wt.%)–WO x (15 wt.%) prepared by sol–gel was studied in the hydroisomerization of n-hexane. The catalysts were characterized by N 2 physisorption, XRD, TPR, XPS, Raman, NMR, and FT-IR of adsorbed pyridine. The preparation of ZrW and ZrAlW mixed oxides by sol–gel favored the high dispersion of WO x and the stabilization of zirconia in the tetragonal phase. The Al incorporation avoided the formation of monoclinic-WO 3 bulk phase. The catalysts increased their SBET for about 15% promoted by Al 2O 3 addition. Various oxidation states of WO x species coexist on the surface of the catalysts after calcination. The structure of the highly dispersed surface WO x species is constituted mainly of isolated monotungstate and two-dimensional mono-oxotungstate species in tetrahedral coordination. The activity of Pd/ZrW catalysts in the hydroisomerization of n-hexane is promoted both with the addition of Al to the ZrW mixed oxide and the addition of Pt to Pd/ZrAlW catalysts. The improvement in the activity of Pd/ZrAlW catalysts is ascribed to a moderated acid strength and acidity, which can be correlated to the coexistence of W 6+ and reduced-state WO x species (either W 4+ or W 0). The addition of Pt to the Pd/ZrAlW catalyst does not modify significantly its acidic character. Selectivity results showed that the catalyst produced 2MP, 3MP and the high octane 2,3-dimethylbutane (2,3-DMB) and 2,2-dimethylbutane (2,2-DMB) isomers. 相似文献

The water-gas shift (WGS) activity of platinum catalysts dispersed on a variety of single metal oxides as well as on composite MO x/Al 2O 3 and MO x/TiO 2 supports (M = Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Y, Zr, La, Ce, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Ho, Er, Tm) has been investigated in the temperature range of 150–500 °C, using a feed composition consisting of 3% CO an 10% H 2O. For Pt catalysts supported on single metal oxides, it has been found that both the apparent activation energy of the reaction and the intrinsic rate depend strongly on the nature of the support. In particular, specific activity of Pt at 250 °C is 1–2 orders of magnitude higher when supported on “reducible” compared to “irreducible” metal oxides. For composite Pt/MO x/Al 2O 3 and Pt/MO x/TiO 2 catalysts, it is shown that the presence of MO x results in a shift of the CO conversion curve toward lower reaction temperatures, compared to that obtained for Pt/Al 2O 3 or Pt/TiO 2, respectively. The specific reaction rate is in most cases higher for composite catalysts and varies in a manner which depends on the nature, loading, and primary crystallite size of dispersed MO x. Results are explained by considering that reducibility of small oxide particles increases with decreasing crystallite size, thereby resulting in enhanced WGS activity. Therefore, evidence is provided that the metal oxide support is directly involved in the WGS reaction mechanism and determines to a significant extent the catalytic performance of supported noble metal catalysts. Results of catalytic performance tests obtained under realistic feed composition, consisting of 3% CO, 10% H 2O, 20% H 2 and 6% CO 2, showed that certain composite Pt/MO x/Al 2O 3 and Pt/MO x/TiO 2 catalysts are promising candidates for the development of active WGS catalysts suitable for fuel cell applications. 相似文献
