Abstract:The slag aggregate of domestic garbage incinerator has the continuous gradation distribution, a certain strength performance and potential hydraulic performance, which can be used as a substitute for natural aggregate in cement stabilized macadam. However, the influence of basic properties of slag aggregate on the strength of cement stabilized macadam is not clear. Firstly, the basic properties of slag aggregates from the different producing areas places are studied. Then, the slag aggregate is used to replace the natural aggregate with a certain proportion and the same particle size in order to carry out the mix design of cement stabilized slag macadam. Based on the unconfined compressive strength test, the strength performances of cement stabilized slag macadam with the different admixtures of slag aggregate are determined. Finally, based on the correlation analysis, the influence of basic properties of slag aggregate on the compaction characteristics and strength properties of cement stabilized slag macadam is determined. The test results show that the optimum moisture content of cement stabilized slag macadam increases with the increase of slag aggregate content, and the maximum dry density decreases with the increase of slag aggregate content. With the increase of slag aggregate content, the strength of cement stabilized slag macadam gradually decreases, and the strength of cement stabilized slag macadam by drying method is stronger than that of cement stabilized slag macadam by wet method. The optimum moisture content of cement stabilized slag macadam has a high correlation with the water absorption of slag aggregate. The unconfined compressive strength of cement stabilized slag macadam is positively correlated with the density, water absorption and ignition loss of slag aggregate, and negatively correlated with the crushing value of slag aggregate.
